Why does Hobbs & Shaw get a pass and this doesn't?
22 August 2019
For a part 3 of a franchise, it was awesome and probably the best out of the three. Great action packed movie, with some twists here and there. Not a mind blowing story, but the execution was great and finally a movie without stupid humor.

It's mind blowing to the see the amazing reviews for Hobbs and Shaw and already hate for this one. Hobbs and Shaw was near terrible and couldn't stay away from cheap cameos and comedy.

This is a great fun action packed movie, that's worth a watch for sure! 8/10

Aquaman (2018)

How much can I get from DC if I give this 10 stars?
21 December 2018
What's going on?! All the 10 star ratings, it's crazy.

I absolutely hated this piece of trash. Jason is cool, but it ends there. Amber Heard is just a terrible actress and it showed, especially when she gets cheesy dialogue. Nicole Kidman is amazing, but didn't have a lot to do with the overall feel of the movie. The jokes made no one in my theater laugh, literally no one.

CGI is understandable to create the underwater world, but there were lots of moments when the characters where replaced with CGI and it looked terrible. There was only one moment where we actually saw Patrick Wilson, besides that he looked CGI'ed the whole time.

The movie dragged way too long, after a good opening start we get no introduction to Atlantis, but we suddenly need to care for it. Even the establishing shots of Atlantis seem dull, because there is no back story or whatever. Almost to the end we get some backstory, but it's not enough to make you care about Atlantis.

A big CGI battle, where the bad guy fights a not introduced opponent, who is also completely CGI, how are we supposed to feel any connection to that?

Don't even get me started on Black Manta, he was pushed aside and suddenly came back during the whole National Treasure part of the film. He looked so silly in the suit and acted even worse. He has a big death beam, but after using it starts to actually fight Aquaman... It made no sense.

It really had potential if they replaced Amber Heard, opened with a better explanation of Atlantis, kept Aquamans intro short and then started with the actual story. It took more then an hour to really get somewhere in this film and by that time I already knew where it was going and was already bored.

Awesome, until Chris Hemsworth comes in and ruins it
12 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't have high expectations, so the film really blew me away the first 80 minutes. It was a fun thrilling ride with a little bit of a slow start, until the climax.

Going into the final sequence of the movie, it really became a wannabe of Hateful Eight. This is around the time Chris Hemsworth makes his real appearance into the film.

I always have a hard time seeing Chris not as Thor and in this case, the shirtless body didn't help with changing his Thor image. The wannabe Tarantino setting with things like "I didn't ask you" reminded me so much of the Pulp Fiction moment where Sam Jackson says "I can't remember asking you a God damn thing". Not only is Hemsworth not good enough to pull it off, the script just stretches way to thin to make it enjoyable.

Even after the half way point I would rate this a solid 8, but after that it becomes a 6 at best. A 7 seems fair, I wished they made a better conclusion and left Hemsworth out of it.

Really unclear what to think of this movie.
23 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Did I like it? I really don't know. I'm almost unable to remember the beginning of the movie, except for the fact that I liked the opening when everything was still earthbound.

Then going into space was cool and started nicely.

Then it got confusing, after the emotional scene where Cooper was watching the videos of the last 23 years. After that I was like.. what is this? I couldn't really understand it. And I was figuring out if I was enjoying it or not. The fact that I didn't really understand it also made me think, what's going to happen now? Which makes (I guess) almost one and a half hour of film tediously long.

The events on earth were so much better than in space, but that's really my opinion, I'm not a very big fan of space (why did I went to see this movie? Well I have a subscription to the cinema, so I can go as many times as I want, to every movie for just 26 bucks a month. And the film looked promising).

Than the scene that reminded me about the ending of Lucy, when the black hole was breaking up, the crazy stuff that was going on. I CAN'T STAND THAT. The weird moving around in weird stuff, I can't seem to process that. Just like inside the black hole, it's too insane, too weird. Horrible to watch those things. I don't know if I'm the only one in these things, but places in film where there isn't really an up or down or where there is some weird energy or endless space make me go crazy. The endless ocean where they came first was tolerable for me, but the scene shouldn't have been any longer.

What I do know and absolutely love is the cinematography and the use of actual film and the IMAX 70mm. You really pay for something extra, unlike the digital shot films that are being sold as IMAX, but believe me some of them are just blown up 2K video, which is just a little step bigger than 1080p.

Also a big thank you to Hans Zimmer for another insane job on the music. The music really made the scenes, especially when I couldn't really follow what was going on. I could feel the emotion true the music. Although it was a little too loud. No problem with dialogue, since I'm not American and we have subtitles on the screen.
