Xi hong shi shou fu (2018)
Copy from another movie
I haven't seen this movie but by reading the story I have understood the fact that it's a copy from a couple south Indian movies where the lead actor is given a huge sum of money to be spent in 30 days but it cannot be used for personal savings or given as loan to anyone. The two south Indian movies are Arunachalam and Panam Paduthum Paadu.
Kabali (2016)
Rajini's smart move
I used to be a hardcore Rajini during my teenage days. But after sometime the craze went off because actors are not real life heroes. I still like Rajini and his movies. After seeing this movie all I understood that Rajini wanted to do something different from his usual way of stereotype movies and this movie is definitely reality based and gangster movie which is the real smartest move Rajini has done after a very long time. Though the movie has more of emotion than the regular type but this is what is happening in the real world and that's what the director has told us through this movie. A Tamil man in another land working for his livelihood and fighting with the authorities to get equality for him and his people and gets it done and from there he becomes a revolutionary turning to become a gangster (and does social service) who loses his family because of the enmity and jealousy of his rival gang and then he is caught by the law and is judged falsely and sent to prison and then comes back to avenge his family's death only to find out that his family is still alive. He then gets released and with the help of his old gang members not only gets back his family but he avenges by finishing off all his rivals (typical 'Godfather'style movie ending). It is a very good movie and Rajini has shown good acting in this movie. Though there are certain scenes which could have been improvised by the director but still looks good for the audience. The action is really class apart with a solid blood shed violence for which the movie should have been given PG15 (but has been given Ú' certificate). On the whole in my opinion it is not an really excellent movie (but it could have been if the scenes were improvised) but a really very good movie on the whole and it will surely be a blockbuster as Rajini has come back with a bang in this movie. Magizhchi (Cheers!).......
Eye in the Sky (2015)
One of the greatest movie
It's been a while since I've seen a thriller movie which is based on Intel is being gathered and decisions are planned and executed in today's world. I must say that this is the most brilliant movie I have even seen after a long time. Usually today's thriller and action movies are so predictable but this one is really based on how things exactly happen based on the observations and executions done politically, legally and "militarily". My eyes were just set on the movie and nothing else as this movie is excellent.
Every actor in this movie have done an exemplary performance. Very well planned and executed movie especially the end scene where the parents begging the army guys to save their daughter was such a heart breaking scene where I believe anyone watching it will be moved to tears. Such movies should not only get nominated but also win each and every award especially in the direction and picture category. Great job to the director Mr. Gavin Hood. Keep up the good work sir.....
Spectre (2015)
Good plot but boring
I've been a great fan of the JB series and I was expecting(somewhat like) a type of Skyfall as it was a film by Sam Mendes and as is this film too. Skyfall was a brilliant movie which is more like a psychological thriller action movie testing JB's mental status which was superb. But for this one, it was just too lengthy where some of the scenes were not required. I was expecting some punchy stunts with the Aston Martin DB5 but it was just like a circus stunt which was a waste of time. Similarly some of the scenes in the location where SPECTRE I was expecting something different but that was too wasted. Monica Belluci's character was totally wasted (She could have been used in a better way). On the whole this movie is just worth watching just one time. Sam Mendes could have done a better job and I didn't expect this type from the director. The plot was fine but the way it was taken is not good.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Very good movie
Well first of all I am great fan of the SW franchise and also a big fan of JJ Abrams. He is indeed a terrific director. I saw this movie along with my wife for the first time as a couple. We really enjoyed the movie in 3D. As far as the story goes it is a typical JJ's way of story telling and it was so cool. As somebody reviewed earlier that JJ is not a fan of SW. Yes I agree but he is a great fan of the Star Trek series and I believe that he has made this movie like a ST movie somewhere on the line. Though a few characters were missing in the movie but still the movie was awesome. Daisy Ridley really stole the show in this movie as well as John Boyega. Oh! And BB8 was so very cute and really caught the heart of the audience. I was actually expecting Mark Hamill to be at least be joining from the middle of the movie but in the end he appeared and looks like his presence in the end will surely be a turning point in the next sequel. The visuals were overall great but it could have been greater but still it was good. I don't know how others judge this movie. Yes... for some people it maybe a disappointment because they would have expected a "larger than life" type of this movie but for me it was really great movie and two thumbs up to JJ and his team for the great effort. Keep up the good work JJ...
