Black Adam (2022)
Does not live up to the hype.
The movie is an origin story, retooled and extremely changed to make the Black Adam character more sympathetic, resembling very little to the comic book character in any of its incarnations. The story fails to portrait the strong bond Black Adam has with the Shazam! Character, delivering a rather mediocre superhero tale and lacking most of the things that makes the anti-hero interesting. On the other hand, the Justice Society team is really well cast, giving depth to its characters, making their interactions believable and fun.
I really appreciate the character's design, the photography and seeing some of my favorite superheroes brought to the silver screen, however it's a movie that ended up being another vanity project for Mr. Johnson to add to his career.
Alone with You (2021)
Predictable but very well crafted.
A very simple independent movie that effectively shows the downward spiral of a fragile psyche, that keeps you guessing even if some of its plot elements may be predictable.
I enjoyed the main character's portrait of a damaged woman, struggling with the relationships in her life.
Very nice cinematography and beautiful photography, accompanied by an interesting music score and sound design. No gore nor big budget effects, the film relies solely on its performances.
It's a movie worth watching if you like supernatural psychological thrillers, with a few horror movie cliches but full of interesting details.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
The movie is fantastic, Warner executives are idiots.
I recently stopped reading DC Comics after 40 something years being a fan. Aside from a couple of artistic licenses this movie is the best and more faithful adaptation of DC Comics mythology.
Sator (2019)
Great movie overall but not for the pop corn crowd.
After watching a shameful lineup of bad acted, ridiculously predictable and poorly written horror flicks this was an interesting brake of the over produced Hollywood disposable mediocrity.
Beautiful photography, interesting story, nightmarish atmospheres and convincing acting, this is one hell of a witchcraft tale.
