It's a brave choice to make none of the main characters likeable. When it works, it makes the viewer uncomfortable and makes a point about life. When it goes not work, the film just flops - this film just flops.
This movie has us meet Mr. Miller who works at a school and is seduced by a young (she makes it very clear she is 18!) woman. Ortega does a fine job with what she has to work with, but that's not a saviour for this film.
While this movie offers clues and hints a deeper elements, it never can deliver on them. Ambition, lust, potential, inspiration - all mentioned without the thesis to make us care.
There are bad 'lust' films that often fall under the thriller / horror / comedy genre. What makes this film truly bad is that it tries to take itself seriously. Filmed in an almost dream like state, it pretends to be smart when it clearly isn't. I can appreciate dumb, but trying to be smart is horrible. Just like this film.
3/10.
