FUBAR (2023– )

Really enjoyed this!

This felt like a breath of fresh air that I could sit and watch for hours & lose track of time. I usually read a few reviews before watching most films or shows and already noticed the reviews on Fubar were pretty decent. I'm also a huge Arnie fan so was already looking forward to getting stuck into this. Love the light hearted humour too. Really enjoyed the character's along with the main man Arnie himself leading. Already looking forward to Season 2. Let's hope for more action again & the return of the cast. Netflix are really pulling some decent presents out the bag again along with Fubar, Extraction 2 etc. Keep it up.

Ambulance (2022)

Errrm, scratching my head

Well, I'm so relieved I didn't watch this at the cinema. Ok, so plenty of action as you'd expect from Michael Bay, but please... the total unreal scenes in this made me laugh.

My partner & I both work on the front line in both roles in this film. We were both sat throughout totally laughing at pretty much every scene that was hugely unrealistic. I certainly wouldn't recommend unless you want to laugh at an action flick! I have seen some pretty unreal films in my time, but this was definitely on the top shelf.

A few characters were almost dead at one point to then completely come back to life after having a huge open operation in the back of an ambulance whilst being thrown about in the back?? Oh did I mention that she was performing this surgery whilst on face time to 2 other supposed surgeons? Haha. My oh my.

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

An absolute must watch!!!

This has to be my favourite film of all time for such a long time. I don't think I've ever been to the cinema & had a tear in my eye on a few occasions.

This film is absolutely fantastic on all levels. Tom Cruise has definitely put 200% in to making this sequel & it damn shows it. My first words after getting out of my seat at the cinema at the end credits were "wow, now that was a very god film"!

11/10 for this one!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

Excellent follow on

I was a little sceptical about this one, however I was highly impressed with the story, it has several nods to the first original. Great to see how they incorporated Harold Ramis back in to this too. Definitely recommend watching this if you liked the original 1 & 2. P. S - keep watching till the very end. Good cameo with Sigourney Weaver too.

No Time to Die (2021)

One of the best Bonds!

Absolutely fantastic, full on action all the way through, this film was certainly worth the wait. The film is 2hrs & 43 mins long, but you don't realise this as there's never a dull moment.

Top class Bond at his best.!

Cobra Kai (2018–2025)

WOW! Just like going down memory lane

I absolutely loved the original 3 films when I was a kid, also to this day. I have only just got round to watching Cobra Kai & I'm addicted. These follow the original so closely & brings memories back. I never thought I'd be this hooked. I really hope t hat they continue to make endless series, or at least as many as possible. There's so much feeling within these that again replicates from the original bonding that Miyagi had with Daniel. The music is also spot on, from the pan pipe/flute music to setting the scene at Tommy's death. On a final note, if you loved the originals then you are going to absolutely love these. I hope they continue, it's good to also see that they have brought back all the original cast too. Very good move, this works so well. RIP PAT MORITA 10/10 stars.

Hinterland (2013–2016)

Wow, absolutely fantastic.

I was completely blown away by this, I really can't believe that I didn't watch it sooner. Stunning performance from Richard Harrington, what an actor who played this part brilliantly. It doesn't look like there will be a series 4, which I am absolutely gutted to hear this. I do think that with such amazing reviews this could still be a positive comeback. Maybe continue the other murder mysteries but let's find more out about the DCI, let's also see him & his DI relationship develop maybe deeper. After all. Both have been unlucky in relationships. Final note?? A huge well done with this, let's see another series 4!

The Old Guard (2020)

Good, different & entertaining

This is something different from the usual. I really hope that we have a sequel on the horizon here. There's a few negative reviews that I have read & cant seem to understand why? Not everyone likes the same story, so admittedly you'll never please everyone. Take it for what it is & just enjoy it. I'll definitely be watching this one again soon & would recommend to anyone to watch it. Full of action with a bit of history.

Project Power (2020)

Watchable average film

Not as bad as some reviews state. It's something different to watch if you have run out of the usual drab that's on. Some good lead characters in here, I do admit there could have been a little more build up story to let us know the beginning or how things started so we could develop each character a little, but given the circumstances I believe due to current Covid restrictions has placed at the cinemas recently, there isn't much to watch. So this is definitely worth watching with a few beverages!

12 Strong (2018)

Watched only half of it on Netflix before turning off. I got bored of a lot of unrealistic scenarios. Was brilliant to see the American special forces shooting enemies at one point without even looking through the rifle scopes. Good old John Wayne style. Unless you've been there & experienced it then you wouldn't know. I was shaking my head at a few scenes in this film that finalised it for me. I'd certainly give this one a miss.

Do not compare to the original

Why are most of the comments comparing to the original? Please read, this is a PREQUEL not a copy or a sequel. This story leads up to & blends in pretty well with the 1982 The Thing. So guys, even if it's not as gory etc etc, maybe that was the intention? Maybe it was meant to lead you up to the events where the 1982 version can then tell it's own follow on version. I enjoyed it anyway.

Angel Has Fallen (2019)

A decent full action film

I quite enjoyed this movie, I wouldn't say it's a full on 10/10 film, but it has a decent full action layout. Good acting from Butler, Freeman & also a good input from Nolte. All in all, a good film.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Excellent follow on from T2

Absolutely amazing follow on from T2. I was left impressed, there is a little more lead with the female cast which was good to see, but Arnie did not take a back seat either. They should now leave the Terminator films alone with no more & hopefully that was Arnies last. I have disregarded the ones in between so am just focusing on T1, T2 & this one. Other comments have said that cgi was too much, but I disagree. Yes, there's probably more action in this than in T2, but this isn't T2 is it. There was plenty of action in this movie right from the start so did not disappoint. It was really good to see Arnie & Hamilton back together in this one. Would I recommend this film? YES. Would I watch this again? YES. I will also be adding this to my Blu-ray collection when the time comes. There are some small good references to T2 in this one that also nicely link them too, but I won't say anymore. Just go watch it. I have not given this a 10/10 rating as I felt that T2 deserved that rating, this is just a fraction under that so well worthy of a 9/10.

Joker (I) (2019)

My film of the year!

Well, what can I say, most of the reviews are already saying it! This film is really strong & very deep into the character, Joaquin plays the part much better than Nicholson & Ledger in my opinion. I have always been an avid Batman fan growing up with Keaton back in 1989, loved Bales performance too. This however takes in a whole new approach following the Joker story. You will not be disappointed. I would definitely pay to see this all over again. 10/10

The Predator (2018)

We can't really associate this film with the rest of the Predator franchise I'm afraid. There is really no story line to this & it's been said in some of the other reviews, it's too comical. Shane should have kept this simple like the 1st one was. Why overcomplicate with monster Predators & Predator dogs that want to play?? This needed some more stronger characters in it & a story, one predator & that's it! Simple. Budget comes to mind with this one, probably on a tight one so we will now generate some strange storyline and...... yep! Go nowhere. You can do better than this Shane, so let's see another one, but a different approach.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019)

Very disappointed

I was expecting a decent film to say this was from QT. The film has a decent cast, but where's the story?? I really couldn't understand where this film was going. Set in the 60s it was quite a hard film to follow & I was born in the 70s. The film kept leading on to other scenes that were confusing. Don't expect your usual QT violent acts (except the last 5 mins) The only decent outcome of this film was Brad Pitt. This is certainly 1 film I would definitely not recommend. I have no idea where all the 9/10 ratings are coming from - even from those that have slated the film have given it a 7! What's that about?? I was quite fortunate that I only paid a couple of quid to get in on promotion, I certainly would never pay full price to see this.

It wasn't as bad as some reviews are saying. It's more humorous than anything else but still worth a watch. It's got a pretty decent cast too. A bit of a predictable story, but I still enjoyed it as long as you don't take it too seriously.

Not a bad action film. Subtitles as is a French movie but I changed the language so watched in English. This film has plenty of action/shooting so you won't be disappointed. The story is quite thin but it's watchable for something different.

Den of Thieves (2018)

Good action movie!

This film has plenty of action shooting scenes & does not cram this all in at 90mins. The film length allows it to portray the story well without rushing it. Butler is absolutely awesome as always. I was not expecting it to end the way it did so was a decent finish too. I would definitely recommend this to all.

Triple Frontier (2019)

Not sure why there's a few negative reviews? I have definitely seen much worse. There's plenty of action in this film, a decent cast too, the story doesn't delve into the characters profiles enough but focuses more on their goal. The film was quite long but I personally think any shorter then I would have rated about a 4/5. If you enjoyed Sicaro then you'll like this too.

Polar (I) (2019)

A pretty decent film, has a small "kill bill" trace, but still a very good film. Main characters brilliant, I did read one review about Matt Lucas a bad choice for a villain? No, I think he suited this theme pretty well. A good twist to the story too. Well done!

A Star Is Born (2018)

Absolutely amazing

Brilliant film, I'm a guy who usually like his action films but this was definitely a 10/10 rating. Go see it now! Fantastic performances from Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga, I didn't realise until the end credits Cooper Produced & Directed. This is one film I would definitely pay to see again.

Mile 22 (2018)

Plenty of action, but a little busy at the beginning

I was a little sceptical about watching at the cinema, but decided to go ahead. I was a little lost at the beginning, the 1st 5/10 mins was decent, then it kind of got lost explaining irrelevant things, then after half way through it started getting decent again with good action scenes. I do like Whalberg & wasn't disappointed with his role. The beginning could have been a little less confusing.

Acts of Vengeance (2017)

Pretty good film

I had mixed thoughts before watching this film after reading negative reviews, I have to say this movie turned out to be pretty decent. Antonio has made a comeback with an action film. A decent story line that keeps you watching. If you fancy something different other that watching your fav film over again, then watch this. Not bad at all.
