Man of the Year (2006)
Must see... particularly now after the great 2020 election!!
A must see for everybody to understand the truth about the US Election system. Especially after what we have just experienced now with the 2020 Presidential Election.
What did Ricky Gervais say in one of his famous Golden Globe Award monologues: "It"s funny because it's true!"
I hope people who saw that movie are having a strange kind of Deja Vu moment..
Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World (2010)
Much better than I thought
Hunting for new 3D releases (there are too few good ones actually) this Bluray was recommended to me by a salesperson in the store. I was positively surprised. Unlike other cheap 3D productions trying to jump on the bandwagon for a few quick bucks this Bluray has a good script, excellent 3D animations as well as educational value. My kids liked the way how the earths history has been graphically presented. The script and expert statements are good. It leaves you with this awe on how little we actually know about earths development and history. And obviously: More than 99% of all species that ever lived on the planet are extinct today.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013)
Funny & Enjoyable!
Having seen the shows of Sigfried & Roy, Criss Angel and David Copperfield in Las Vegas I really enjoyed this movie (persiflage). Some really hilarious scenes! I like Jim Carrey giving these Criss Angel style street performances! In another scene Steve Carrell decides to perform without his partner. The problem is that the program was scripted for 2 performers. You should see this!! I have a big smile on my face just thinking about this scene. Great moments! It was also good to see James Gandolfini again playing the casino hotel owner - only 3 days after I watched this he sadly passed away while vacationing with his son in Rome. One last remark: Don't give the Roten Tomatoes ratings too much credit.
World War Z (2013)
What a waste of money...
What a waste of money.... and I do not only mean for the tickets. The whole production must have been quite expensive. And I guess the taxpayer pays for all scenes where the US Navy or Airforce shows up? For what? The movie failed on all accounts and didn't even manage to create tension or scare people. The audience even started laughing in certain scenes. Uff I really don't know where to start: Satellite phones that work inside steel vessels, EMP kills electronics including satellite phones but only hours late they seem to be working again, amputations that don't cause the victim to bleed to death, kids that are totally cool after losing their families (high five!).... and i could go on and on. By the way the sponsors of the movie must have been Duct tape and Pepsi. The only creepy feeling i get is that movies like this or "The Purge" play a certain role to prepare society for future apocalyptic events. God bless America!
