Pretty Weird, Kinda Tedious
10 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
While I understand the approach was meant to be strange and almost surreal, nothing was quite interesting enough to hold my complete attention. I think the idea would work with a few tweaks. The first part of the film has our two main characters walking around the mall and focussing their attention on a perfume store. The cannibal was very obviously following them and was acknowledged. It would've been scarier if only we (the audience) could see him in the background watching and stalking as the women continued their musical review of the mall. Instead it opens with shots of the cannibal and constantly shows all the characters together. The fact that he's constantly like only ten feet behind them makes him come off as friend-zoned and dimwitted. It was a bit disappointing considering his distorted mask has potential to make this scary. The later half of this film was a bit more what I was after. The shots of a woman sleeping along with a parallel to a rotting corpse was pretty creepy because it felt like it was foreshadowing. The cannibal's role was a bit more threatening later but I still wouldn't call him scary. When he talked, he sounded impaired. I guess the two main characters killing and eating him was unexpected but not shocking. They were weird too. Oddly enough, this takes away any element of horror I'd associated with the cannibal because now the main characters are just as bad. Maybe this was a bit too artsy for my taste, but I think it really had potential to be something scary if the directing was a bit better.

"Do your thing coz"
15 January 2021
^ Probably the most cringe line used in the entire franchise. This movie uses the most basic horror formula to come up with something unworthy of the already deteriorating series. The characters are just awful. Heather (our lead scream queen) went through the dumbest character arch I've ever seen. She gets taken from the Sawyer cannibal family and given to a stereotypical redneck family yet somehow she turns out like some college kid from the north. She has no accent, dresses like one of the edgy Tim Burton chicks we all saw at high school, and gets upset over literally everything. Her character arch is hating her fake redneck family, hating her psychotic cannibal family, and then loving her psychotic cannibal family for basically no reason.

All of the lead characters come straight from the 80's slasher films. Meaning we have our lead protagonist Heather (sensible yet dresses scantily and suspicious of everyone while unprovoked), Ryan (her typical jock looking boyfriend who cheats on her), Nikki (her friend that cheats with Ryan and can somehow make her cashier work uniform seem clad), and Kenny (Nikki's very northern seeming boyfriend who basically does nothing) Yes this is exactly the same cast as every slasher film from the 80s.

And this is basically every character. This movie demonizes the crap out of southern people. Basically anyone with a southern accent is a villain and anyone who sounds northern is good. It's hilarious because everyone comes from the same exact area. The group of rednecks at the beginning reminds me of the townspeople in Halloween. They would basically just go wherever the murderer was presumed to be and then shoot up the place/burn it down without provocation. It just basically makes this unwatchable to anyone in a southern state because of its offensive portrayal. I come from the north and I've been here my entire life but I still don't agree with this stereotype.

Uninteresting but Not Unwatchable
12 January 2021
Like the majority of this audience, I'm a huge Bob's Burgers fan. I was definitely skeptical about this show because spin offs are usually absolute garbage but I still had to give this a try. The show has potential but overall it couldn't even put a smile on my face. Even the most unfunny comedies are usually able to give me at least one chuckle or smile. This did not. To be completely honest, I did not feel that many attempts for laughs were made. This first episode felt more like character establishment.

This is my impression. Moon is basically just Louise. The appeal is that he is the youngest yet the most daring and likely to cause trouble through his bold and risky ventures. Judy is like a more strong minded Tina. She's the voice of reason, boy crazy, has an imaginary friend, and seems to be a caring individual. Ham is kind of like Gene. He seems a bit simple and basic. I wouldn't be surprised if he was more of a sidekick character to Moon or Judy. I have no impression of Honeybee or Wolf. They seem like they could either be obnoxious and troublesome or they could be helpful in some sense. Not that sure yet but I also don't find them intriguing.

I give the show a lot of credit for Beef's writing. The subject of divorce is often ugly and it's relatable to many people. Beef's feeling of not wanting to come to terms with the reality of people leaving him is a hugely underrated pain that affects almost everyone in some form. For the writers to tackle that subject in a strong father figure character is definitely commendable. However, this does not make the show funny.

I gave this four stars based on the first episode alone because it's currently all I have access to. I'm not really sure how other reviewers were able to get access to more episodes than that but some did. Personally I believe this show has potential. I liked the setting, the animation, and the characters were decent (not likable, just decent). I will watch another episode when it airs but if it leaves me feeling unamused (like this episode) then I won't continue.

DON'T WATCH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE PREVIOUS MOVIES
10 September 2020
I haven't seen the previous films. I just enjoy Keanu Reeves. I understand that our two title characters are supposed to be extremely unintelligent but the acting was atrocious. Normally I'd be more forgiving but Step Brothers, Tenacious D, and Dumb and Dumber were also about two morons and yet the acting was hilarious. I mean maybe I'd have thought it was better if I'd seen the original but I just think it wasn't good. The storyline was basic and felt made up as they went along. I think the originals had more charm judging by the trailers and few clips I've seen. Maybe you'd enjoy it if you were a fan of the first two but definitely don't watch if you haven't. Also don't watch it for the music. There was only one original song at the end that neither Bill nor Ted had anything to do with.

Far From Perfect but Not Nearly as Bad as You've Heard
13 July 2020
I truly believe that if no one had ever heard of the Fantastic Four, this would've been a success. Like are you telling me you didn't think the first half of this movie was intriguing at all? Because I think everyone was really enjoying this movie until they botched the last half of it. Majority of the hate is from people trying to trend and over exaggerating. If I had to compare this to anything, I think it closely resembles the structure of Batman V Superman. It's full of well directed and scripted scenes in the first acts but leaves something to be desired as it progresses. This is the result of trying to build a group of characters from the ground up, and then forcing in a conflict capable of being in an entirely separate movie. For Batman V Superman, it was Doomsday. For Fantastic Four, it was Dr. Doom. I really don't think it was enough to ruin the movie. It just keeps it from being perfect. Audiences are so quick to jump to trends. Like in B. V. S., everyone was hating on that movie for the first few weeks of its release, then all of the sudden, the merchandise sells out like crazy and everyone boards the trend of Ben Affleck's Batman being the greatest. It's the same thing with Fantastic Four. It was given hate during its initial release except it never got bigger given it's relevancy to the MCU died instantaneously being as it was Sony rather than Disney where as Batman V Superman was a starter for the Justice League universe. Also the Fantastic Four isn't nearly as popular as Batman or Superman despite being extremely well known.

Without a doubt, this certainly had a darker tone than the previous Fantastic Four films and even the comics. Personally I liked the changes they made. The Thing and The Human Torch working as government assassins made them more interesting in my opinion. Same with Susan and Johnny being able to do hands on work with Reed Richards. It adds more to their personalities and gives them more to do then just following Mr. Fantastic and adding comic relief when need be. It just works better with a more modern audience.

I think you should give this a shot if you found this movie even moderately intriguing. It's not a complete train reck like the critics are making it out to be. Also the MCU definitely stole Thing's design for Korg in Thor. Both Korg and Thing are designed differently in the comics but the MCU straight up took the Sony Thing's design. I don't know why no one mentions this.

Leatherface (2017)
1/10
High quality footage, great actors, decent scenery, HORRIBLE WRITING
9 April 2020
The realisticness of the Texas Chainsaw franchise has always been over the top nonsensical. 1-4 are dated and stylized in campy way. The sequels with Andrew Bryniarski are brutal and beyond gory yet still carry the spirit of the plot. This was just poorly written and couldn't be more unrealistic. First of all, it could've been mostly fixed with one small change. Bud is the only sicko in the cast that possibly matches the Leatherface persona. He's dumb, full of brute strength, and large for his age. Instead he turned out to be Jackson who's basically a friendly, charming, and sensitive teenage heart throb. It was so dumb. Moronic fans will try to counter this argument with the fact that some real life serial killers are good looking and charming (such as Ted Bundy). Ok Leatherface is not a sociopath. He cannot function as anything other than a mentally impaired homicidal maniac. It's very apparent in the franchise, especially because he can barely speak a language and only grunts like a pig. It was also seemingly hereditary given that both his father and brother acted with some form of mental illness (more than likely schizophrenia). More on this note, why is the entire caste of Leatherface (aside from Bud) played by extremely good looking people? The guys all have six packs and good bone structure and the girls are all tall and gorgeous. They're from a mental institution. I have seen people in mental institutions. Trust me. They look like they belong in there. Not only that, but everyone had a unique sense of charisma to them. They geared up Ike and Clarice to be like Boney and Clyde and played upbeat music while they were robbing a place. I mean come on. This isn't Leatherface. Idk what this is. Alright final critique. Jackson's family was probably the most unrealistic thing in this entire movie. A family of homicidal maniacs isn't going to be a "Leave it to Beaver" type household when they aren't killing someone. It's going to be people with backwards morals and disturbing behavior even aside form killing. These people acted like it was initially just a regular loving household. Then when they were killing someone, they acted like it was their form of justice for theft. People with extreme senses of capital punishment DO NOT use of aberrant methods such as what this family did. Like why would you have your young child son murder someone with a chainsaw as a birthday present. That's not even scary. It's just really stupid. Also just wanted to point out that after a murder like the one that happened to the sheriff's daughter, the police would've swarmed that area and everyone would've been arrested. No possible way they would've let that go because of lack of evidence. A brutally murdered corpse was there with the entire household present. That's all the evidence you need to make the arrest. Here's a good way to rewrite this. Start with the murder of the sheriff's daughter to start his personal motive. He wants justice but because the perpetrators are so young, they are put in institutions rather than a prison. So he stalks them. They grow up (use James Bloor as Nubbins and Same Coleman as Leatherface). Eventually they (and several other violent teens from Sawyer ranch) escape and the sheriff uses everything he can to finally bring his daughter justice. He manages to kill everyone except Bubba, Nubbins and the father. This gives him enough reason to feel like he served his purpose and leave the same characters for the eventual Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Basic plot but it makes way more sense than this train wreck.

Eh...
29 November 2019
It was just too far fetched and full of plot holes. Sometimes less explanation is better. I think it would've been much scarier if we never saw where the doppelgängers came from. I was picturing a barren underground wasteland similar to The Upside-Down from Stranger Things. The tunnels actually looked pretty decent. Everything was clean and organized, the people wore regular clothing, and they all had decent beds. There are people living on Earth now that don't have that. Also it seemed like they really only gave the main characters a scary set of doppelgängers. Everyone else just looked dirty. Also that dance thing at the end was stupid. I cringed so hard when Red moonwalked out the door. I mean come on. That was dumb. Good concept but poor execution.

Watchmen (2009)
8/10
Excellent Adaption
26 July 2019
If you're a fan of the graphic novel, there's a good chance you'll like this movie a lot. Despite a few changes it's a pretty faithful adaption.

WHY IT RECEIVED CRITICISM This movie fell flat with audiences because it's incredibly dark, even for a super hero movie. The characters aren't likable in your typical sense. Heroes like Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan are heavily loved by fans but neither of them make the story any less bleak. Also no one is necessarily heroic which makes it hard to root for anyone. In a sense this is what makes Watchmen so thought provoking and unique. It makes you question what was morally correct and who was the real hero in the end. To many, this kind of content will come off as depressing or disturbing. I wouldn't recommend it to viewers who are expecting an MCU type film. If you are a fan of darker comics like what DC is famous for, then this is probably the type of story for you.

One other critique I have is that some of the dialogue doesn't translate well from book to screen. Snyder added his own iconic dialogue that resonated very nicely with audiences but other parts of the script come off as a bit corny. While I appreciate the film staying faithful to the writing, I think it limits the ability of character development when you can only work with one storyline.

Personally I love this movie. I'm a huge fan of both DC and Marvel so I don't think all marvel fans will dislike this movie. It's just extremely different. Overall I'd say its ability to create a realistic superhero scenario is something that should be praised.

Yeah I didn't like it
20 June 2019
When you set up an episode to advertise a mortal combat style virtual reality game, you get pretty hyped. It's possibly the most violent overkill game out there on the most realistic console available. I was expected some awesome barbarian type fight scenes that maybe got too realistic. This was not that and it was very weird. Not well written, just weird... as in gross... and it was wrong.

Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)

Extremely Underwhelming
20 May 2019
My prediction was that Bran would control Drogon so that Jon could actually have a fair shot at defeating Daenerys and taking the throne. This is the first time my prediction sounded better than what we got.

SPOILERS

Instead Jon killed her and for some reason this got no spite from the dragon. All I can think is that maybe it sensed he was part of the same bloodline but that was still his mother. I'd think Drogon would've killed him. And why burn the chair?

Bran becoming the King is ridiculous. What was his purpose exactly? He accomplished nothing throughout this entire series and he was built up to have the biggest role in it. He became king by process of elimination. The council basically said "Well Bran, I guess it's you since Daenerys is dead and Jon is a prisoner (even though they could've just eventually killed Greyworm and gotten Jon out)"

Jon going back to the Night's Watch is extremely dumb. Like honestly worse than Bran becoming King. What is he watching for now. The enemies are dead. The watch walks out beyond the wall for what? Dramatic affect?

Overall this was extremely underwhelming and like the rest of the season, it felt very forced.

HEAR ME OUT
14 May 2019
Now obviously this show's writing has seriously declined ever since the season started. Too many miscellaneous drama scenes we don't care about and every strategy used is riddled with obvious holes. Arya has been given insane plot armor and should not have been the one to kill The Night King. It's noticeably bad and it's coloring everyone's take on the show.

This episode was NOT a disappointment. Hear me out. Game of Thrones is the show that never shied away from showing us the ugly reality of people. Each person's morality can completely change and be shaped. Character's like Jamie and the Hound go from evil to just. Sansa and Sam go from weak to some of the strongest characters in the show. We all rooted for Cersei against the High Sparrow.

Daenerys had a winning streak this entire series. She had a path more difficult than any other character which was building herself up from absolutely nothing. She had to deal with loss her entire journey but this was exceptionally devastating. Two dragons (her children) are dead. Her army was greatly reduced by the White Walkers. Now, even with this entire journey and struggle, the people favor Jon Snow. Not her. Her allies who she trusted most are either dead or have plotted against her. It has been obvious since the beginning of the show that Daenerys is power hungry. She wants to create a peaceful world through her rule which was slipping.

Her burning the city shows immense power and shows everyone who the real ruler is. Yes it went against everything she ever stood for but her whole journey has been about sitting on that throne. This massacre was driven by her anger and desperate attempt to regain her powerful position as the Queen.

Ok everyone lets not forget George RR Martin helped write this ending. The producers did not just pull this out of nowhere.

Also anyone saying "I'm done with this show" is a total moron. We've got one episode left. You dedicated this much time only to skip out now? There is NO chance anyone who came this far would just skip the last episode.

The idea just wasn't creative. It's another story about being an outcast because the rest of your species is perceived as the enemy. I mean c'mon. We all played Halo 2. It has been done to death and this brought nothing new to the table.

Also werewolves are freaking boring. Like vampires, we've seen it done a million times and they all look exactly the same.

The animation was good but its not worth putting that much work into a lame story.

Don't miss this episode. The twist is absolutely terrifying and it's an incredible idea. Also feel I should mention the hardcore sex scene towards the beginning. That also stuck out in my mind. I'm no prude when it comes to this kind of content but maybe tone it down next time. That scene was a bit overboard. Made it very awkward to watch with family members.

REGRETTABLE BRAINSTORM IDEA
5 April 2019
Yeah the reason this episode isn't rated that highly is because it's incredibly random. Guy finds a miniature mammoth in his ice cube then watches the full story of mankind being played out in his freezer. That's literally it.

I think everyone's attention was held enough to find out what the conclusion of society would be but other than that it seems like it could've used more explanation. At least explain why the characters were just totally chill with their freezer becoming a living time capsule.

Ever watch a Gorillaz music video? Both the animation and the sci-fi theme of this episode heavily reminded me of something they'd do.

This wasn't created for the annoyingly pretentious audience member. STOP saying "what's the message?" Why does this have to have a message? You're watching a sci-fi show about robots and monsters. Enjoy the action packed ride. The characters were likable and it concluded well.

Well the visuals were neat and I was actually intrigued until the son took off all his clothes for some reason. I mean what was that?! I get that you typically dress down before jumping in the ocean but this wasn't an ocean. It was the sky and he was with his dad. That's just weird man.

Oh and also the ending didn't conclude anything. What was even the moral? Don't swim in a mystical ocean? Was that it? I mean... I don't need a moral but this was totally setting everyone up for a concluding life lesson. I guess... don't swim in sky water.

3 stars for the shark who was my favorite character

NOT FOR EVERYONE
30 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This one is a bit tough to watch and is undoubtably very disturbing hence the title, NOT FOR EVERYONE.

Personally I love characters undergo a physical metamorphosis to become something unstoppable. This is especially interesting when the character has suffered so much and that suffering leads to their transformation. This is why characters like Wolverine from X-Men or Griffith from Berserk are incredibly popular. It just makes for a stronger character.

Having said that, this episode is about the moments leading up to the creation of an epic vigilante. While it is incredibly depraved, it's worth a watch if you are up for it. I seriously wish this could've been a full length movie or series. It'd be neat to watch.

Remarkably Terrible
30 March 2019
This episode was total garbage. I'm putting the main blame on the animation and character design. It was disgusting. I'm open to different styles but this looked like Minions had a gross baby with Wallace and Gromit. The plot line was also really stupid. It's one of those ideas that someone jokingly makes to ease the tension of the room but obviously isn't serious. I love ridiculous horror movies like The Stuff or Killer Klowns from Outer Space but this had none of that campy appeal. This was undoubtably the worst episode.

STICK TO ONE STORY
13 March 2019
Ok it's no mystery to anyone that the writing for Family Guy has become incredibly weak in later seasons. This is basically just another example. This show has a bad habit of introducing new characters that are just suddenly supposed to be essential to the main characters because they never knew this person existed before the episode. They did this with Brian's son, Lois's brother, Peter's REAL father, Peter's sister, Peter's many children, Quagmire's infant daughter, and now his new character. It's too many times.

When an episode can't focus on one storyline, it's complete garbage. That's basically what happened here. The plot started by focusing on the guys honing in on party bus events. Then it transitioned from that to Quagmire trying to be a father to his daughter that he tried to sleep with (or already slept with. It wasn't really clear). They had his daughter performing at a gymnastics event which I thought was going to be the focus of the episode but no. It randomly ended by Quagmire and Peter taking their daughters to a camping event.

NOT WORTH YOUR TIME
9 March 2019
The plot is incredibly derivative of every sci-fi and hero flic before it which makes the movie extremely predictable and uninteresting. You could argue that every hero film is basically a carbon copy of a former hero film but this brings absolutely nothing new to the table.

This has to be said

The MCU is pretty famous for bringing female characters to their films that are just automatically stuck up and tougher than every other male character. You can have tough female role models who aren't completely alpha to every guy around them but no one in Hollywood does that.

Look at Thor. He taller, stronger, and better looking than almost every other avenger on the team. Iron Man is arrogant, smarter than basically everyone, and has arguably the most advanced super suit. The movies DO NOT make these two the most alpha characters in the room and always make jokes at their expense because they wouldn't be likable otherwise. Same works for women. You can have strong female leads but stop making them dominate every male character in the scene. Obviously they are strong but you don't see Black Panther enforcing his superiority all over everyone that surrounds him despite him being an actual king.

Having said that, this movie wasn't just terrible because of the plot. None of the characters were likable. Nick Fury is great but he makes almost zero impact in this entire movie. It was basically like the producers were just trying to find a way to write him in so we could connect this to Infinity War.
