Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Entertaining but...
Yes, entertaining but certainly doesn't deserve to be rated so much higher than TopGun which was just so good and a break away from all the movies of its time. The soundtrack alone deserves a 10.
TopGun Maverick does well to continue the story even if the mission is a makeover of the 1964 movie, 633 Squadron.
All in all, entertaining but not as good as the ratings suggest.
The Orville (2017)
You lost me.
The first two seasons were great but the show lost me after episode 1 of season 3.
Where has the comedy gone. With all the grief in the world we needed some light-hearted viewing and all we got was a less than Star Trek copy.
Such a disappointment.
The Orville: Electric Sheep (2022)
Was I watching a drama, where's the humour gone?
All very dramatic and touching on the highly sensitive subject of suicide and not doing a good job of it this was not The Orville we have waited for. What is going on with the writers?
Dog (2022)
Certainly not a comedy
Has its ups and downs but it's worth watching and far better than some of the rubbish to hit our screens in recent times.
Nice to see a movie where the whole world isn't destroyed by some super hero.
The hero here, is Dog.
No Time to Die (2021)
This would make Ian Fleming turn in his grave
I started watching Bond films in 1965. I have seen most movies far more than the average. I have read all the Bond books by Fleming and subsequent authors but have never suffered so much disappointment before watching this concoction of movie rubbish. Have the script /plot writers ever read or studied the character?
2.75 hours of my life I'll never get back.
Cry Macho (2021)
A very nice movie
Don't know what people expect from Clint at his age, he can't be doing action movies now.
This is an enjoyable movie, meaningful and pretty feel good.
Not every movie needs to be full of destruction and death.
A great way to pass a couple of hours.
Endeavour: Terminus (2021)
Certainly not one of the best
Far from the expected standard of believable cases and I hope it's the last of this sort of 'experiment'.
Not sure if there was a hidden line. What with the apparent change of the young Endeavour to the more mature Morse but the last line from Endeavour being "It's beginning to thaw" did make me wonder if that was a reference to the John Thaw Morse?
Great White (2021)
Seriously?
How did anyone convince investors that this was a worthwhile script.
I was actually supporting the sharks to end this rubbish.
Amazing how the sharks size changed to suit the situation.
The Magnificent Seven (2016)
The Other Seven
If you rate this movie above 4 stars you obviously haven't watched the original.
Liar (2017)
Oh dear, let's hope for an improvement
After a great first season the first episode of the second season left a lot to be desired.
The annoying female Scotland Yard detective is somewhat stereotyped and it's hard to believe she could manage a burger van never mind a murder case.
Mortdecai (2015)
Will it be alright in the end?
What a great movie. Funny with great characters and not even a hint of destroying everything in sight.
Obviously the people who didn't like it just didn't understand the type of humour.
Obviously due to the poor box office performance there will not be a sequel, more the shame.
The War of the Worlds (2019)
A wasted opportunity
Like many others I have read the book and watched different versions of this brilliant story.
I love Jeff Wayne's musical interpretation.
I couldn't wait to see the BBC remake however I lost interest within minutes and left the first episode totally disappointed.
Who thought this was worth airing?
Pennyworth (2019)
Interesting
Although far more graphic this has a similar feel to the British TV series The Avengers, twists on the usual, chasing around an English village where all the occupants are in the 'gang'.
Great fun.
Da hong zha (2018)
Comedy??
Poor from the start but landing a fighter aircraft on a truck and stopping just at the edge of the highest cliff known to man? Really? Absolutely awful.
Bancroft (2017)
Has the author ever spoken to a police officer
Well, let's disregard almost all police procedures, have senior officers all prepared to overlook the obvious, give one officer full sway or control over most all areas and enquiries and you've got Bancroft. What a huge disappointment.
Swinging Safari (2018)
Somewhat funny until the swinging started
This film, like most Australian movies has a great potential for laughs and to some extent delivered in the first forty so minutes however once the swinging 'started' the laughs and to some degree, the films direction stopped.
The costumes, vehicles and the whole style of the 70's was captured extremely well which makes it even more disappointing that the laughs just weren't delivered.
It certainly isn't a Castle.
Thirteen (2016)
Where are the correct procedures
So many police and other procedures were breached in this story-line. So little care for the original victim, Ivy, would not only breach her rights but would jeopardize any prosecution against her. For a person who supposedly spent thirteen years locked in a cellar there is no professional support shown. This is an extremely poor drama and any similarities with real life is purely coincidental.
