Dracula Sir (2020)
Too good to be true
To attempt making such a movie in Bengali film industry itself is a daring task. But to ace it with absolute perfection is another story altogether. The director did just that. It is not like the concept is new. But to connect it with a dark period of West Bengal and make it a period drama demands brilliance. Anirban dropped an Oscar level performance. The music was brilliant too.
Rajlokhi O Srikanto (2019)
Lived upto the expectation
Pradipta bhattacharya's works always elude me. Be it his short films or "bakita byaktigoto" the man always steal your attention even after you are done seeing the movie. This is not an exception. The portrayal of rural Bengal and the sharp contrast it has with the urban one goes with the theme of the movie. Srikanto is a famous character of Bengali literature. So making a movie on that character was always risky. But the director couldn't have done a better job.
Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017)
Nostalgia, old songs and a tale of unfulfilling love
This story comes from a city which lives on nostalgia and love : Kolkata. I also come from that city. So I can relate to the story pretty well. Every other guy from Kolkata in his adolescent period dreams of becoming a writer, finding someone who he can share his entire life with. Then reality happens. Some of them forget that dream. Some can't. This movie portrays all that in a perfectly feel good manner. The songs are just cherry on the cake.
