The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
They finally nailed it what so many others could not
When I first heard that a prequel of Dark Crystal was in production, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. What about the original magic that was used by the late Jim Henson and his team. Will they focus more on what the current young folks want, nowadays (aka hyperactive action scenes and overkill of CGI). Well, thank God they did not. They respected the work of Jim Henson and if he were alive today, he would be proud as hell of what has been created. So glad to get a full background on the world and the people in the dark crystal universe. Perfect voice casting and last but use of the nostalgic puppets, we all learned to love. One worry I do have. Since this is a prequel to the movie, I wonder how much seasons they can produce before they reach the point where the story of the movie starts. I hope we do get a few seasons extra of this majistic master piece. A wel deserved 10!
Dark Shadows (2012)
Every director misses the ball sometimes. This one's Tim Burtons
As a big fan of Burton, what can I say. This movie is by far his worst movie. The storyline is weak and predictable as never seen before. There is zero emphasis to character development. You simply don't care what happens to all of them by the end of the movie. I was almost rooting for Eva Greens character as it probably had the most depth of them all. A father that neglects his children, without any clear motive as to why. A doctor and a werewolves daughter, which have no adde value at all. Even though it has a well known cast, the each seem to fail at their performance, with minor exception for Eva Green and Jackie Earle Haley. It just felt as if Burton did not put any energy in this movie. Such a shame
Stranger Things (2016)
Season 4. Time to get their act back together
After enjoying both season 1 and 2, I had very high hopes for season 3. Getting to know more about the upside down and its major goal that it's trying to reach. Sadly enough, nothing of that. What we do get is a lot of scenes showing the fun chemistry between some of the characters. Kudos for the actors on that. But again story wise not a lot happens. The major letdown for me was the ending of season 3, which was, once again, the gang closing a portal. Now where did we see that before. Also they could've done a lot more with the Billy character. Felt bad they had to let him go.
So for season 4, I really hope they work out a more thought through plot. I know, I love all the 80'd references and that's the thing which is currently keeping the series so popular. But I would really hope that Duffer brothers will emphasize less on the 80's feel and more on an original plot that will keep you on the edge of your seet. Make it happen, guys!
Het peulengaleis (1999)
just bought the DVD box!
I just bought the DVD box with the whole 2 seasons. This show is just great. It's the most absurd comedy show ever made in Belgium. I also remember the time when I was always listening to "Het Leugenpaleis" on Studio Brussel.Who can ever forget Dokter De Reiger ,Jefke De Lathouwer ,Joe Roxy ,Mr. Van Grouwel ,etc. I can keep this up all day.
Peulengaleis en "In De Gloria" were the two best Belgian comedy shows ever showed on television. I know people who really don't like "Het Peulengaleis" ,but they just don't understand the absurd humor in the show. It always has to be simple and often predictable humor.
In any case if you were a big fan of "Het Leugenpaleis" you just can't wait to see it all on television.
