Inside the Criminal Mind (2017–2018)

Hmmm.

The narrator will have you wondering if this series is some kind of seriously dark comedy... unfortunately the subject matter makes it clear it's really not. The stories covered are interesting but having read other people's reviews here, it seems that a lot of the information given is incorrect, inaccurate or simply not true... Still, it certainly brings up a lot of interesting criminals in history that I'll be looking into from, hopefully, more reliable sources!

There She Goes (2018– )

Poignant, funny and real.

I'm at a loss for words to review this series but I simply must. I have no experience with autism personally but my child is severely disabled with special needs. I could relate so well to the general theme of parenting a special needs child that it really touched a nerve. Watching Hynes portray the pregnancy, the early stages of bonding and a special needs mother's isolation - especially the scene at a reading/singing group - were parts that I could relate to so fully it broke my heart. I cried and cried. But there are so many laughs in there too. The opening of episode one where they end up driving Rosie to the park is brilliant. People on the outside of these situations just don't realise how the smallest tasks with a special needs child can seem like moving the earth. And if we didn't laugh at these struggles sometimes, we would undoubtedly lose our minds. It all becomes so "normal" eventually that what might seem shocking to someone else is completely run of the mill for us! This series should be so enlightening to someone with no connection to a family coping with a life like this day to day. I recommend it to so many people for them to get an insight into my families highs and lows - and other families for that matter. For so many of us, this is real life and the series is perfect for raising awareness of another taboo subject. Hynes and Tennant do an outstanding job. It's brilliant. Watch it.

I want to love it more though!
3 November 2018
I have watched Season 1: Murder House so many times I couldn't guess the number. Returning to the house seven seasons down the line was always going to be difficult in some aspects (bodies age, people) but I was still painfully optimistic everything would look great regardless. Am I the only person to notice Michael's hair looked more like Tate's than Tate's did? If Michael isn't actually Tate's son, why is everything about them physically made to appear so alike? I'm sorry but I have been in love with the character of Tate for years, to see that unbearable wig broke my heart. Tate's hair (and Vivien's for that matter) - it can't be different!!! They are GHOSTS for Christ's sake! They don't get to pop out for a wash, dye and cut. This may seem trivial to someone popping in for a looksie at AHS. For a cult follower, I'm a wee bit (actually totally) disappointed. I wanted to love the final reunion of Tate and Violet, I've longed for it since the beginning, but I didn't SEE Tate, I just saw Evan Peters with a different wig on. My main point is, there were such massive conclusions in this episode to stories the die hard fans have longed for and I know I just watched thinking, Moira doesn't look like Moira, Tate doesn't look like Tate, Vivien doesn't look like Vivien... I just couldn't get back to that feeling I had when I first watched Murder House. It was probably too much to hope for. Please don't get me wrong. I loved the episode, it was great, honest. It just could never have really lived up to my expectations I guess. But I loved it nonetheless.

American Horror Story: Forbidden Fruit (2018)
Season 8, Episode 3

What?

Warning: Spoilers
I'm surprised at everyone's excitement and raving to see the witches from Coven return. It would be great if two of those witches weren't actually dead and the other wasn't blind, but they were..? That kind of takes the thrill out of it for me. And the fact that Madison Montgomery was such an easy character to utterly despise made her sassy little comment even more eye rolling. I totally get that American Horror Story doesn't always make sense, I've spent countless hours with people trying to explain various goings on in previous series so I'm not picking fault for no reason. It's also a little disappointing to get to the end of episode 3 and feel like nothing has actually happened yet. Can I add that I have watched every episode of the whole series countless times and would say American Horror Story is my absolute favourite TV drama EVER so to say I'm disappointed is a bit of an understatement. I wanted to love this series as much as all the others (and I do love them ALL), I was sure I would but right now I'm having doubts. Fingers crossed.
