And it gave us Ben and Matt to boot
29 August 2004
I have seen this film 3 times, and find myself liking it more with each viewing. There is a lot going on throughout the story. It is a lot about growing up--a lot about finding the courage to better yourself, and accept who you are without listening to friends you love, but may be better without for a while. The Oscars that year must have been interesting---(is there any tape available for previous Oscar telecasts?). These two unknown children dominating the awards. It's just become a classic movie now.

I like the story and the message it gives. I'm not too familiar with film school teachings, but obviously, these two must've done something right. Perhaps, the film school should examine their curriculm, eh?

Roadie (1980)

Love finding these DVD's of movies we haven't seen in years
29 August 2004
Roadie is a silly movie, but it has its moments. My husband & I still have our occasional brain locks. We saw this on HBO in about 1980, and hadn't seen it since, but still talked about it. We found it on DVD last month and we laughed and sometimes said oh--didn't Blondie look really good then, and Hank Williams Jr. was kinda tame. We liked it. Some times it is over the top, but most times is kinda sweet and the music is not bad, except the title version of Everything Works if you Let It (there is another version which is not so bad in the movie) by Cheap Trick. Alice Cooper is fun to watch, but not as much fun as Meatloaf, and luckily they got Art Carney to play Dad.

This movie scared my sister&I to death when we were young
29 August 2004
My sister & I had searched for this movie to see it again after we had nightmares for weeks after seeing this movie some 35+ years ago. I finally founding looking in a database in a video store computer and ordered it. You have to lighten up your screen some, to see all that goes on, and parts of it are too funny now---but it's not a bad premise for a scary story, and images like the skull in the bridal gown I will never forget. I now have to find the 1973 version of this film. I'm curious also to see the double feature---the DVD has a schlocky 70's vampire movie as the 2nd feature. So seeing it this summer after waiting over 30 years for it? It wasn't that bad.
