Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
In no way resembles the source material
This film is not something I can recommend to anyone. Quite simply, it does not resemble the source material in any way. It changes far, far too many details. It barely keeps the basic events, and definitely misses all the themes possible. The acting is actually rather good, but the script and the songs are cheesy, if catchy. Jesus comes across as a self-centered child, while Judas is just hard to understand. I can't reconcile his actions with his penalties, and I can't believe he didn't understand that Jesus would die, or that he would commit suicide after Jesus LITERALLY forced him into it. Though, to be fair, he does seem to know that. About the only thing it got right is the whip scene. It hurts like heck, and it's a specific number of lashes. Other than that one scene, if you in any way care about any sense of accuracy or respect to the material, don't see this. If you want to hear some catchy songs, watch a Disney flick. If you are a non-Christian who wants some bad evidence to confirm your opinions, and some bad arguments, use this. (If you want good arguments, find something else.)
MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf (2004)
This Rocks!
You are in a gigantic battlemech, and you kill people. What's to hate about that?
There's really not much more to this game. It's got an interesting plot, but you sorta need to have played the first one, or know a little bit about the universe. Otherwise, some of the background doesn't make sense...
One thing that's really nice is the BattleArmor...it's a nice touch, and the levels where you can use it are honestly really fun...(It adds a nice extra...) Ditto with the VTOL...strategy rocks!
Best part is the final battle. It's got an "epic" feel...Much more than the last game's...
The whole plot with Allera, however, is sorta...um...Silly. Endingi makes it more interesting, though....#3 will hopefully continue it.
For the Spoiler (Though it's not much of one...) Basically, she reveals she's evil, then reveals she's not evil, and at the end, she blows herself up...but didn't actually die...you see her shadow at the end...
So...basically...you have a new character pop-in, and due to the few cinemas, you don't "care" when she's evil...nor when she dies...she makes a more interesting bad guy then good guy.
In the end, it's just FUN! And what's to hate about that? Plot be darned...
Red vs. Blue (2003)
It's Funny
Quite simply, it's some REALLY funny stuff...
I don't really think Season Two slacked off at the start...and I didn't notice the cleaned up language...
It's REALLY funny...And it's in short "Skits" too...
It's got some pretty good satire, and some REALLY funny crazy stuff, and it can be watched for...well...2 hours in one sitting...then for a LONG time...
Heck, my DAD likes it! (And he's over 50...) I haven't shown it to my mom, but she doesn't like cussing...
I recommend this to everyone...
Jade Empire (2005)
Bioware does it again.
How can I say this? Bioware does it again. It's a fun game, with a great fighting system, fun characters, and an interesting plot.
Who DOESN'T like the "comic relief sadist", and Sky, the smart aleck thief. Heck, even Zu gets some nice lines. Plus, characters often have interesting "twists" which adds to the fun.
All in all, I'm hard-pressed to find flaws...You can switch styles, which prevents boredom, and even get a GUN! I cannot find a reason NOT to play it, other than the fact that it REALLY needs a "script" downloadable...because of the cool quotes! Are you playing this yet? THEN GO BUY IT!
Innocence (2004)
Philosophicall Pretentious...
It was a fun movie....With an interesting philosophy, but....
Ultimately, the philosophy has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the climax of the film! It has some darn pretty images, but really...
If you're going to go on and on about dolls and humans...At least make the pay-off be something that makes them COMPARABLE...
Honestly, it sounded like they were setting up for having the DOLLS doing it...But it turned out that the dolls were nothing but Human Souls entrapped in Dolls...Crying out for help because they were imprisoned...
And the big philosophical ramifications just didn't have anything to do with it...Dolls are dolls because, by nature, they have no "self" whatsoever...Unless he was TRYING to destroy the philosophy he was presenting, but it sure didn't sound like that...
Honestly, most of the cast comes out as so philosophical, they ignore what's really going on...They're more concerned with dolls that are incapable of independent THOUGHT, that they forget about human beings who were suffering...Then again, the film would say that we don't care about the "dolls", because they have no voice...but if they did have a voice, would they have anything to say? (Answer=HELL NO!) DANG IT! Now I want to watch it again...Even If I hate the philosophy, it gets me thinking...The philosophy is nice, the action is nice...
The ending with the ghost-dubbing sucks...The characters come across as philosophically pretentious with a VERY real ending...(That, and Major Kusanagi abandoning a physical body goes against the stated goals of the Puppet Master AI...A physical body is necessary to experience reproduction + death, which the Puppet Master found important...) Aw...HELL...Go see the dang thing at least once...Even if you hate it, it'll hopefully get you thinking...Just make sure to listen to the philosophy scenes...
Now I want to listen to the stinking' director's commentary on the finale...ARGH! Even if I hate it I want to watch it...
