Halo (2022)
Very entertaining
Finally watched it and it was worth it. I never had a chance to play Halo and I am by no means a Halo expert. Was coming in very cold. The first fight surprised me with fire power the humans had. Looked like upgraded machine guns. But once that initial surprised wore off, I finished the season in one watch. Very good story so far and very entertaining. Loved the characters and their complexity. Not sure why the ratings are so slow. There is a possible supernatural element but the show didn't delve into a lot of explanation of any tech. Hopefully things get more clarified later. Can't wait for the next installment in this series.
The Terminal List (2022)
Right there as one of the best shows on Amazon
Nothing new to add here except say too long waiting in the fence to watch the show because of initial reviews. But I am glad I pulled the trigger. What a great series. Good story clean action great acting great production. Loved it. Want more. A lot more. Well done. 10/10.
Raat Akeli Hai (2020)
Best Hindi movie this year!!
Loved the movie. On the edge every moment. Radhika aapte is my favorite actress, she is hot, does great roles and can act really well. And enough cannot be said about Nawazuddin. Great on screen chemistry.
Greyhound (2020)
Good war movie!!
Good but not great! I have it a 9 because I like war movies and I want more to be made. This was a solid movie with rooms to improve. What did I like? Premise was great. Action scenes had me on the edge most of the time. I was rooting for the Convoy to make it across safely. I love war movies and the battleships and subs interaction was great. What I did not understand? There were some holes. I didn't understand why the first night 5 boats went down. The second night was a free pass. There was a reason but what was it? There were lot of non verbal exchanges between the navymen that went over my head. Those glances were supposed to mean something but wasn't clear to me. War is politics driven and the men who fight are following orders. I had nothing against the German navy who were following orders and I would have liked to see this from there angle a little bit especially the packs lead. The last ten minutes of the movie seemed unnecessary. Tom hanks scenes with Elizabeth Shue were cringy. All of this is my opinion. Take it for what's its worth. End of the day, it was worth my time and I may even watch it again fast forwarding the dull scenes. To me that it the final measure of a movies success.
Space Force (2020)
Enjoyed it.
Was wholesome and funny. I enjoyed it. Ratings are not justified. I gave it a shot cause I liked the cast and was well rewarded.
Upload (2020)
Soapy and moelodama
I hate shows like this where 90% of each episode is just filler and ten % pushes the story line forward. Premise is great, a lot of sci fi is great, characters are stereo typical (all rich people are shallow and mean and so on.... ) but the love story is hard to buy in to and the central plot barely barely moves on. Anyways crappy and a big let down from Amazon. Maybe it's trying to fill with junk shows like Netflix does where one in ten is worth watching. Hope this was just a misfire. Let's see.
Upstarts (2019)
Really good story!
I hardly ever watch a title without reading reviews first but this was an exception... and now that I am reviewing the ratings, I am glad that I gave this movie a chance. It doesn't deserve the low ratings. I live in the bay area amidst startups that have become household names across the globe and this movie does an incredible job in highlighting the highs, couples with many low lows, of chasing that elusive dream and playing that game. The story weaved through those topics effortlessly without sacrificing on character development. I dont know why anyone is complaining about acting. Most of the key characters were very believable. After I saw the movie, I called many of my friends and recommended the movie to the them. I really hope Netflix invests further in such movies from the subcontinent.
The Boys (2019)
Brilliant
There is so much TV to watch out there these days in the golden age of cinema that I am skipping shows that I cannot imagine I doing a few years ago. But watched each and every minute if this show.. wow! Great Characters (Butcher, Karl Urban being allowed to play himself is amazing and so far my favourite character. I love this new role for him). Simple Plot: Watchmensque beginning, remember the tagline,, 'who watched the watchmen' Amazing Non Cheesy Mature Sharp Dialogues and great onliners ('Tighter than a choirboy's @#$!..lol), Beautiful settings and Visuals. Down 5 episodes and am already hoping we get more of this.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Great adult entertainment!
Not a hardcore anime fan but if I get a lot of recommendations, I am not averse to watching one. This one though has me yearning for more. New stories, awesome science fiction, adult themes, a lot of eye candy (and thats being very mild)...cant wait for more. Its that one gem out of ten crappy movies/shows Netflix is churning out these days.
