A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
Better than "Let The Right One In"
If there has been any film in the past decade that has reinvigorated my love for vampire films, it is A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. The film is a brutal, relentless, and absolutely gorgeously directed masterpiece.
The first Iranian Vampire Western ever made, Ana Lily Amirpour's debut basks in the sheer pleasure of pulp. A joyful mash-up of genre, archetype, and iconography, its prolific influences span spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films, and the Iranian New Wave.
Like a mosaic of shimmering fragments that do not compose a bigger picture, Amirpour's debut feature brims with stylized qualities that have been prioritized over story and characters.
The Soundtrack is fantastic too.
Bela Lugosi would have liked this one...
Incendies (2010)

300 (2006)
A lot of special effects.....and what then?
Well if you like mindless entertainment without meaning, you might enjoy this stupid orgy of blood and violence. To me it's just crap....
It's all Hollywood again...I don't like paying money to see mindless action and special effects. This movie lacks research and historical facts.
Xerxes, the Persian king, is bedecked in jewelry and facial piercings, and has an effeminate, clean-shaven look. He's also distinctly dark-skinned and not at all Persian-looking....this is just one thing, there are a lot of them.
A film made for kids!!! What's all the hype about?
THIS IS FOR THE ONES WHO LOVE THIS FILM!!!!
If there are people here who don't like this movie, let them write or say what they want...democracy!!! Ever heard about it?
Hable con ella (2002)
absolutely amazing Almadovar !!!!!
Almadovar's best picture so far. The story is very original; the music is rich, haunting and sensual and the actors are very natural. I love the scene were we see Caetano Veloso perform, the music is so intense, it brings tears to my eyes
..Lovely!!!
The theater performances in the beginning and the end of the film are also very stylish and unusual. The last dance at the end of the film where we see couples dancing where the women lift their hips
.so erotic and tastefully created visually. Another thing I liked about this movie was the Black & White part, made the old fashioned way like Charlie Chaplin films. The scene where we see the shrunken man crawling around his lover's body
..I think that scene captures all men's fantasy. Very controversial
..
I must admit that the movie really blew me away the first time I saw it. I had been seeing a lot of crap Hollywood movies and was waiting for a Good movie to watch. And there it was
.absolutely amazing Almadovar !!!!!
Not Without My Daughter (1991)
this movie is awful in many ways...
I think this movie is awful in many ways.
First of all it's filmed in the most deserted and horrifying areas around Kabul (Afghanistan) and we are supposed to think its Tehran, the capitol of Iran. That gives a wrong impression of this beautiful city.
Second, the Persian family that is presented here in this lousy American propaganda movie is a very unusual family. I'm a Persian myself and I've never come across meeting or even heard of such a family. I think this movie gives a completely wrong and distorted picture of what a Persian family is like.
I live in Denmark, and a lot of my friends asked me after watching this movie, is it really like this in Iran. And of course I said 'NO'. Because it isn't. It's not Paradise either, but it's not that bad, as we see it here in this picture. I've noticed how this movie has affected people's vision of Iran in a wrong way.
Third, it doesn't make sense to me at all. Moody is a loving father, a man that has been living in America for many years, suddenly when he comes back to Iran he's transformed into a tyrannical, cold-hearted beast. It's not logic
..He must be a very disturbed man.
This movie among many others is used for making a commercial for U.S.A. A politically propaganda movie. We are supposed to conclude that America is the perfect country, and every time there is something wrong in other areas of the world, America is there like an angel, and America will save us from all evil. I'm sick of this Americanisation. America is NOT the world
and I'm extremely happy about that!!!!
I've seen other people comment on how good and factual this movie is!!! To those I would say, unless you are Persian or Iranian, you should not comment on this film at all. This movie has only been made for propaganda.
Can you tell me about an American movie that has been made about (Iran) that is positive?
Please write back to me and name some movies!!! Surprise me please!!!
