Nightbooks (2021)
A perfect tween horror to Halloween
As a family we watched this with our 10 y/o daughter. She was definitely on edge, but loved it at the end with us there with her. Definitely not for someone under 10, but probably okay for kids watching alone at 11/12.
Hanging onto the coat tails of Grimm tale classics is not anything new, however, it puts a great twist on it. I especially loved the music, quotes and pictures referencing the classic movie The Lost Boys!
Enjoy.
Phoenix Wilder and the Great Elephant Adventure (2017)
Just tell yourself is a children's movie.
I felt dumber for watching this "children's movie". The director and editor should be removed from the movie business for letting the word "boy" or "good boy" be uttered no less than 500 times in this film. Huley's performance was also very lackluster..
Torden (2020)
Not your everyday Thor.
Spoiler alerts. My wife and I both loved this movie. It has a very slow character development that is amazing and welcoming. We both love that a quarter of the dialogue is in Norwegian the rest in English. Everybody seem so natural and not fake Hollywood. This is not a $150 million Hollywood budget Chris Hemsworth Thor high budget film. This actually has actors and that truly tug at your heartstrings at times and make things real.
I can't wait for the sequel. I wish they were more movies made like this.
Frostbite (2013)
Not a horror film, adjust a fun Canadian romp.
First of all I have no idea how this got placed in the Horror category, because it is a comedy through and through. There is a very comical storyline part to Sasquatch in the film and the first 2 minutes of the film might make the person who rated it a horror film, but they must have never actually watched the movie.
This is just a fun, stupid, stereotypical roleplay of people, especially Canadiens, but is completely light-hearted and if you like the Trailer Park Boys, why wouldn't you like this movie?
I'm actually surprised this hasn't gotten more reviews good or bad. But, I'm just a silly American that grew up near the Canadian border and enjoy the Canadian sense of humor and this has a lot of it as a B rate movie. And for god sakes it has Kokanee in it haven't seen Kokanee in years here in the states. And, there's Marty McSorley for god sakes it should had Cam Neely in there as Sea Bass, that would have taken it over the top.
