Outer Range (2022)
Starts slow, stays slow
6 episodes in and it seems like it's still trying to lay a basic foundation for the story, it should have progressed a lot more by now.
As far as the characters, it's as if the writers deliberately made sure that none of them were likable.
I'll give it a few more episodes, but I've got my parachute on and I'm ready to jump off this if it keeps spinning back to earth.
Who knows, maybe they're too distracted by Elon Musk buying twitter, but whatever the reason is, at least through episode 6, they have failed. What they've written so far is so weak that it's the sort of thing you would leave off of your resume.
Hellier (2019)
Causes a warp in the space time continuum
This show breaks the laws of physics.
Each episode is around an hour long, but each seems as though it's 12 hours long and spins in place the entire time.
If you have a lot of time to waste and like utter boredom, this may be right up your alley.
Roswell, New Mexico (2019)
Terrible - 20 something writers inflict their politics and PC ideals
Scripted entertainment in 2018 has jumped the shark.
The original show steered clear of politics and was interesting, I was a big fan. The reboot is a sweaty try hard that fails in every possible way.
When protagonist Liz Ortecho is asked why she returned to Roswell, she said she was laid off from her important job doing important work just because someone wanted to build a wall. Ugh. Not why I watch TV.
The writers also made sure to include commentary on race, sexual orientation and fully embrace victim politics.
What they didn't worry about? Writing a show that's entertaining. Instead, their single minded focus on being PC and inflicting their political views into the show make it boring and essentially unwatchable. It's a fail.
In a few weeks when the sanctimonious and self righteous 20 something writers are out of work, maybe they will have learned something that will help them the next time they land a writing gig, but I doubt it.
Gold Rush: Parker's Trail (2017)
Parker's trail of boring
Gold Rush is a great show and Parker is great on Gold Rush, but this show is slow paced and boring.
Revolt (2017)
2 stars and 1 of those is a pity star
This is on par with a bad SyFy original movie, the script should be pushing daisies, never made into a film.
Shifting Gears with Aaron Kaufman (2018)
I give it 1 stars - but 10 ZZZZZZZZZZs
Show is boring and hasn't shown a glimmer that it will change. Aaron was great as the straight man to Richard's wild and over the top persona, doesn't work without him.
Gold Rush: White Water (2018)
It's not interesting
It's boring. Every other gold mining related show is better than this. Take away "Gold Rush" as it's lead in and viewership will be limited to family and friends of crew and cast members. I gave it a chance, watched the first 6 episodes, but it just isn't interesting.
Amy Schumer: The Leather Special (2017)
This actually IS a trainwreck
If you want to watch Amy Schumer being funny and entertaining, watch the movie "Trainwreck." Amy Schumer: The Leather Special (2017) is an actual trainwreck. The Leather Special relies on vulgarity and shock value rather than intelligent comic observation. I abandoned ship at about the 2/3 rd point, maybe the last 1/3 rd is funny.
Alex Cross (2012)
1 hour 40 minutes
If you can think of ANYTHING else to do for 1 hour 40 minutes, do it. Poorly scripted, odd casting, poorly executed, worst stunts since the 70's. The movie simply fails to ever become interesting. Matthew Fox's performance as Picasso was over the top, unbelievable and was the worst performance I have seen from him. Tyler Perry was equally hard to buy as Alex Cross though he was better than Fox. The storyline included way too much unnecessary distraction that could only have been left in as filler. I also found the over the top stereotyping of Germans to be insulting, but it is this hypocritical double standard that connects this movie with Perry's other works and it is not OK. Perry has a core audience and a formula for success that is based around generating as much revenue as possible from that audience, utilizing works not based on production value, dramatic story lines or artistic expression. If this is an example of the best he can produce outside the lucrative niche he has created, he should stick to what he is famous for.
