The Rift: Dark Side of the Moon (2016)
Poor quality film
As a sci-fi fan I can say this does not have any merit. There is no science in this fiction. It's loosely based around a time/space rift, but in a nonsense way. The acting is poor, the script makes little sense. The rating for this film is accurate, I would say a 4 out of 10 is about right. I struggled to stay awake at times.
Sabotage (2014)
Better acting than normal for this type of film
I've read lots of harsh criticism for this film in many reviews. I'm not sure what these guys were expecting when they sat down to watch an Arnold action film. This movie delivered what most people would expect from such a film. The acting was generally better than I've seen in many of this type. The plot was solid with a little "who done it" going on and a slight twist at the end. Overall I recommend this film to people that like action flicks. So for my overall rating of 8/10, understand this is 8/10 for an action type film. Not trying to compare this to all movies ever made. I don't even remember a catch phrase they were going for in this movie like they do in many of them. And not really any corny lines. I felt all the dialogue was realistic and helped the film.
Fogo (2012)
largely a waiste of time
Not sure how this has rated 6.3 rating at the time I looked at it. It has no story, no dialogue and no purpose. Really can't say too much about the film because not much happens in the film. Reading the description tells you more about the film than actually watching it. This is just a story about people that are too hard headed to move when the environment is forcing them to. People and animals have to adapt to a changing landscape and environment. Always have, always will. Not sure why someone thought this was worth making a movie about. I think there are about 6 people in the film and probably not more than 50 words spoken, most of them are difficult to understand due to the heavy accent. Most action packed part of the movie is when a man chops down a tree. I rated the movie a 5 which is mostly because the landscape of the frozen tundra is kinda nice and they did a nice job with the camera usage.
Gone (2012)
Refreshing writing
The main thing I enjoyed about this film is the fact at no point watching it did I feel like the leading actress was doing something incredibly stupid. I can't ever remember watching a film where there was a female lead role in a thriller where she's not doing something nobody else in their right mind would do. During the climax of the film when all the typical clichés in thrillers take place and you just sit there grimacing at how bad the writing/directing is, I found myself refreshed by how quickly it transpired to a definitive resolution. I wish other writers would follow suit. The acting was good, the directing was good as well as the plot. Highly recommend.
