Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
These reviews make absolutely NO sense.
HOW CAN PEOPLE SAY THIS WAS BAD???
Do any of you have a childhood! This was perfect! I literally could not stop watching this.
The story was pretty awesome, Lebron was so funny in this, all the little call backs were so perfect!
This is seriously such a perfect nostalgic movie for right now.
In the Earth (2021)
A modern folktale on acid.
This was....something. I have no clue what these people rating this a 1-4 are talking about. This was AMAZING.
A modern folktale on the relationship with humans and nature and the fight to be harmonious when it'll never happen.
Words cannot explain how CRAZY this movie is. The editing, the visuals, but most of all the SOUND. The score and the sound effects in this are just next level. Half of the movie consists of some of the most insanely annoying yet most uncomfortable things you've ever heard. They're literally just frequencies and noises but after hearing them it's just stuck in your head.
The visuals...wow the visuals. 3 different scenes caused me to completely cringe and I NEVER cringe at body horror. Never have, except for those 3 scenes. I have 0 clue how they caused it to be so realistic...so visceral
Also the editing and the psychedelic-inspired (obviously) make you feel like you took a handful of mushrooms (pun intended, if you've seen the movie). It's utterly mesmerizing
The story is very interesting as you're dropped into basically the middle of a story. A pandemic is happening, 2 researchers are missing, a scientist and a park ranger are going to find them.
That's when Martin ends up where he is at the beginning of the movie. After that, the sh!tshow begins.
I almost thought Olivia was gonna be good, ALMOST. As soon as I heard her and Zach were once together though, I knew for a fact she was gonna be crazy as hell too.
This movie shows no matter what side you're on, scientific or not, you can go mad with the search for answers.
The amount of inspirations in this movie is a LOT. I mean very folktale-like, paganism, nature mysticism, Wicca, so so much stuff you can make little notes on. It's just phenomenal.
Bird Box (2018)
What movie did you guys watch? Seriously.
I honestly dont get the hate for this movie. For me these were the biggest pros:
1. Acting: The acting in this was great and realistic. Nothing too extravagant but of course we got a great role from John Malkovich and Sandr Bullock of course. All the others filled their roles respctively and done well.
2. Storyline: The storyline in my.opinion was adapyed differently from the source material yet still coherent. The non-linear style was actually very smart and left you really wanting more out of it every time it switched from the "present" to when things first started. It didn't take any u necessary routes and every minute was used to.its capacity.
3. Emotional Punch: I was on the edge of my seat 75% of the movie. It was an intense movie honestly and there were times where I really thought things were gonna just go downhill, especially near the end. Also, around the ending with all the loose ends wrapped up in a sense it really made a lot more sense of where the storyline was headed and how Marjorie's character has evolved throughout the movie from being a someone non-emotional rock to finally accepting the children and the idea of actually caring for someone
4. Realism: Some of the characters were stupid, but thats what's gonna happen in real life. People are idiots and not every single person in the world is gonna make the right decision or else all of us would be able yo save the world basically. Some characters were betrayed, some did the betraying. Some did things without thinking, some overthought things. Its realistic and that's what I liked about it.
5. Cohesion: Everything in the movie set up for something else. Whether it be what happened at the market or what happened with Lydia. Even some later parts can pretty much set up the rest of the movie. Yes parts are somewhat cliche but honestly, at this point, what isn't.
This movie was honestly really enjoyable for me and I'm honestly very very surprised that there's so many negative reviews. From what I've seen a lot of these reviews have more "questions than answers" but half of them seem to have skimmed through the movie when a lot of their questions are answeres in the movie.
-Why can't the monsters get into the house? Does nobody remember that anytime there was a creature that the wind would pick up or that the trees started to sway a lot? Theyre probably tied to something of that sorts. Kind of Like what The Happening shouldve been.
- Why were the crazy people able to live?
This movie was very straightforward so I really sont understand all the confusion.
Phoenix Forgotten (2017)
Hidden gem. Do not overlook or underestimate this movie.
This movie really surprised me honestly. I did not expect at all to like it as much as I did. I'm a huge fan of the found footage genre when done right and it's very hard to find some good ones out there. This movie in particular was hands down my favorite "indie", as you can all it, found footage movie.
From the beginning there's already a sense of suspense to it and mystery behind what happened to the missing trio. It's kinda obvious based off of the type of movie this is that they are abducted, but what leads up to it is very interesting. A slow burner for sure, not much interesting happens until the last 30 minutes but before that is a very well crafted backstory and "mockumentary" style movie. They go in depth of the backstory of each of the kids and the protagonist of the movie is on a constant search for not only her missing brother but the other 2 that he brought along with him. Being an AZ native I was very surprised at how realistic this movie is and really, even if you're not from there, this movie is VERY realistic. The acting seems real, the way it's filmed feel very 90's, and the actual events aren't your usual CGI and jumpscare filled horror. There's a lot of suspense and mystery behind what actually happened.
This movie I would recommend to anyone with a willing eye, or just anyone in general.
The Bye Bye Man (2017)
Don't trust these other reviews
This movie was very impressive to me, especially as a starter for horror in the new year. The whole basis of the movie was of the titled Bye Bye Man. A creature, ghost, entity, whatever, is not defined; He is still a horrifying thing. The first half of the movie gets into it very quickly. We get a decent introduction to all the characters, and then right there everything just starts going down. As the movie progressed I was honestly very gripped by it and the overall feel of the movie was amazing. One of the coolest parts of the movie is how the Bye Bye Man not only affects the characters but the viewer in many ways. I was completely shocked by how well down this movie was honestly. it was a refreshing take on the idea of a boogeyman-type character. Yes this movie may be full of clichés, but hey, that hasn't stopped some movies from becoming amazing. The clichés actually, in my opinion, worked and helped the story line of the movie.
I really recommend anyone who's a casual or big horror fan to watch this movie. Don't go into it thinking it's going to be some amazing Nightmare On Elm Street level horror movie. Go into it with a fresh mind and just experience it. You will not regret it.
It Follows (2014)
Disappointed....majorly
There are many things i love about this, mainly the whole stalking ghost sh*t but it just wasn't executed well. Whoever even had the idea for how "it" is spread must have been high or something because that idea seriously makes no sense and is just not good at all. I wish it would've had another way of spreading, maybe like a zombie thing (bodily fluids like spit, sweat etc) infiltrating another's body or possibly like an occult type situation. These might be a little far fetched but would still make so much more sense than what the movie portrays. I saw the trailer for this movie and was so hyped about it but as it went on...it just started boring me and got way too sexual for literally no reason.
Prom Night (2008)
Honestly, pretty enjoyable, but still VERY BAD.
I can honestly say that I actually really enjoyed watching this movie. I honestly don't care that this movie was 100% full of clichés but I actually like movies that are like that. Yeah it may not be good, but its at least very enjoyable, well to me at least. its a movie, like the remake of Black Christmas, thats usually watched for more entertainment than actually being watched intently and carefully for a storyline or whatever. Once again, its a movie that I actually really liked, and i can say there were some few times that I actually saw some pretty good acting and ideas but were just executed terribly. I'd say its decent, not amazing, but not horrible in my opinion.
Unfriended (2014)
Was expecting more....A LOT MORE
OK i've heard so many goo things about this movie and I was so excited to see it ( i had to watch it online), and I was very surprised....but not in a good way...at all.
When it started it seemed to me like the usual "teenage horror movie" and it started getting better and different than a usual horror movie. Soon, I realized just how bad it started to get. It went downhill so fast! I expected WAY MORE from this.
To me, this movie shouldn't even have a 5.9 rating at all! I've seen WAAAAYYY better movies than this garbage! I would not recommend ANY horror movie lover to watch this. It will bore you within 30 minutes an the rest of the 50-ish minutes will put you nearly to sleep because IT WASN'T INTERESTING.
Also, for those SOLELY reviewing this based on it's message are idiots. A MOVIE ISN'T A GOOD MOVIE IF IT JUST HAS A GOOD MESSAGE. A good movie can still have a bad or good message, but so can terrible movies. Makes no difference whatsoever.
Evidence (2012)
Very, very short summary to wrap up a very big movie.
This was one of the better found footage movies i've seen. The idea was amazing and it looked amazing for only having a 12,000 dollar budget.
***SPOILERS***
Basically the whole movie is about these people who go camping in the woods to discover this ape-like creature hunting them. After trying to escape, they get caught in the mix of something they were never meant to be in. They discover mutated people/animals, alien- like creatures, the same ape-like creature as before, etc. The whole area was basically an area for the military to do experiments and one of the creatures got out which caused all the others to escape as well. An obvious sign that they were in a military zone was the "Trespassing" sign they saw at the beginning and mocked the camera guy (Not good with names. Ryan i think) about his spelling.
All in all, it was an AWESOME movie. So far one of the best found footage B-movies I've seen.
