The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Should be considered a warcrime
I have long been a super fan of Tolkien's works, especially the Middle Earth stuff, and have read all of his books multiple times, and I can comfortably say that this show has nothing to do with Tolkien's world. I knew going in that I would disagree with some decisions being made, but as long as it wasn't anything major there shouldn't be a problem. But boy was I wrong. They changed way too much, in a negative way, and so much stuff doesn't even make sense. But it's not only lore-related stuff that makes it bad. The dialogue is terrible, and the writing over all is just awful. It is a wonder this project was green-lit, and tbh I am appalled there is more seasons to come.... Shame on you.
Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You (2017)
A solid Pokémon film
Was it perfect? No. Were som things ridiculous/dumb? Yes. Was Pikachu talking ridiculous? Both yes and no. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and thought it was a solid and fun, even beautiful, Pokémon flick even with its flaws. It was nice seeing Ash being a somewhat competent trainer and even though Team Rocket didn't get to do anything, and there were no Misty or Brock in any form I do recommend this film if you are a Pokémon fan and a fan of the anime. Some will love it, some will hate it. Don't rely too much on the reviews, including this, and just watch the film and decide for yourself if you like it or not.
Taskmaster: Down an Octave (2015)
Great episode! Previous rating is stupid
This episode was really funny!
The previous rating that gives this a 1 because of spoilers is just dumb. The only films that were "spoiled" were Steel Magnolias, from 1989, and The full Monty, from 1997. This episode came out in 2015 so the spoiler complaint is ridiculous
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Trash, just trash...
Contradiction, after contradiction. Pretty much zero logic. Ridiculous plot. Return of Palpatine both illogical, and handled soo badly. Lighsaber duals are garbage. Breaks Star Wars canon, and doesn't care about earlier films. Only reason it doesn't get the absolute lowest score is because of the actors. But please, for the live of all that is holy, fire Kathleen Kennedy, and ban JJ and all the writers of this movie from ever working on Star Wars ever again...
The Patriot (2000)
Embarrassingly anti-history
I mean, this movie is so incredibly inaccurate. They are really romanticising the American history and paints them as really noble, at the same time really spewing their anti-britain propaganda that it's ridiculous. Making stuff up, ignoring American brutality, ignoring that many Americans fought for the crown, changing history and treating something done by both sides as cruel by the British, and noble by the Americans, even though they are doing the exact same thing... It's an incredibly ridiculous film
1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992)
Terrible, inaccurate, terrible film
If you do watch this, disregard everything about the history. Pretty much everything is wrong. Colombus was a really terrible person who was terrible at math, and that is why he was a laughing stock, not because he thought the earth was round and everybody else that it was flat, because they didn't. Every learned person knew that it was round, and yet this film paints Colombus as a visionary, for some reason... Once again, if you for some reason watch this, keep in mind that the history presented is awfully inaccurate... A terrible film, but since he was a terrible person it may be fitting
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Better than expected
As a European who knows how highly the Eurovision is held in Europe but isn't a fan of it, I expected this to be mediocre and glorifying the contest to make it more appealing. I was wrong, it really makes a good job of parodying the European hype (which isn't that exaggerated tbh) and making fun of, while at the same time somehow praising it. No, the film won't be for everyone and some might dislike it, but it feels like most low reviews are from Americans that doesn't understand the references or thinks this is so exaggerated and silly. Have even seen a review which was low simply because Will Ferrell started in it, which is ridiculous... Just ignore the reviews, good and bad, and see for yourself if you like it or not. Simple as that
Legends of Tomorrow: Fellowship of the Spear (2017)
No, just no...
This episode was a real downer. As a huge Tolkien and WW1 nerd this episode was so bad. The setting was wrong, it didn't look a bit like the real battlefield of Somme, the story was weak, and the take on Tolkien was just ridiculous.. And to top it all of, the make Rip do an Aragorn-speech so that Tolkien would get inspiration for it later. THAT SPEECH ISN'T EVEN FROM THE BOOKS! It was added by the filmmakers, which makes it just bad...
Only reason it gets a five is because of the Legion, Rory and the actors, nothing else... Soooo bad
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Incredible story
This is one of the best war movies there has been. Yes some things are exaggerated, like the size of the ridge, but that can be understood for dramatic reasons.
I have seen many reviews clainlming it's unrealistic, which is nonsense.
They complain about the Japanese don't cutting the rope ladder, which they didn't do IRL. They complain about Doss being the only one on the ridge and noone climbing up to help him, which was what happend IRL. They complain about the shouting, which happend IRL because when the enemy knows where you are, bombs and granades are exploding everywhere and there's a full firefight going on you are not gonna whisper, you are gonna yell so everyone can here you. And the Japanese often did yell when rushing in to intimidate the americans...
If you see a review complaining about these things, just ignore it because they clearly don't know anything....
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Entertaining. Good popcorn movie
Although the film focused more on the human characters and drama and had way too many of them, it was still entertaining enough and the monster fighting/action scenes more than made up for it. Not the best execution of what could've been an interesting plot, but overall better than Godzilla (2014) and an enjoyable popcorn movie.
Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020)
Terrible, just terrible
Wow, this was a really, really bad episode... The acting from Kane and the old lady was dreadful. The plot twist that Kane was Bella's mother came out of nowhere without any kind of hints, and that's NOT how you do a plot twist...
It also said "f you" to basic Doctor Who lore. The Earth dying is only one possible future, and it can be avoided? So what happened to fixed points in time? If Rose's dad dying was a fixed point in time, the entire planet dying would clearly also be a fixed point and unavoidable, so why does The Doctor say there's a chance it's not gonna happen?...
ALSO, if the planet died and a few people mutaded, that would take thousands and thousands of year, but I can let that go. However, if all other life died, what is supplying the Dregg with CO2? If there are no animals or humans to breath the oxygen, the CO2 would clearly run out eventually...
And last but certainly not least; I am aware that climate change is a threat, but keep the politics out of the fictional TV shows. And certainly don't create an entire plot around it.... Doctor Who is filled with current day politics what too much.. It's even worse than the show trying to be hip and cool... Bring back Davies and Moffat (yes, even Moffat's writing was better)
Poketto monsutâ: Pulling out the Pokémon Base Pepper! (2017)
Soooooooo boring
The whole season has been lame, but this was the worst episode I have ever seen, by far. Slow, boring and didn't feel like Pokémon at all... And how is it fair that a professional plays in the game between amateurs?? Didn't make sense at all.... Also, Wobuffet had the ball before snorlax was in and still had the ball quite a while when he landed, so HOW could the school win?
Lazy writing to make the "heroes" win...
