Like Mike (2002)
7/10
I wouldn't want to be Like Mike - I'd be called sellout! Then again...
4 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This was the first film I saw with my friend/rec worker when we started out first contract. It looked interesting because I find I like *SOME* films that center around certain sports and also because Eugene Levy was in. It seems the entire cast of SCTV has been in quite a few interesting films.

I hate Lil Bow Wow, but his acting was decent. I was surprised to see Crispin Glover in it (the only film I ever saw with him was Back To The Future), and this time, he was a NASTY man! Morris Chestnutt was also great. Lil Bow Wow's character made me a bit nauseous at times because he often got on Tracy's (Chestnutt) nerves as well as almost making himself puke with room service! Still, the movie was rather enjoyable. It wasn't one of the best I've ever seen but one young kids should enjoy.

I'm downgrading this to -50 because it totally ruined the TV series
21 December 2004
I was totally enjoying the animated TV show of "Pippi Longstocking" in the sixth grade (yes, my sister did talk me into it!). I thought the animation was flat but still colourful and that the voice actors did their job well (two of whom included Melissa Altro who does Muffy on "Arthur" and squeaky-voiced Wayne Robson who plays that hack Mike on "Red Green Show"), and so I thought I shouldn't miss the movie when it comes on TV. Now, I can see why it went directly to video.

The stupid songs that underline this are atrocious, the animation is much flatter, the plots are recycled and it just goes nowhere! I don't think Gordon Pinsent or Catherine O'Hara were stupid enough to participate in this!!! My advice to you all is this: AVOID THIS TRASH ALL TOGETHER! How dare they butcher Astrid Lindgren's beloved red-headed character! Ever since I saw the movie, I can never watch the great animated TV show anymore! Thanks for nothing!

Square One Television (1987–1992)
Why is this sitting in the vaults!?!
23 August 2004
Having seen so many of the videotapes I erased of Square One TV, I feel like such a dummy for not keeping them. The show has been gone for 10 years, and no network in my area is showing reruns of the episodes. PBS won't even air Mathnet either!

Square One TV was an amazing and fun show for the young and the old. It was more than just a math show. It also had tongue-in-cheek music videos ("Less Than Zero" is one of my favourites), David Numberman, Dirk Niblick, Piece of the Pie...and of course, MATHNET! I couldn't really decide if I liked the early ones (in LA with Kate Monday) or the later ones (in NYC with Pat Tuesday) better. But each show was quite fun! Some fans of action movies, however, probably wouldn't like Mathnet because George and Kate/Pat used calculators instead of guns. Boy, taking a stroll down Memory Lane makes me hyper!

Still, I wish PBS would quit hiding this show in the vaults, and, if they won't license it to another company, just release it on DVD. I'd buy all the episodes! Because my videotapes (if any) are wearing out, and I'd love to have a piece of my early years back again!

If anybody out there from PBS is reading this, I hope they understand my plea!
