Choose or Die (2022)
Wasted potential!
A lot of horror fans waited for a movie similar to Stay Alive but unfortunately this movie had a good potential and just throw it away with bad screenplay.
Netflix needs to up their game a bit cause it just produces tons of below average films nowdays.
X (2022)
You have the X factor!
X is a hope for the future of horror, it has everything good story, acting, tension, suspense, characters, nudity, gore, horror and a little bit of dark comedy.
A24 has become one of my favorite studios cause they know how to turn a good material into a good movie.
I absolutely enjoyed every minute of X and I liked the editing and sound mixing a lot which is very hard to find in todays horror movies.
You're gonna finish this film wondering what the heck you just watched but I feel like the ambiguity helped the movie a lot and I think there's going to be a prequel to this movie which will explain a lot of things.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Wished James Wan had directed this one!
I enjoyed my time watching The Devil Made Me Do It, but I wanted it to be better!
Ed and Lorraine are the best aspect of this movie, and the production overall was amazing but the element of fear was not there!
Clearly Conjuring part 1 and 2 were better films and more frightening but this one feels more focused on Ed and Lorraine and it shows the deep connection the two have for each other which i loved, and it is more like a mystery investigation type of film than being a horror one.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Very unique and disturbing in a way!
This is one of those films where you finish watching and begin to scratch your head for an explanation to what you just watched. And it definitely a strange film where it kinda try to implement a story from the Greek Mythology done in a very good way. I liked watching this one although it made me uncomfortable. Right off the bat you hear this orchestra music which builds up an atmosphere of mystery.
Cam (2018)
Cringy but I enjoyed it!
Cam is kinda like what's going on with people on social media fighting each other for more views and likes which is kinda scary considering what happened in the movie. Sure this movie has a lot of silly moments but it didn't not take me out of the movie, but the big problem is the ending.
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
Wasted potential!
This film could have been a masterpiece but the ending destroyed everything. The story is very intriguing about a man witnessing the murder of his own family and at the same time witnessing the law government making very unfair decisions so he takes matters into his own hands to bring justice, and he's freakin' awesome!
Everything here is top notch the acting, cinematography, editing but the story at the end is a let down!
I really hoped for a better ending because this movie deserve it.
Thank You for Smoking (2005)
People did hated nicotine!
A man representing one of the most harmful industry in the world (Tobacco industry) hated by everyone, all people in power want him down because then they can take the tobacco industry down with him, but our man here is a master in giving speeches and talking his way out of everything which is very good but that same man is divorced and has a kid who looks up to him so he has to be a good role model and at the same time help to grow the tobacco industry. This film is not perfect but it's a light experience and it has good humor.
The Little Things (2021)
A man confronts his past!
Don't get confused here, this films tells the story of a man (Joe Deacon) who has a history in Los Angeles and after a couple of years he gets to confront his past! This film is very misleading cause at a point you feel like it lost its storyline. It is a slow film with a lot of questions some answers you get very late and some you don't. Performances are great from everyone Jared, Rami and Denzel. I think what the film tries to tell us is that the little things we do have a big impact on what we feel and what we could become. And also the past is the future and the future is the past. Not a perfect film but not that bad either.
Soul (2020)
Pixar always delivers!
Soul touches your soul without any doubt. It's easy for Pixar movies to make me shed a tear and especially in Soul. It was amazing to watch this film as it delivers a big message in life and also a big question which is what's our spark? what do we live for, and what makes us happy.
I definitely recommend Soul to anyone actually to watch you'll have a blast. N.B I love jazz music.
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020)
Boseman is gonna be missed.
This film feels and looks like a play because it is actually based on a play by August Wilson so it depends heavily on dialogues which were interesting. I really liked the performances especially Boseman who made a very strong performance. The film talks about racism to the african americans and it included a good character development of Boseman. Overall a good film.
Sound of Metal (2019)
Fresh and Original!
I was blown away by how good this movie was. It's very well crafted and I lived inside Ruben's head (Riz Ahmed) and experienced what he experienced which is being deaf. I learned a lot about deaf society and this movie made me rethink a lot of things and it left me with a positive impact. I really wish more people would watch this one because this film is deserved to be recognized. Riz has landed his best performance till date.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Interesting!
I enjoyed watching this show although not every episode have a meaning behind it, but there were a couple of awesome episodes with bigger meanings.
Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Tenet (2020)
Tenet is an achievement but not a masterpiece!
As you would expect Tenet is a mind bending movie, it is very complicated and complex. Nolan made a big cinematic achievement yet it is not enjoyable. time inversion is magnificent in the visual experience and the score overall is very good, but the story though is not easy to understand nor to enjoy it. There was no time for you to take a second to understand what's going on which was helpful to get you engaged but without joy. I think Nolan could have written better script and used a better story structure because first time watching this movie you'll definitely would wonder what the hell is going on.
Run (2020)
Impressive!!
Run has everything you want to see in a thriller flick. Tension was well build, the protagonist was a very interesting character. Performances was just brilliant from both Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen.
The Village (2004)
Very under-rated M. Night movie!
The Village is so underrated and I think that's because most people thought this film was a horror film and it's not. Sure it has some fear elements but it is rather a thriller than a horror and it was very good!
It is filled with M. Night's style, suspense and tension were build perfectly and M played around with the facts making you very engaged.
Red Eye (2005)
Non stop thriller!
You'll never get bored while watching Red Eye, I enjoyed my time and I liked the decisions made by the protagonist cause it's smart and loved having Wes Cravin behind the camera and I felt like he added some horror to the movie.
Project Power (2020)
It could have been much better!
I did enjoy the movie but the problem is that it had big potential but the plot is very generic I think it needed more time! But the performances are amazing, the cinematography and the tone of the film.
Superbad (2007)
Superbad is super funny!
I really enjoyed this one, it's very funny and not cheesy like a lot of comedy movies nowdays!
I totally love it!
Waiting for the Barbarians (2019)
Total let down!!
I was really excited for this movie as Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson take part in it, but it was trash.
The story is so poor, the characters are so boring and I don't know why they made this film.
