Sense8: What Family Actually Means (2017)
That ending though!!!
MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD
Sense 8 gets better and better with each new episodes. The final scene was a really emotional one.
Dealing with death of the cluster member's family is something the series has to do seriously, and not lightly. Take Sun's father for example. His death has caused consequences that makes up for some very important plot points for later episodes.
But Will Gorsky's father's death might not be as consequential as Sun's father's death. And that's why this sequence had to be dealt in a different way. And how did the makers handle this - pouring all the emotions in at once.
You can feel the situation in which Will is trapped. He can see his father die, he can hear him saying "I want to see my son". But his father cannot see Will. This frustration can be seen where Will cries in the darkness. The shadow covers his face.
The very next shot is of a young Will, crying beside his father urging him not to go. And this Will's face is fully lightened. It shows the mental condition of Will currently. He is in a more darker state of mind, and trapped in his own mind.
Just as the scene finishes, the end credits roll. With no sound.
Absolute Silence.
This might be the first time I lingered around 30-40 seconds more, just watching the credits. The Wachowskis found a way to include a very powerful emotion in end credits as well. That's not ordinary. They are fricking genius.
Sense 8 never disappoints. Wachowskis never disappoints.
Oceans Rising (2017)
Kudos to the Makers!!!
Wow! What a movie. Kudos to the entire team involved in this film. The Avenger series; Avatar - those big Hollywood movies who has an extra large budget - you need to learn from this film.
I was diagnosed with insomnia a couple of weeks earlier. But this movie cured me out of it. It was one of the best sleep I ever had, even though it was only for ninety minutes in my entire life, even though it was only for ninety minutes and I owe it to this film. This guys, is called a scientific movie. It heals.
For all of you who is giving this a negative review, screw you. Do you know how difficult is it to make a movie this boring? Do you have any idea? People like Nolan and Scorcese are out there making movies that makes sense, and its too cliché. We wanted something fresh, something too far from reality, and "Oceans Rising" gave it to me.
To be fair, I thought this was going to be a fourth sequel from Ocean's series. But this is waaaaay too ahead of ocean's series. This movie is a genre of its own.
And for those who are thinking to watch this movie - there is a thing you can do with a DVD. You can make a Frisbee out of it. Go ahead, try it. Try throwing the DVD as far as you can. And the next person who gets that thrown DVD, throw it again. Let us see how far it makes.
Sherlock: The Lying Detective (2017)
My best episode of Sherlock
>>>>>>>There are no spoilers<<<<<<<
Just the twist. That final reveal in the last two minutes of the episode - that's what made me write this review. I am sure, in the future when someone talks twists in TV series, this episode will be their benchmark. And why not? It has one of the most intriguing twists one can possibly imagine it. There is no way one can anticipate that would happen at the end.
But beside the large twist, the entire episode is a roller coaster ride. We see this episode from within Sherlock's mind, similar to the "Abominable Bride", but this time he is high on drugs. So, we travel along with Sherlock's confused state of mind when we ourselves have to deduce most of the information. The writers wanted to involve the audiences as much as possible here, giving us raw information, and letting us deduce the outcome. It was brilliant.
Hats off to the entire team of Sherlock. I am looking forward to seeing the final episode of this season next week.
Friends: The One Where No One's Ready (1996)
Pretty Awesome
This is one of the very few episodes where I feel it deserves full points. Plot - Other reviewers have written it. Strength - The entire episode is done in one room. The blocking and character timing are the major strength. It was indeed a risky episode, and the writers certainly knew this, for they made a brilliant script, and the actors acknowledged it. The chemistry between characters were shining, and most importantly, none of the friends are overshadowed by others. Everyone are at the top. Weakness - Rachael and Ross. This is the only chemistry in this episode which I felt did not work out. But it's just my opinion.
