Jurassic World (2015)
Good popcorn movie
Just saw Jurassic World yesterday. Although some of the dialogues sound cheesy and several scenes don't make too much sense to me, but overall in terms of popcorn flick, I do agree that the movie is truly awesome packed with lots of action and cool CGI effects and visuals. Although I still think that Jurassic Park #1 is the best of the series, yet I'm ecstatic that they're (finally) showing an oceanic creature mosasaur here as opposed to the overused t-rex and raptors in the previous installments. No surprise that it made the #1 BO this weekend. But kinda surprised a bit that it beat the previous Jurassic Park movies' records - combined. I didn't think the movie would make that much. But I guess kudos to Universal. I'm sure they're happy with the numbers.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Marvel movies
SpiderMan. The X-Men. Iron Man. Thor. The Hulk. Captain America. The Avengers. Is anybody else even trying to make action/adventure movies anymore? The house that Stan built shows no sign of slowing its roll and, with this film, extends its reach deep into the hallowed ground of space operas, yes (don't say it), even Star Wars territory. Star Wars ... for a new generation. And in every film, every offering, not only is a beachhead made, the start of another franchise, but as well the preparations for the next step can be seen. Further, the strategy of including little closings rewards for those who survive the Biblical length credits sequence is paying off: fully half the theater stayed at the showing I attended waiting for it.
The Revenant (2009)
Funny movie
If you watch this movie for the first time its quite funny. Its pretty much like Dead Heads, two stupid zombie friends doing stupid zombie things while trying to cover up they're actually zombies and not just regular stupid people. Not as funny as Shaun of the Dead, which is quite awesome, but still very watch-able and entertaining. Some scenes just feel like fillers to reach a 90 minute movie, though. And some of the jokes are really lame. So I'd say its a nice movie to watch with a friend once and then just forget about it, I wouldn't buy the DVD or anything. Just stream it on Amazon or something. Still I'm happy the zombie genre produces some more medium quality movies and not just low budget b-trash-leavemealone-movie kind of stuff.
After Earth (2013)
The worst Will Smith movie ... yes even worse than Wild Wild West
I wanted to give the film a chance, despite the poor reporting. Unfortunately, I have to say that the reviews were correct.
The "cold"Cypher (Will Smith) has been acting really unconvincing and the change of character of Kitai (Jaden Smith) really made me very reminiscent of films from the late nineties.
However, everyone should form their own opinions about the movie. Review because of the storyline (not bad) and the acting performance (poor)and not about whether the film has something to do with Sciencetology or not.
It's so bad, it literally hurts my brain. No kidding.
Thanks for reading.
The Collection (2012)
Guter Film aber etwas offensichtliches Ende
When collecting, it's important not to store your matchbooks next to your antique gas can and golden age comic book collections.
Luckily, the accumulator in this horror movie only likes to amass organic items.
Former captive - and only person to escape the homicidal Collector (Randall Archer) - Arkin (Josh Stewart) is hired by the father (Christopher McDonald) of the madman's most recent kidnap victim (Erin Way) to show his squad of hired killers (Lee Tergesen, Shannon Kane, Andre Royo) where his daughter is being kept.
But when Arkin is tricked into re-entering the labyrinthine interior of The Collector's abandoned booby-trapped hotel, he finds himself facing off with the masked torturer once again.
Revealing more about the sadistic stockpiler and his nightmarish mélange of human prey, The Collection expands on the lore and also maintains the gore
