Noah (2014)
"The animals are more innocent than humans." "Noah" – is the Year's First Must-See Movie! Jennifer Connelly as Naameh is superb.
Synopsis: When the World got into the darkness. When a man kills a man, brother kills a brother. When there is no mercy left, but inhumanity and unkindness. When the animals deserve more compassion than humans: The Creator speaks to Noah (Russel Crowe) through a series of mysterious dreams and asks him to save his wife Naameh, his sons Ham (Logan Lerman), Shem (Douglas Both) and Japheth (Leo McHugh Carroll), and Shem's wife Ila (Emma Watson) who was adopted by Noah as an infant. Noah through his dreams was informed by The Creator about the destruction of the World. And there is no one except Noah and his family should have been survived, and yet, animals.
The new film "Noah" stars Russell Crowe as the man chosen by God to collect pairs of Earth's animals on a massive ark to save them from a global flood. But how could Noah build that huge Ark alone? Darren Aronofsky offers us The Watchers, a race of fallen angels who were encrusted by hardened magma created when they all fell from Heaven to Earth. Even though, the Watchers were kind of unfriendly with Noah, in the end The Fallen Angels agreed to help Noah to complete his task assigned by God, and sacrifice their lives to protect Noah from Tubal-cain (Ray WInstone) as the Watchers believe that Noah is a man they came to help.
Despite the Epic story of Noah's Ark, Darren Aronofsky suggests us his own story of a Man, who is not just hero, and anti-hero as well, which basically makes his film even better. In "Noah" we will see everything: starting with the flower that blooms from nothing, large scale scenes, The Watchers with kind of look like "The Transformers", the arrival of animals to the Ark, the flood, and destruction of the World. Furthermore, we will see as Noah being so determined with his task: believes that only the animals should survive – that after the flood he will have to kill his wife and children and himself, to prevent sinful humanity from angering The Creator again. But what's point of destroying the World, if the human still has no mercy after all? Officially, Oscar 2015 race can start with "Noah". Why do I think so? Well, there are a couple strong keys that might help 'Noah' to be nominated for the Oscars: Stunning Visual Effects, costumes, sounds, and more ever, the story, that will not bore you throughout the film.
If you have seen the movies directed by Darren Aronofsky such as "Requiem for A Dream", Black Swan", and "The Fountain" you will understand what is more important for Darren. This person can conquer your heart not just with stunningly cinematography, visual effects, and the story that might not leave you alone after watching the movie. Darren Aronofsky always uses any available opportunity to unbare the dark side of human beings. If you had a chance to see the films I've mentioned above, then you might agree with me. But without good actors, Darren Aronofsky would never be able to achieve what he has achieved now.
Academy Award winner Russell Crowe stars as Noah will bring you two side of Noah: a good and a bad side. Russell knows exactly how to disappear in the character he needs to play. In my opinion, Russell was quite emotional in a couple scenes. He can make his viewers love him and hate him at the same time. But it's definitely not the performance of the Year, but his acting was quite solid to assure you, that his mission accomplished successfully.
Jennifer Connelly has shared the screen with Russell Crowe before in "Beautiful Mind: which brought her many Awards, including 'Oscar'. And she also had experience working with Darren in "Requiem for a dream." In "Noah" Jennifer is superb as Naameh.
A dialogue with Noah was absolutely speechless. She delivered the Year's performance so far. Unfortunately, watching the movie in the theatre limits you in many ways. If I would have an ability to replay the same scene as many times as possible, I would definitely do that just to enjoy Jennifer's breathtaking performance over and over again.
I have to admit, I was quite surprised seeing Emma Watson's performance in 'Noah". As Ila, she was absolutely stunning and unique. The scene on the Ark with Noah is the beginning for Emma's brilliant acting career. If she continues to play the way she played in "Noah" – she will be having a very bright future.
Darren Aronofsky brought us a different Noah: - Noah, that can be good and bad. But it does not matter how far he will go to save his family and animals from the flood. In the end, he will not fail the Creator. Because love, compassion, and mercy is all what we need to live our lives with dignity.
Believe (2014)
it worth to watch it!
Review - 'Believe" (2014)
Genre; Drama/Fantasy
Director: Alfonso Guaron
Writers: Alfonso Cuaron (creator), mark Friedman (creator)
http:truemoviebuff.wordpress.com
Cast: Jake McLaughlin as Tate, Johnny Sequoyah as Bo, Jamie Chung as Channing, Seinna Guillory as Moore, Kyle MacLachlan as Skouras, Delroy Lindo as Milton Winter
When I first time heard about this TV show, I told myself; "Finally, since "Fringe" we're going to see something extraordinary interesting on TV". But when that "extraordinary" comes with such big name as Alfonso Cuaron, then we all have no choice but at least to watch the Pilot episode of "Believe". and that's I exactly what I did.
Since we had so many cancelled TV shows such as 'Alcatraz", "Event", and "Park Avenue", film makers should be extra careful with picking a new idea, before making a new show. Because, it is not that easy to make us watch something ridiculously unrealistic story.
Since Alfonso Cuaron is the one who has created "Believe" I would still take a risk and watch it. Because this person is smart enough to not offer a boring story. "Believe" tells the story of a little girl Bo (Johnny Sequoyah) with extraordinary gift. And certainly, having such a power (still unknown what is her power about except a few tricks she has done in the first episode) not safe for a little girl. And to make sure that she is safe, Milton Winter (Delroy Lindo) asks Tate (Jake McLaughlin) to take care of her from Moore (Seinna Guillory) and Skouras (Kyle Maclauglan).
In the first episode we see a few action scenes, which is mean that there are still many more are coming. It's still unclear what kind of organization is coming after Bo, but it more looks like a security agency who also wants to own/to take under control Bo's power. The story still developing, and it goes deeper so far which makes me to watch the second episode as well, just to make sure that it really worth to watch it.
It's hard to say whether I liked "Believe" or not. But in one fact I am absolutely certain; it does not matter who stays behind this story line, Alfonso Cuaron or Steven Spielberg, all what is important is a good acting. If the actors are good enough to execute their roles and makes us believe that they are the part of the show, then yes, I am in. I'll be there wit them till the end. And so far, I see a quite believable performance in "Believe" which is a good sign.
Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing (1955)
"Will You Believe Unbelievable?"
Movie Review "LOME IS A MANY-SPLENDORED THINGS" Director: Henry King Year Release ; 1955 Cast: Jennifer Jonnes as Dr. Han Suyin and William Holden as Mark Elliott
If you really want to understand the difference between "Modern Hollywood" and "Old Hollywood, then it is more than enough to see the movie "Love is a Many-Splendored Things" that will be able to answer to all your questions. The movie "Love is many Splendored Things" directed by Henry King (Snows of Killimanjaro) tells the story of two people that falls in love to each other and despite everything have decided to be together. Dr Han Suyin (Jennifer Jones) not that young but very attractive woman, and a widow. Mark Elliot (William Holden), a war correspondent and married man. They met each other in Honk Kong, and since the moment they have met, they knew only one world – The World that they have created for themselves. In spite of everything, Han Suyin and Mark will continue seeing each other and make plans that are not destined to be fulfilled.
Henry King, quite talented director, who brings us over 100 movies. And he's like no one else knew the way to tell us the love story that will never be forgotten. In addition, Henry King knew that the story he had to convey to the viewer occurred in real life between the British war correspondent and Dr. Sui Wing. But, soon, Mark was killed in the line of duty in Korea.
Despite the fact, that both actors literally hated each other and almost never talked during filming the movie: Jennifer Jones (Beat the Devil, Carrie, Portrait of Jennie) and William Holden (Sunset Blvd, The wild Bunch, Casino Royale) were so remarkable and believable in their role, that sometimes it seemed that the feelings of the characters have long been transported into a real world. And both actors were able to deliver us the love story that has become one of the most memorable in Cinematography World. Although this story was not the future, and it was very short life, but it was enough time for them to experience for yourself how love is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
And both actors have delivered a remarkable performance of two people and their story about love that has become one of the most memorable in Cinematography World. Even though, they did not have enough time to be together, but that time was enough to realize that true love's a many splendored thing.
Blue Jasmine (2013)
Another Masterpiece from Woody Allen and thrilling performance from Cate Blanchett!!!
"BLUE JASMINE" – FILM REVIEW Image
Written and Directed by Woody Allen
Cast: Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard, Sally Hawkins,
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Year Release: 2013
The big question of the year is " what makes an actress as the best actress will be answered by Cate Blanchett with her thrilling acting as Jasmine in the film "Blue Jasmine" written and director by Woody Allen. Who is Woody Allen we all know. This incredibly talented director/actor/writer Woddy Allen is known worldwide as the one who brought us "Annie Hall", "Manhattan", "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", "Midnight in Paris" and dozen other works of him that requires a whole book to describe his talent there.
"Blue Jasmine" is another masterpiece of Woody Allen that shows us the difference between "old school" and a "new school" in the cinematography world. Mr Allen already made his own trademarks by writing a unique script with full of wise dialogue between characters that will require not just only talk in front of camera by remembering the written line, and also to act as it would be the last job of your life.
Woody Allen as an actor himself knows what need to be done in order to deliver one of the best performances of the year. Woody Allen always tries to create perfection: and in this movie he has achieved what he wanted: he brought up another level of Allenism which calls "Blue Jasmine".
"Blue Jasmine" tells the story of the woman that went to San Francisco to visit her sister after having lost all of her money, husband, and son who does not want to see his mother any more. And after having all these troubles, she has reached her breaking point.
One of the scenes in this film that will you speechless is the one when in the end of the movie Jasmine sitting on a park bench, talking to herself alone and without any options or a chances to have a bright future.
I would not be afraid by calling this movie as a one man show, since Cate Blachett with her incomparable performance will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. She certainly has delivered something that she has never done before. In another word, she brought us another Blanche Dubois from the well known play and the movie "A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee Williams.
