White Lion (2010)
Sweet Movie Aimed at Children
This is a sweet movie aimed towards a younger audience but can be enjoyed by adults.
It follows the exploits of a white lion cub as it grows up to be a king of the jungle. Initially rejected by his pride because of his skin color (notice the hidden anti racism message) he soon moves location and befriends another big cat who is later shot by a hunter. Tragedy seems to follow him as his brother dies also early on. The interesting extras on the DVD show how it was made using heaps of lion cubs. Apparently white cub lions are quite common. Children will love some of the footage and enjoy the exploits and message behind the movie. If you get a chance sit down and give it a watch.
Challenging Impossibility (2011)
Great Sports movie for any athlete
This film incorporates everything people love about sports. Self competition, physical fitness, feeling good about yourself and so on. It looks at the remarkable weight lifting career of Sri Chinmoy who in his 70's was lifting weights that most people would find difficult if not impossible at any age. But that's what the movie is about. Challenging yourself to try things you don't think are possible.
With appearances from 9 time Olympic Gold medallist Carl Lewis, 5 time Mr Universe Bill Pearl and body building legend Frank Zane there is enough stars in the film for body builders and lifters to appreciate and take something extra out of the movie. I really enjoyed this and have watched it about 4 times.
Ocean Monk (2010)
Great alternative surf movie
Classic movie for all surfers out there who do it tough searching for waves. It also has a nice spiritual side to it which most surfers can identify with. The short film is set in New York City and the nearby ocean vista.
The movie looks at monks who surf, they are students of the late Spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy and it looks at there forthcoming relationship with the ocean and meditation. It has been on at heaps of surf festivals which shows how good it is. First time director Sanjay Rawal had his next big project on at Tribecca so he has some talent to scenically capture moments on film.
