I couldn't care less if it was staged or not, it's a well written and masterfully directed spectacle of nature!

Wanda Sykes: Not Normal
(2019 TV Special)
Wanda never disappoints
1 June 2019
She has been doing stand-up for thirty years and never have I seen a terrible show. She's indeed one of the best comedians out there, and I am not talking only between women, but in general. Physical comedy, well written scripts, perfect delivery: she has it all! And this new jokes feel fresh and funny, I really loved this Netflix special!
Jonah
(2015)
poetic carnival
19 May 2019
It is pure poetry, but it also reveals the social gaps that are disguised in the Brazilian geography by the little distance between the richest and the poorest. The scenes inside the whale are especially delicate and happen slowly as if they were in a particular world. It also draws much attention the enormous talent of the actor who lives the younger brother, Luan Marques.
The Jungle Book
(2016)
frustrating because it could have been a really amazing movie
28 February 2019
The Jungle Book is visually impressive, the script is very promissing and Jon Favreau are at his best as director, but it fails miserably in the most basic: the protagonist. It would be an excusable mistake only if the story didn't relied so much in Mowgli. And don't get me wrong: when a child actor is bad in a movie it's not his fault, he is just a kid, the guilt is entirely of the casting director and of the director. It's frustrating because it could have been a really amazing movie!
Hope Springs
(2012)
Sad, sweet and strange.
13 February 2019
Was this the beginning of Carrellnaissance? Maybe. I kept waiting for the joke and it never came. It was a modest role, but he was good in it. Meryl is never bad, but in this movie she seems to be overshadowed by Tommy Lee in one of his best perfomances ever. At times it looked like an couples counseling advertisement, but overall it was very sweet.
Brooklyn
(2015)
Simple, but well executed.
12 February 2019
It's a very simple story, but treated with so much care that you don't get bored. Difficult not to fall in love with Saoirse Ronan. The movie is forgettable, but her acting is not. Really incredible perfomance for such a young actress!
Black Panther
(2018)
I wish that I had liked more
12 February 2019
I really wish that I had liked more Black Panther and to be sincere I can't yet put my finger where it lost me, but I guess it was in the script. But if the movie fails to impress me Chadwick Boseman performance amazed me, it was nothing less than incredible, the role of a wise leader in a divided world fits him even better than his panther suit.
The Sahara's Secret Garden
(2000)
Frogs, fishes, crocodiles and an egret in an oasis in the Sahara Desert
11 February 2019
Inspired by the expedition of professor Hubert Gillet to the Ennedi Plateau fifty years ago the movie follow his steps searching for sources of water and remains of nature in this region before it was a desert. It is also an opportunity to learn more about the Bideyats, an nomad group that breeds camels and know the routes to hidden sources of water. It is a movie with a modest production and a simple script, but very poetic!
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
(2018)
Disappointing
8 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Not even Cher big entrance with her blonde platinated wig could save this sequel that starts too slow (all the first half hour of the movie could be shrinked), does not explain what happened with Donna and messes all the script of the first movie. I can't say it is a bad movie, but I don't pretend to rewatch so soon.
Concussion
(2015)
Will Smith is surprisingly good!
5 February 2019
I don't know if Will Smith's nigerian accent gets close to the original, but its musicality is very pleasing. It's also very nice to be reminded that Will Smith can acts very well when he bothers to choose some decent script. David Morse was incredible as Mark Webster, I wish he had more scenes the movie. Albert Brooks and Eddie Marson were also great even in smal roles. Alec Baldwin is always Alec Baldwin, always in the same kind of character.
Chasing Ice
(2012)
Daunting images of a future that we try to ignore!
4 February 2019
In this age of relativism the movie does a wise choice of not trying to convince with arguments that can be twisted, but only with the power of pictures. It was a risky shot in the dark wait for pictures that you can't plan, but it really pays off. As the photographer says in the movie there isn't more much discussion in the scientific field about the global warming, it is a real threat that is becoming faster and stronger each day!
A Hologram for the King
(2016)
A rought start, confusing in the middle, but a beautiful end.
3 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's supposed to be a dry comedy, but besides the dryness of the desert there is nothing really funny. If you think it as a familiar drama it's very shallow, the letters between father and daughter don't give much information. Maybe the best part in this movie that tries to figure out its genre is the romance, but it's just few minutes in the end.
