The Batman (2022)
Boring, underwhelming, depressing, no heroes.
If you want to be depressed, this movie is for you.
Batman can barely, run, jump, fight or read the moves of his enemies. The movie begins trying to express how the fear batman uses is powerful yet no one really fears Batman. He's just a bad detective who is always 1 step behind instead of the 1 step ahead. Batman is apparently as blind as an actual bat as he never sees or reacts to villans shooting at him in time. Unlike a Bat, he's also mute, hardly ever speaking....not the leader and general we are used to seeing in the animated versions, comics or movies.
Bruce Wayne pretty much doesn't exist in this either as he's just constantly depressed and shows zero charm. I'm honestly surprised at all of these good reviews. Batman is basically just an ultra depressed goth, with no real character traits that are interesting.
The Riddler also acts like the Joker at times, like two face at other times, and like Scarecrow at the rest of the time. Its also obvious from watching this film that the dark theme is taken from Nolans batman, and there are elements from the series Gotham. The Ridlers voice at the end actually sounds the same as the one from Gotham but most of the time sounds like someone else.
Gotham and Nolans batman are far better than this. Its also too bad we didn't get a Batfleck movie. This is definitely not worth watching unless you want a boring, long, and drawn out film. Most of the characters are boring and nonsensical. People are happy Batman doesn't kill like Batfleck yet everyone just dies anyway because of his incompetence.
Honestly Batman wasn't even a hero in this film so what is the point of making a superhero film without the main character being a hero or even super (no batman brain here). Save your sanity on this one. I don't look forward to future films of this if its going to be like this movie.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Depression and Fear over Entertainment
This film has an obvious agenda that brings nothing but fear and depression. It is obvious that the film was sponsored for this intended purpose.
Since climate change has become a global phenomenon, the message is quite simple. Do anything the powers at be tell you or else your planet will be falling apart like this one. Of course the film doesn't show how it fell apart, it only shows a know-it-all scientist not care about anyone or anything else because he has to send his daughter into space to save her. The little girl was cliché and we all knew who she was too. And of course someone had to die in the most miserable vain way possible.
The film is boring, there is no logic to it. The technology used on the ship surely could have saved millions if not billions. There is no explanations given to answer the films most pressing questions. We see no significant footage of anything that would enhance the film or it's setting. In fact following the main character around, I'm not even sure of what was real or not, in fact maybe 80% his clips, including outside of the girl, never really happened. Its all insane to say the least.
The bottom line is that everything in this film leads to vanity and depression. There is no movie here. Just an egotistical agenda. My mistake for not reading the reviews or ratings first before watching.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Good but could be better.
Good acting (for the most part), interesting story and Batman is realistic. Anyone saying Batman is too dark has probably only seen him in the theaters. The biggest problem with the movie is the poor choice of actor in lex luther. This could probably have been fixed by replacing the actor and tying the looks change into some freak chemical or genetic accident or something. The other problem is that the film shifted away from Batman vs Superman. I think when you name the story as such, adding extra things is not an issue as long as it does not detract from the main title and main story. In this case it did and I found that an issue. Let's be real though, the best thing about this movie is this version of Batman. Unfortunately everyone knows that WB messed this up badly with their lack of patience and incompetence. They probably could have made record sales with this Batman...oh well. Other than that it was good.
Tales from the Loop: Home (2020)
Intriguing but depressing.
This world was made to be this way by this way by the writers to illustrate what humans go through with the passing of time. The issue is, it is not interpreted this way by everyone and can bring quite a depressing tone. The entire series is about tragedy and that can weigh on you. As sci-fi, nothing is really explained and this last episode is no exception. That leaves me a little disappointing. The acting is good and the music is good but entertaining, this is not. So 7/10 for this episode.
Escape Room (2019)
This is basically a worse copy of another movie
This is basically like the movie the cube. The only difference is that the rooms don't shift around and move with the exception of one room. The concept is virtually the same; find a way out or die. The cube was slightly more complex and honestly better even though as a whole not that good. The high ratings come from those basically born yesterday who don't remember the cube. I'm in my 20s and even I remember this movie. The acting is bad, the plot is bad and at the end they rob the feeling of justice from you leaving you feeling extremely empty and dissatisfied. Its amazing that they keep still make movies this bad and wonder why people don't go to the movies anymore. The cube, although a little futuristic for the time, was believable how the rooms were set up and how they moved. This however is not. The rooms are incredibly complex with tons of furniture and intricacies and to make it even more unbelievable at the end of the movie they make every detail put into the rooms, as well as the rooms themselves, pretty much disappear. Its amazing that when the survivors are picked up, the cops just decide to not investigate right away. I don't know what to tell you about this one except just don't watch if you don't want brain cells dying from a high level of writing stupidity.
ReBoot: The Guardian Code (2018)
A ReBoot straight to the behind
If you liked the original ReBoot series, you wont be liking this one; infact you may be straight up insulted.
ReBoot was a ground breaking and historic Canadian made first of it's kind computer animated television show that paved the way for modern CGI. Loyal fans of the show for years tried effortlessly to see the show return to the television screen after the series ended in a cliffhanger some 17 years ago. So you would think when they finally did a reboot of ReBoot that they would get it right and then some. Well this is not the case here.
ReBoot: The Guardian Code seems to do it's best job at ruining it's predecessor. It is beyond me some of these companies seem to always forget the good business practice of "listening" to what their "audience" wants. It has always spelled success when actually done so but still many companies of various types do not listen and then wonder where they went wrong. There is a word for that and it is call "pride" and "pride" does not "pay".
In ReBoot the Guardian Code the makers of the show went away from all the principles and rules that made ReBoot what it was, literally; from the story-line, to their villains (especially "the User") to even what the show was known for which was their computer generated characters but instead added real life human characters whom in the original ReBoot were a type of villain whom were never seen and never were supposed to be seen but in this show they are heroes whose appearance is no surprise to the inhabitants of Mainframe who were used to losing their loved ones to the User (humans) but I guess its all cool now just because. The original ReBoot was also known for it's use of spoofs of other shows and real life events in history as well as it's movie like story line and drama scenes which featured many adult themes such as war, psychological scars and dealing loss. Comparing the original ReBoot to ReBoot: The Guardian Code is like comparing the Avengers to The Last Airbender. The quality and story is dumbed down and considerably worse in every aspect imaginable and this is why it truly deserves a 1 star. If I could give 0 stars I would still give one star just for some of the effort by the visual team and trying to cast some of the original voices in the 10th episode. But the 1 star is truly deserved because in the 10th episode the writers decided to mock the fan base by presenting us with an old school stereotypical nerd who watches old ReBoot episodes in his mother's basement. In a day and age where bullying is condemned and where even Bob himself believes he could change bullies like Megabyte and Hexadecimal they chose to bully the fan-base that was loyal since the creation of the original show. A true controversial low blow that not even South Park creators would attempt, certainly not to their own loyal fan-base directly. So yea 1 star for this show, it has truly earned it.
Interstellar (2014)
A very entertaining movies with just a few flaws
So here is my view on this movie in a condensed version.
Pros: 1) There are some very interesting and creative ideas about how climate change could affect out planet in the future 2) There is a lot of excitement in this film with with humanity being on the line and with a long shot going as wrong as it could have gone 3) There is some nice father daughter drama going on here as well as some nice drama between other characters within this movie 4) Some nice and new fresh ideas of humanities technologies of the future such as an ai, space craft etc are found 5) The visuals are absolutely stellar in this film and really appeals to satisfy the imagination
Cons: 1) To many plot holes and too many questions unanswered; maybe i missed where they talked about this but what happened to the person on the last planet? Also if it was Cooper who was really the alien, who opened the black hole in the first place? Did the black hole ever end up closing or did it remain open always? Why did they not go to look for Ms Brand when they know absolutely everything about that blackhole especially when they know where the last planet is? How are they all of a sudden able to build a "Jupiter Station"? What actually happened to the earth and why could the earth not be repaired? 2) The paradox of how Cooper was the alien that did everything that cause earth to be saved (blackhole, send messages through time. What was the first point that initiated everything? 3) God status- i'm not sure why it is always necessary to raise humans in movies to a god status and as can see it is what causes the paradox in the movie 4) Logic and Realism- the events like the wormhole, having the technology to perfectly fly through it without problem, being able to calculate absolutely everything without any aliens to help is absolutely impossible, how and where did this knowledge come from? If it came from Cooper in the blackhole that makes no sense because it is obvious that, that knowledge was also used to build the Jupiter station which means it probably could have been used to save the earth, many things just do not add up logically and the list can go on and on.
For a movie though it delivered what it should have and did it well, interesting story, interesting ideas, interesting characters, originality and breathtaking visuals and that is why i rated it high because a movie should be enjoyable and despite the cons i mentioned it was absolutely enjoyable.
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Could have been better.
What can I say about this movie...it had potential but it failed epically.
There were too many cheesy parts to this film and a lot of unanswered questions. In fact almost every question that may have been brought up in the film went unanswered. For example why is it that Snow White was respected by a troll? That was never answered and also what was the real significance of the moose? The logic in this film was also way off, Snow White never had a scratch on her despite being in a battle, being imprisoned, jumping off of a cliff and going through a killer forest. She even had perfect speech yet probably had no social life in a dungeon. There were too many unbelievable and unrealistic things in this film. Acting wise Chris Hemsworth was really good but most of his parts especially comedy wise were destroyed by Kristen Stewart's awful acting. She needs to go to or go back to acting school. She showed no expression the whole film whether to love or anger to a Ravenna who kept her locked up most of her life, destroyed her kingdom and killed her father. It was painful to watch her expressions as it often looks like she is confused on what to do or how to react. Charlize Theron also did a nice job although the poor directing clearly ruined some of her scenes as she stood for too long in some scenes doing next to nothing. The dwarfs were also pretty convincing. Another problem with this movie was that the drama aspects and the love portion of the story amounted to nothing and the action scenes (minus though's with Chris Hemsworth) were very dull especially Snow White's not to epic battle at the end where she stabs Ravenna and quotes something about fairest blood which of course was never explained properly and we weren't sure if the blade had blood on it or if she just had to stab her. One thing I did not buy from this film was this fairest pure garbage because Snow White seemed far from pure being a coward, horrible strategist, whorish (kissing two guys and girl) and killing people. There was nothing special in her character that showed she was pure, all we saw was some beast obeying her which was not further explained.
All in all this movie is a 4 because of poor directing, some plot holes and Kristen Stewart's horrible acting especially towards the end.
2012 (2009)
A pretty bad movie to say the least
So I never actually intended to watch this movie since I do not really believe in the 2012 end of the world thing but instead i watched it on the day it was supposed to happen just for kicks and laughs. The movie however was much worse than I thought and could not even bring out any laughs...well maybe a little for how ridiculous it was.
I'm a little surprise no one had picked up on this but there was really only one purpose to the entire movie. First of all let me tell you that my review will contain spoilers:
So the purpose of this movie was to straight out bash religion. The main focus was obviously to bash the bible a little more but generally all religion. If you take note to details in the film you will see that a lot of the people whose deaths were focused on (not all but a lot) were religious people. Catholics were were shown worshipping in the church and monks in the temple when oblivion hit. The president, who was to most likely there to represent Obama and Obama's ties to Christianity is shown wanting to pray to God rather than escape with the scientists, rich people, and other atheists. The main geologist who is one of the main characters of the movie decides to talk to his father who mentions that "God" knows how much he loves him. Now it could just be a saying here or he could be religious. Later on its kind of ironic that an earthquake would hit under their location and cause a tsunami that would kill everyone on board the sea ship that the geologists father was on despite being far out to sea. That same waves travels all the way Washington DC where the president who had just survived an earthquake and seems to be the only one to survive is hit with the same same ship the geologist was on which was being carried by the wave, a horrible fate for two religious men. Then all the main characters dodge ridiculous odds and go to China, a communist and open atheistic country, to board what was first thought of as a start ship or space craft but was actually a man made ark like "Noah's Ark" from the bible but instead man made. Why was only china able to make this in time? Probably because of their Darwinian example of survival of the fittest (money, support from the rich, possibly forced labor). The people then had to board quickly because a tsunami was going to hit them faster than they expected. They tried to leave those who were not on the ship behind. But the geologist who believes in human's inner goodness as displayed throughout the entire movie wants to show compassion for his fellow man unlike the Noah story in the bible where the ark was shut after years of warning and the people could no longer get in which is probably to symbolize that atheists are nicer than God or something of the such. After their compassionate act or whatever they realize that the whole world was not flooded over (because they thought it would be) but that the whole continent of Africa had raised up higher so that the waves couldn't reach it. This would not only prove the evolution theory that there was no universal flood but that Noah himself probably saved himself like this and not by God's hands but by his own human will and power.
The reason the movie was so bad was because it was all based on Atheistic Evolution vs Religion and there is no fun in a war zone of ideals. The movie was not based on actually making a good story line and including logic in the actual events. I don't know if they are trying to say random chance can cause this to happen or something but come on. The movie's effects were way overdone, nothing made sense from beginning to end in terms of logic and the Mayans were mentioned once in the entire film (probably so that its religious component wouldn't be a factor).
All in all I give this film a 2/10, i would have given it a 1 but some visual effects in the movie weren't that bad.
