Gravity (2013)
A stunning movie with twists, amazing visuals and breath taking moments
The movie will take you on a ride of your life. There are many twists, breath taking moments, amazing effects and visuals and best of all, more or less realistic physics. Gravity has finally brought back the interest in space movies since 2000, when a lot of space movies were thrown into the theatres, but most of them were quickly and badly made. Gravity is a must-see in 3D or IMAX, it is pretty much as amazing as Avatar. But do remember, it is a thriller and it might send a chill down your spine for most of the film. One of the key things is that it can fill you with some knowledge of what is "up there" and really shows how space debris can cause damage. So just go and watch the movie, you won't regret it. G. Colony and Sandra Bullock acted very well and showed the emotions of their characters very well.
Hubble 3D (2010)
Stunning IMAX 3D masterpiece
I had the lucky opportunity to see it in Paris in an IMAX sphere in 3D and just the name attracted me. I have always been a fan of space and my friends got attracted too. Even though it was in French, I just enjoyed watching the whole thing. You were instantly thrown into space right next to an astronaut reinnovating technology years old in weightlessness. The quality and aspects were perfect, even some knowledge and humor was mixed in. Apart from the mission, you can enjoy some stunning views of deep space. In IMAX, you will literally sink into your chair. This movie was so good I went to it twice and would go 3 more times if it still screened. I recommend this movie to all who have a big screen or 3D.
Armageddon (1998)
A ridiculous Hollywood blockbuster comedy
Like all apocalypse-movies from Hollywood, they need fancy effects for the joy of the viewers. While the plot is okay at first, it starts becoming so unrealistic you don't even have to understand astrophysics(like me) to understand that it is unreal. While characters surprisingly are mpossible to kill and things are impossible to smash, later the space physics make the movie look like Star Wars which it is not supposed to be since the movies is supposed to be scientific(at least a little). There are 2 types of sci Fi movies: start wars and real space. This one tries to be the latter but became the other. While Bruce Willis is at his best at usual,Ben Adflec's character might make you want him dead in the next 10 minutes. This is the first role where he made his worst debute. And now for the final rating: realism:1/10 Acting:6/10 CGI:8/10 Plot:4/10 (4+8+6+1):4=4.75~5/10
Europa Report (2013)
The next low-budget space classic
For many years we have seen expensive Hollywood movies where space exploration was showed at a Hollywood side: fancy graphics, unrealistic spaceships and unrealistic physics, the worst example was Mission to Mars. However, this movie is unique. First, it was made on a shoestring budget. Second, it makes everything mysterious by not showing us enough and makes us wonder what the ship looks like, etc. It really makes it look like you are viewing recovered footage from a mission to Europa. And third, the movie aims at showing how people behave, the psychological and scientific challenges, the will of people to sacrifice themselves for knowledge. It really makes us want to goto Europa and search for the unknown. I have been saving a 10/10 rating for exactly this kind of movie. And if you get bored for 10 minutes, please don't switch the movie off, just keep watching, you won't regret it.
Red Dog (2011)
Overrated
After seeing the movie, I questioned myself why I even watched it. It is a dull story of a stray dog which people adore for no reason. S what if the dog was searching for its owner? It was just following it's instincts, it was not from true heart. An instinct is like a looping program. Dogs are programmed to stay near their owner. It just followed its program! Whereas a dog is always happy to see its owner, you need to work to get your cat's respect. That is the difference between a cat and a dog. There is no such thing as animal loyalty. Only people are capable of that. Do not think that animals are equal to humans in emotions, because animals will always stay beasts and they must never replace a human. That is that. Since there is no 0 rating, I give 1/10+1 for beautiful landscapes which distract you from the movie.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Underrrated Masterpiece
I first saw this movie when I was about 8 years old and i instantly fell in love with it. The CGI was good, the acting was great and the plot was the key moment. It was the most touching, unexpected, mystical, fun and heart-breaking i have ever experienced. Even now when i re-watch it it makes me cry, no matter how strong i am. It is a movie for thinkers, for people who understand emotions and the modern world. Even my parents think that this movie is a masterpiece, it should be watched by kids and grown- ups every year, to remind us of all the values we must keep, and to never forget to follow our dreams. Do not underrate this movie, you will not regret seeing it. 10/10
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World (2011)
Plain cheesiness for little kids
The movie itself was pretty awful. The plot, the CGI, the humor-everything. The idea to put in a couple of hotties may have got a few million profit, but still it was pretty cheesy. By the end of the movie, I just wanted to get away from all the clocks and gears in my sight. I mean, how was there a color video of an experiment in 1930? 1/10, unsuitable for everyone.. I don't suggest you "waste your time" on this movie. I hope there won't be an even worse "Spy Kids 5" . . . Because of movies like this kids start To think that planes can fly with one wing and that AI has already Been invented. I do not recommend this to anyone
Red Planet (2000)
Disagree with RebrandSoftware, movie is great
I have to disagree with RebrandSoftware, for many reasons: They DID bring the atmosphere analyzing equipment and all. All the equipment was on the equipment stage which they had to jettison( you obviously didn't watch the film carefully), and their mechanical crazy "dog" was their navigation unit and was damaged at descent so it went haywire.. I think you sir are too much of a nincompoop for such an accurate movie. According to your review you payed no attention to the film whatsoever. I personally loved the film, it was pretty accurate with some small goofs, it had good acting and a good and realistic plot, I mean think about it, we pretty much killed the Earth by now. People in Peking can't even breath there any more. 9/10 for inaccuracies and plot holes
The Hunger Games (2012)
Great recreation of the book and a little bit of sugar
I never heard of the Hunger Games book series before I saw the movie, which made me buy the whole trilogy. What made me do that?that's what: Great actors, the screenplay was great(followed the book REALLY closely, about 95%), and the plot itself and of course, the filming was great, not too much CGI, no trembling pictures, and even some non-cheesy humor. The director did a great job, as well as the actors. The movie is very interesting, dramatic and unique. I have never seen a movie as powerful as this one. I recommend this movie to everyone, suitable for all(except for people with a really bad intellect). The movie is better than you expect :)
