Elvis (2022)

Is this an Elvis movie or a Colonel movie?
25 June 2022
To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. I thought the combination of Baz Luhrmann and Elvis would be a match made in heaven, but it mostly fell flat for me. One major flaw I saw in this movie is allowing the Colonel to be the narrator. The entire movie is centered around the Colonel's abuse and mismanagement of Elvis, which is a story worth telling, but maybe not in an Elvis biopic? It felt more like a Colonel biopic.

I enjoyed the first half of the movie, with young Elvis getting his rise to stardom, but it felt too rushed. Then the latter part of the movie felt so agonizingly long and boring. In the end, I don't feel I really learned anything new about Elvis. And I'm no superfan, so I'm sure there's plenty I don't know about the King. I just wish it had been more about his life than his mismanagement.

The one reason I gave this movie more than one star is Austin Butler. He truly shines as Elvis and gives an amazing performance. There were many times I couldn't believe it wasn't Elvis' voice being dubbed over- he sounds and moves so much like him!

Everyone needs to lighten up

I think this show is hilarious! I was shocked by all the bad reviews. This show is the perfect way to decompress after a long day. I love that it has mostly unknown actors and Sean William Scott's role is delightfully different from his normal characters. Also, for those pissed about the "misrepresentation of small towns?" Stop lying to yourself. I grew up in a small town and there are hilarious similarities. I will gladly keep watching this show!

This show is a joy to watch. It's witty and light-hearted, which is exactly what we need right now. Very reminiscent of Clue.

Absolutely terrible

I so wanted to like this. I love all things Jane Austen and thought this would be up my alley. It has all the scenery, accents, and costumes of a period piece, but it has no soul whatsoever. I don't know if the acting is terrible, or the writing, maybe both, but I couldn't make it through one episode. It's like watching high-brow robots. Don't waste your time.

A must-see, but not for the faint of heart

The one thing you can rest easy about is the carnage. We all know by now that the area around the trade centers before and after they fell was littered with body parts. They don't show any of that, nor do they show horrific injuries except for one burn victim and a few bloodied people.

This documentary is THE BEST 9/11 documentary out there. It's raw, emotional, and difficult to watch, but it takes the events of that day minute by minute with extreme detail. There are many heartbreaking stories, but they also pepper in heartwarming stories when they can. I learned so many things that I never knew before. With the 20th anniversary quickly approaching, I think this should be on everyone's watch list.

Warning: Spoilers
I would much rather watch a one-off documentary about this case than whatever you want to call this. The ex-cop/PI (?) is ok, but the author? "I've only ever written fiction, but let me take a stab at solving a cold case!" For real? She's awful and doesn't bring anything to the table. Just look up the details of this case, this "documentary" is terrible and very Oxygen-esque, which is not a compliment.
