Fighter (2024)

Sorry Hrithik you can't be Tom Cruise

Why does India always try to rip off Hollywood movies. This is a typical wanna be Top Gun movie but no one in Bollywood is cool enough to pull it off. Hrithik looks like a haggard wash up. His crow feet around his eyes need a major cover up.

Deepika and Hrithik have zero chemistry.

The movie is a typical anti Pakistan, Jai Hind movie. Same contrived plot we see in every single Bollywood military movie.

Songs and dance are very boring.

I really wish India would come up with better movies and plots and break away from the same stereotypical storylines. Maybe they need better screenwriters and directors and new fresh actors.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)

Snooze fest

Well firstly not a typical Nolan film. More of a biopic drama documentary that definitely does not need to be seen on Imax. It also does not need to be 3 hours long, wow it really drags.

I get the subject matter is profound but the direction and delivery of this movie was so convoluted and dry that I feel they had to throw in the porn scenes just for some added excitement. Anyone who says they needed those scenes to make it realistic should also believe they needed to see Oppenheimer defecating too as that is also something people do.

What also was confusing was how irrelevant Einstein's role in this movie was that he almost didn't need to be there?

Also the whole movie they are talking about the hydrogen bomb and the potential of it causing a chain reaction but ultimately made an atomic bomb?

The fact there are way too many characters in this movie make it even more hard to follow and the whole Strauss fiasco at the end was very predictable.

I would say save your money and watch this on your TV. Definitely not IMAX or 70mm worthy.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)

Tom Cruise is explosive!

Wow where to start. First of all hats of to Tom Cruise, this man does it all. Acting, comedy, jumping off mountains...just incredible.

This movie is the best mission impossible ever! And the best movie this year. Adrenaline rush, thematic content and super sonic adrenaline pumping action. From the car chases, fight scenes to Tom riding a bike off a mountain in REAL (what he's 60??? Holy smokes), the movie just gets better and better that you don't want it to end.

The chemistry between Hailey Atwell and Tom Cruise is palpable, cheeky and so fun. She did a wonderful job! She could be a pick pocketed in real.

The movie is long yet you don't want it to end. We all clapped at the end because why not appreciate a masterpiece and share your joy with fellow viewers.

This is one of the movies you MUST see on the big screen. Enjoy!

Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls (2022)

So fake and annoying

Starting off with a clearly trained bear chasing Ranveer and later him encountering a bear that just sniffs them and walks away to Ranveer Singh's annoying hyper active personality (how does Deepika put up with him)?, this show is clearly staged and fake.

A little boring and I couldn't get through the whole show because Ranveer was way over the top and super annoying. He is so immature for his age and over the top. Bear probably was fed up too and wanted to leave him in the jungle.

I think I'll watch the Hollywood celebrity addition. It was way more interesting, especially with Bradlee Cooper and him having to do number 2 lol soooo funny.

Mission Majnu (2023)

A typical Indian nationalist film

How many times will India make these Jai Hind, Pakistan murdabad films.

This is a typical Indian nationalist and Hindu centric movie where the RAW agents are super heroes and the other side is a bunch of clueless simpletons. It's funny how the whole movie is about Pakistan going Nuclear and how wrong they are while India was already nuclear and doing Nuclear testing. I think it's really about a Muslim country going nuclear and how Hindustan and Israel are not able to handle that so they must make them look like the bad guy.

Insert Siddharth Malhotra who always looks like a deer in the headlights, mind you a handsome one but his acting chops are so limited that you have to just accept him as eye candy. Vicky Kaushal or even Saif Ali Khan would have done a better job.

The ending of this movie was reasonable as they created enough pathos to digest this absurd one sided film but the whole end credits with the portrayal of Pakistan as the villain and India the angel "mulk", made me realize how backwards and artificial the world really is.

Pass on this unless you are a Hindu nationalist.

Plane (2023)

What movies use to be

If you go to the movies for escapism then this movie does the trick. Edge of the seat thrills from start to finish. Action packed and so much fun and suspense. I think it's worth seeing on the big screen for the fight scenes and back drop.

Gerrard Buttler did a great job playing the fearless captain.

The scenes on this island really felt realistic and each passengers character was well portrayed from the pricks to the heros.

Get a big tub of popcorn and sit back, relax and enjoy the show. But don't forget to put your seat belts on as you will be in for a very bumpy ride.

Definitely a must watch.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Unnecessarily long and dragged out

Where do I start with this movie. I liked the 1st one but I didn't love it and I have the same sentiments about this one I don't know why I just can't connect with this movie? Btw isn't the premise of Black Panther very similar to Avatar. Primitive tribal folk who have precious metals (vibranium in BP and Unobtanium in Avatar) and America wants it?

First of all the Chadwick tributes were sweet but ultimately took away from the actual movie and became almost a memorial to him? The last credit scene was a very contrived memorial and possible hint to a new black panther movie in the making with his legacy?

I felt Tenoch Huerta did an amazing job and the under water world they created was marvelous. But the movie jumped to too many places: Wakanda, Talokan, US, Haiti - I was lost in all the travel.

I really did love Shuris character and how she stepped up and how brilliant she is but I didn't really understand her connection with the scientist and what they were hinting there?

I was a little confused about Lupitas character and how they claimed she left Wakanda for 6 years? Did that much time pass from Chadwicks character's death in Black Panther? That and the last scene was confusing and a bit cheesy that I thought I was watching a home video.

Ultimately I think the movie was good but could have been truncated and could have been more congruent and consistent.

Barbarian (2022)

Very similar to the movie Creep

I went in not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly scared! The whole time you think Tess is crazy going into a house with a stranger and the red herrings really make you fear Keith. That and he does kind of resemble pennywise from IT.

The story then follows a very sick and depraved storyline with monsters living in underground tunnels. Remind me never to get an Airbnb. I just saw "Welcome home" as well.

The plot of this movie is similar to the British film Creep that talks about mutated feral creatures lurking in the underground tunnels of the London Tube. The direction of going from climax to a different character and past scenes is fun and leaves you hanging to the point where 30 mins into the movie I said, "what is the movie over!".

I think the monster or barbarian was super creepy but something we have seen in so many movies like IT, smile and maybe even creep but I like the slight empathy that was created for the freakish monster at the end. It truly was a product of its own design and helpless like a feral animal.

This movie is a thumbs up. But I still would have liked to know where the underground tunnels came from and also why would anyone buy a house in that God forsaken area. Did they not consult a Realtor? (Yes I'm a realtor).

Happy scares.

Halloween Ends (2022)

Wow the most long winded and bizarre sequel of this Halloween franchise. I don't understand what they were trying to achieve in this movie but it made no sense and didn't do the franchise any justice. The last few minutes of the movie were the only interesting parts. Everything else was senseless and silly.

Most of the series is pretty cheesy and senseless but the last instance should have been epic and memorable but it felt flat.

It's funny how everything happens then the police come at the end in every horror movie. So played out.

So is he really dead? Hope so because I think this last episode ruined the whole franchise.

Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 - Agni Pariksha (2022)

Wow

What a movie. Best action film this year. Finally a movie worth watching. So entertaining, edge of seat suspense, amazing action and it will make your emotions haywire. It's a really disturbing but realistic theme. I didn't know what this movie will be about as I like to keep the suspense but what happened was unexpected and beyond shocking:( it really highlights the low levels mankind can fall too. Sometimes we can be worse than animals.

The direction of this film is so spot on and consistent. Some movies don't flow well and are very choppy. But this had a very natural and realistic flow. I also loved the 1st movie and this is even better.

Vidyut is a phenomenal actor who is better than most of the old A listers in the industry. He deserves more roles and more movies. I hope Bollywood after all their flops can make high caliber films like this.

Worse horror/scary movie if you can even call it that. Definitely not a thriller. Why the hype. Bad acting, weak convoluted plot, no thrills. I don't get why the maker of get out and US would make such a foolish film.

It started off interesting but now is just senseless trash. The constant swearing to act cool..the silly acting..the fact the murderer always slips away is making this drama fall flat on it's face. It should be a hindi TV serial..those over the top soap opera type shows ..not web series that usually has a better budget and absorbing content.

No wonder it has a 4 out of 10.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022)

Absolutely hilarious and entertaining

Finally a movie the whole family can watch which is wholesome, realistic, hilarious and entertaining. I didn't want it to end. Great acting on all fronts. Most movies this year were terrible, so this was truly refreshing.

Being Pakistani and growing up on hindi movies and Pakistani dramas makes me nostalgic watching this show. I find it so enjoyable for the whole family. Fun, witty, very south Asian. Everyone from grandpa to my 7 year old daughter are enjoying the show.

I can't wait for more episodes!

Hard to follow. Some action then a lot of dry talking. Chris seems run down and his acting is a bit flat. I was expecting a little more thriller and action from this show.

Very entertaining and actually scary. Kartik did a great job.

Spoiler: why would anjulika strangle her husband in the scene where anjulika and manjulika are fighting. Wouldn't she just say I'm actually anjulika?

Turning Red (2022)

Typical western defiant teenager plot

What is it with the west always wanting to strip all eastern children of good values, decency and achievements and adorn them with western mediocrity and under achievement?

This movie highlights the struggles (I would say achievements) of an Asian child with an over bearing, high expectations mother who wants her child to exceed in all aspects. What's wrong with that?

In the west of your child isn't going to parties, drinking and having sex by 13, something is wrong with them. And this is what Pixar is now trying to promote to children. If you don't conform to western ideologies, you just don't fit in.

It's unfortunate more and more of our cartoons and animations are brainwashing our children to become Kardashians rather than Theresas.

Uncharted (2022)

Awesome movie

Funny, energetic, entertaining.

It kept my 6 year old in the seat for the whole movie. The dynamic between walhlberg and Holland was spicy.

Definitely a worth it movie for escapism and pirate dreams.

And of course the worst movie of the year is nominated for best movie of the year. Sure 2021 was slim pickens but what the heck was this movie about. They eluded to so many transgressions but nothing ever came into fruition and the viewer is left wondering what the heck is this movie about?

I wish I could get my 1.5 hour + of my life back.

Great for teenagers otherwise the movie is boring and the acting is horrendous. Abaya deol can't act to save his life. Dry and dull in every movie. Sunny Doels kid can't make it in the industry and isn't hero material.

A definite freak show

Vulgar, depraved, uninteresting, so definitely representative of this society and hence why most people love it.

I can't get into it and the characters are just playing verbal pickle ball. Very blasé.

But I'd you're Vulgar, depraved, and uninteresting, you will like this show.

Sooryavanshi (2021)

Hindus will love it

A pro Hindu movie made my Hindus to as usual make Muslims look like creepy weapon wielding terrorists.

Akshay Kumar looks like an old prune in a tried and tested clichéd hero (Hindu police man) vs villain (Muslims) movie with no unique plot or climax.

Definitely a pass. Unless you're an Indian nationalist anti muslim Hindu. Then you will love the movie.

Dhamaka (2021)

Bad acting and terrible ending.

What a bakwas ending. The movie could have been so much more interesting but they direction was terrible. Half the movie made no sense and Karthik's acting was so dry and unbelievable. He can't emote to save his life.

The ending really was terrible and unnecessary. I would pass on this film.

Sardar Udham (2021)

Boring

I am surprised about the great reviews. The movie is disconnected and extremely slow. Bhagat singh was a way better biopic than this.

There is no character development and very little intrigue. I would pass on it.
