Mars (2016)
It's like someone tried to make the worst series possible
I'll just cut to the chase, this is one of the WORST of television I've ever seen. It's like the Western version of those ridiculous Bollywood movies people laugh about. About 99% of the fictitious story consists of overused, disgusting, cringe-inducing cliché scenes. And I'm not even exaggerating. There is almost like 0% originality in the dialogues or minor events happening. Honestly, I'm not exaggerating, I'm actually shocked, how can a non-mentally- handicapped team of writers come up with a script where every single sentence is extremely banal and cringe-worthy.
Of course, there are a few positive things such as the non- fictitious parts with the actual science and interviews, as well as the CGI. Except for some scenes when they film Mars on Earth and it looks absolutely fake and non-believable. If you don't know how to mimic lower gravity, at least slow down the play speed of those scenes so that it doesn't look like lost hikers in a cave.
But generally, every single moment of the 2033 made me cringe. I actually think Neil Breen movies are better written and directed in the sense of actor play. The actors kinda sucked, but it wasn't that bad, except for the Asian lady who just annoyed the hell out of me with her fake and stupid slow-talking, and whining about her cliché emotions. Hello, no one cares about a new, undeveloped, unlikable, annoying character's banal feelings towards her sister.
Don't let lazy interns write your script and make your series.
I really could't watch this without a strong unease, but try and see how it is if you can handle it.
South Park: Members Only (2016)
Worst season so far - one big politics episode that is stretched into a whole season.
I watched all South Park seasons in the last few months. About 2 weeks ago I got till the 20th season. So yeah, every next episode I watched i got more and more disappointed and later angry. So here are a few reasons why IMO this season is trash:
1) CONSTANT POLITICS - it is OK for a fully political episode to happen now and then, but the whole season is one big sh** politics episode. No more Butters just goofing around, friends hanging around and doing stuff and so on. This season its all related to politics.
2) Political meanings are terrible - I've always liked the fact that South Park makes fun of people who are both leftists and rightists, but here it's just constant goddamn Trump bashing. In every episode. It would be at least somewhat better if the jokes about Trump would have any truth, but the meanings they hide under are just ridiculously inaccurate and stupid. If you are not a totally biased trump- protester without any critical thinking, then you will see what I'm talking about. I'm not even just talking about Trump, the other things they try to put so much meaning in like member berries, trolls, and others are just pathetic and cringe worthy.
3) The writing is worse than in any of the previous seasons. You can clearly see that they weren't expecting Trump to win, so they had to connect the already senseless meanings of the season with the unexpected outcome of the election. Many of the jokes start reminding Family Guy, and in all honesty - Family Guy's new season is much better than Southpark's.
All in all, I never thought I could be so disappointed with South Park. I hope they will drop this season-long political plots with terrible meanings and weak jokes, and I hope they won't start translating their series on CNN.
