Most Beautiful Island (2017)
An Unexpected Tale
I think Roald Dahl would have enjoyed this suspenseful, twisting and twisted story. It's rather like one of his Tales from the Unexpected. Unfortunately, despite being a clever thriller, it confuses the audience by its quasi factual identity.
The Witcher (2019)
Another silly voice but...
I have no idea why lead males are all doing Jonny Cash whispering impersonations nowadays. It's almost as if it's a necessity in the "playing the cool" hero. It's got potential. I just wish that Henry Cavill didn't sound like he was about to break into "I was born under a wandering star".
Broken City (2013)
Don't read any synopses
Broken City is a mediocre thriller. Good acting and a reasonable script make for a couple of hours of escapism. Whatever you do - unless it's too late - don't read any synopses because they all give away twists in the plot, some of which happen over halfway through the film.
V-Wars (2019)
Marmite
So far reviews seem divided into the extreme "complete rubbish" and the "absolutely fantastic" categories. I can understand why. Although strangely addictive (and I really can't work out why) this derivative dross will probably warrant a second series. And I'll probably watch it.
