nice children's movie
9 October 2005
Kon, a brave inhabitant of the upper reaches of the forest, drops down towards the medieval society on ground level. Kon is considered a primitive because he doesn't wear much clothing and doesn't cover his ears. He falls in love with a simple maid and becomes the court-jester. Then suddenly the lake freezes over and it snows for the first time in living history. The king takes this opportunity to discover the mystical lands across the lake, a disastrous idea as the ice melts during the expedition... I won't give more details as it will take all the excitement out of the flick. I'll say this dough, well made, nice songs and fun to see. Takes the monkey with both primitive and advanced society. The one for being too conservative, the other for being backstabbing, intellectual and focused on clothing. Both are filled with superstition. Nice one!

Everyone says it's great

and I say it was rather a boring performance. Perhaps it's just the style of film-making as I found The Royal Tannenbaums rather boring as well. Bill Murray with his cute little red cap doesn't cut the mustard in this one. There were some visually pleasing jokes in it, see the remarks about the seahorse and the crabs elsewhere, but the main characters seemed drab and made of cardboard. It might have made a nice twenty minute short. For whom would this flick be interesting? If you like it real slow and you think a rerun of one of those Cousteau movies in combination with a reefer is good way to spend your Saturday evening this might just be the thing for you.

Warning: Spoilers
Complete lack of credibility, consistency or anything else interesting. The killers can't kill, the good guy has three days to live so he mainly sleeps. The sex scene contains no nudity. The computers where from 1999 which is rather odd seeing that the movie was made in 2003 and is about the future. The hero is very stupid, walking around with a tracer so he can be found anywhere and calling his house-address to here the voice of his dead wife. When he finally finds out he throws the tracer in the police-car of the guys following him. By the way, the green eye is a red herring.

This is a complete and utter waste of time, money and energy.
