Resurrection (2022)
Garbage Movie, doesn't make any sense and is tortuously slow
The only explanation I can conjure for the 6/10 rating of this movie is that 12 year old have recently started being allowed to watch these movies and they're finding them oh-so-interesting.
This is kitsch pretending to be something deep but failing miserably to be that. There is literally no explanation for many decisions that the characters take, no explanation for some potentially crucial artefacts mentioned in the movie.
All the characters in the movie are unlikeable and insipid, but noone more so than the main character played by the horse-faced Rebecca Hall. Apparently the movie producers think her equine body proportions are something to be flaunted, having her stretch her alien neck into posture and exposing the C3/C4 bones covering her spine, which is instantly repulsive.
And for the audience to force themselves into believing that someone is going to 'fall in love' with this screwed up of a character and then be rejected (and assaulted) in the middle of the street is just hilarious.
The final showdown of the main character and the antagonist is just pathetic and could only have been written by a 12 year old.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
A gigantic failure and very frustrating to watch.
Even among sci-fi movies, The Matrix trilogy holds a hallowed position. Watching the trilogy, you get a grand unifying sense of deeper truth and philosophy similar to what binge watching Lord of the rings or Harry Potter movies brings.
This absolute failure of an attempt at a money-grab however, is on the same sci-fi level as 'Alien Vs. Predator' or 'Universal Solider' and watching it feels as such and definitely doesn't feel like a continuation of the previous three movies, despite it force-feeding us scenes from the previous movies every few minutes.
Just to be clear, the second and third movies in the trilogy get a bad rap for little reason, they had a lot of philosophical undertones without being too on the nose, and were visually attractive as well.
This 4th movie is so so poorly conceived and even more badly executed that you have to wonder how the same director wrote the previous trilogy.
Too on the nose, too trying to be meta without succeeding, too low budget.
It just seems that the audience's sensibilities have far far exceeded the director's pathetic attempts at "ideas" which don't succeed at all.
The new Morpheus, Smith and Merovingian characters are jokes forcibly written into this movie without any rhyme or reason at all. They have ~ 2-3 minutes of screen time at most without any consequence. I can see doing that to Merovingian but Smith and Morpheus?
The jokes don't land, there's no character development, the action scenes are surprisingly bland and have no effect and almost every few scenes there's a flashback from one of the previous movies which gets super duper irritating very quickly.
All in all, a gigantic failure and a frustrating experience.
A Fall from Grace (2020)
Low budget boring snoozefest - way way higher rating than it deserves
I don't know why this movie is so highly rated (perhaps because everything with a black cast is apparently considered gold these days by the left) but from the first scene itself it reeks of a low budget snoozefest.
I am not sure why Netflix chose this garbage, please avoid.
Goddess of Love (2015)
Surprised there are people that can give this anything over a 1
Please don't waste your time watching this garbage. If the nokia 3310 came with a camera and you made an ad-hoc recording of people walking on the street with that camera, it would look and have a better story than this piece of trash.
The Frontier (2015)
Looks like the movie was made in 1970
I don't know how a movie made in 2015 can look this bad. Perhaps they found a lot of tech from the 1970s lying around and had a bunch of people living in old age homes write the story, screenplay and direct the movie.
You could film a prettier looking movie with an iPhone. Low budget trash.
Terminal (2018)
Alternate name - Migraine
They just discovered another trigger for migraine - this movie. Uff, everything from the pathetic story to the plastic smile stuck on Margot robbie's overused face to the pretentious lighting and setup here combines wonderfully for a single purpose - to give you a migraine.
Did they think this stupid pretentious piece of trash would make them money? Or did they believe this was artistic by any stretch of the mind?
Cash Only (2015)
Couldn't watch for more than the first two scenes - pathetic camera action.
Whoever did the camera work for this movie ruined what could possibly be a good movie with their pathetic skills, and should never ever get another job holding a camera.
Couldn't watch more than two scenes without being turned off by the
shaky camera work and the weird zoom in angles.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Slightly overrated but tolerable
The movie's slightly overrated, should be in the 5.5-6/10 range. It's pretty slow and doesn't have a great story, but the screenplay and setup of the story save it.
A Vigilante (2018)
WTH was that garbage lol!
There is less than 2 minutes of story in this movie. A woman has been wronged by her husband and turns into a vigilante, doling out beatings and illegal money transfers to battered spouses from their abusers.
It's just one abusive spouse after another and they don't even show how Olivia wilde fights off the abusers - just the end result.
Even in 2x and with LOTS of fast forwarding, there wasn't anything to miss apparently.
You could watch the first scene and the last sequence and you'd know everything to know there is in the movie. And it's not like the rest is enjoyable too.
Avoid.
Time Now (2021)
No story, weaksauce payoff and weird characters. Super duper slow!
Watched this flaming piece of garbage in 3x and it still moved at an inch an hour. I've seen snails move faster.
The story is garbage, there is no payoff and the characters are annoying and weird. The acting is horrible too.
Please don't waste your time on this one. The 10/10 and 9/10 ratings are all from the people directly involved with this garbage.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
Bad story and worse characters
Watched it in 2x and was still a boring snooze-fest.
Apparently ugly haircuts are an acceptable alternative to actual combat training.
The protagonist in the movie has 1 fight training scene during which she's told to go for the eyes, ears and balls. Apparently that's enough combat training to take out bigwigs in a terrorist ring.
Not to mention that the poor writing ensures that at no point do you feel for the protagonist given how ungrateful, arrogant and cliched she comes across as. Asking for huge favors and then discarding the same people who helped her at a whim or getting them killed. All this after the softball setup where the protagonist was actually wronged by the bad guys and they still blew it.
No other character in the movie gets any development or much screentime, the 'mentor' character just turns out to be a convenient plot device with no character buildup at all.
Shirley (2020)
Super boring - even in 2x
This movie is just weird and boring. It fails to establish any character traits for any of the protagonists and all of them just come across as psychotic weirdos.
I watched it in 2x, and yet got an overwhelming feeling of boredom. Should have quit in the first 15 minutes.
Don't try to analyze this, there's nothing here - just trash.
The Vanished (2020)
Deserves a higher rating - Nice movie with a proper ending
The movie was nice and had a proper ending which is a lot of ask in these times of idiotic 'open-endings' which apparently the director 'intends' (and totally not because they're an incompetent moron without the guts to pick an ending).
If people are finding it 'slow', watch it in 2x, geez. The story is not slow and makes decent amount of progress and tries hard to throw you off.
All in all, an enjoyable movie (in 2x) if you don't analyze it to death and try to look for loopholes.
Deserves atleast a 6.5/10.
Candyman (2021)
Low budget garbage
Not everything needs to be about racism, this movie is the definition of overmilking a cow.
Everything reeks of a low budget here - including the story, direction, screenplay, cast and locations.
I had to give it two attempts to finish the movie, it was that boring.
Road Head (2020)
What utter trash!
Whoever gave this seriously demented snoozefest more than 1 out of 10 stars is not right in the head.
It's an absolute drag of a movie about decapitation (no non-idiotic reason provided in the movie as to why said decapitations are taking place), smoking weed and biting dicks and a budget cast that are probably the filmmakers' relatives or something.
Nightbooks (2021)
Tolerable story, intolerable actors
The story's OK, but the characters are so intolerable they give you a headache.
The black girl in the movie is the epitome of annoyance. She's rude, stuck-up and ungrateful - and has the gall to say stuff like 'That's what friends do' when someone saves her from the witch.
The witch has no character and whenever she opens her mouth, annoys too.
It's impressive how they managed to create a movie where it seems like none of the three main characters have any significant role to play in the movie.
The stories within the movie are a snoozefest, not sure who would find those stories 'scary', much less a witch who should be privy to far more scary stories.
Four More Shots Please! (2019)
Because what would feminism be without male bashing
For an ideology that hides behind the 'no true scotsman' defense like a child hiding behind its mommy's breasts, feminism sure don't seem to attempt to do anything beyond male bashing like it's 2005 and shouting "vagina" to an applause?
Oh and sex, the rest of the series is about sex and how all women think about is sex, alcohol, condoms and men being "eww" but please gib sax thx
This one's a clear win for feminism folks, because where will all the malnourished, exhausted women with 3 children working round the clock find their fix for alcohol and sex and male bashing?
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Dialogue and Twists from 1998 are back
I don't know how this movie has such a high rating, it has nothing omg.
The twists are 10 year old atleast, and you see all the reveals coming a mile away.
They need to change the writing team for the next one for sure.
The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the effort it must have taken to shoot the action/chase scenes. The result is, well, meh - but I appreciate the effort.
Everybody talks in three word sentences for some reason - 'take it off', 'shut it down', 'never doubted you' because anything more would likely be too much for the prospective 8 year old audience to handle?
Fantasy Island (2020)
possibly written by a child or a dog
I can't imagine a full grown adult writing this garbage and a room full of adults approving it for production.
Bad acting, cheap cinematography and a pathetic story line that introduces new 'rules' whenever convenient to keep dragging the story ahead
The reveal is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen, brushed behind a casual 'it was all an act'.
The Dark and the Wicked (2020)
low budget garbage
No polish, actors look like trash. I started watching it in 2x and it was still a snoozefest, couldn't get past more than 20 minutes of this sewage.
Scare Me (2020)
Badly made movie, boring to watch.
If people wanted to watch two unattractive bad actors do a dramatic enactment of even poorer stories, they'd just do it among themselves.
Low budget garbage. 1/10.
Swallow (2019)
Utterly boring. I am not sure why it has such a high rating.
Not worth the time, very boring. Please skip. I watched it in 2x and still was totally and utterly bored of this garbage.
Mandy (2018)
Garbage.
This is one of those 'intentionally' open-ended movies in which the director leaves the ending open to show you how intelligent they are when actually they're a dimwitted idiot who can't choose from two options when it's literally their job.
The movie is garbage, the cinematography is trash and nicolas cage is about the only good thing about this movie.
Come to Daddy (2019)
Funny in bits, but predictable
It's funny at times and well acted. But it's mostly predictable. 6/10 for a few hilariously weird scenes.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
Poorly done - waste of time.
There is no effort to setup atmosphere, which is like 60% of a horror movie. The plot is lazy, the acting and dialogue is anachronistic for a movie based on 1968 and this is no anthology.
A far far superior anthology is the Mortuary collection.
