The Godfather: A Novel for Television (1977)
Please release on DVD or streaming-or both!
I no longer have a DVD player but will gladly purchase one to watch this epic! I recall watching it years ago and loving it. Wasn't it released onVHS? If yes, then why not DVD?
I don't mind watching these classic films in chronological order. I know some don't care for this but when you have watched GF1 & 2 as often as I have, it is enjoyable watching. The added footage is great too. (Especially Michael's revenge scene.) I now appreciate knowing that Mario Puzo had a hand in the writing and production.
After reading "The Family Corleone," the prequel to The Godfather, (If you are a GF/Mario Puzo fan, go get the audio book now! It is read by Bobby Canavale.) I would like to see this movie made and I don't care if it's 4 hours long!
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Paternity (2007)
This was pretty bad
Starting with 9.5 Hurt, which I could not finish to this episode...not good. I hope season 9 gets better.
These episodes are lame at best. I had to fast-forward through the previous 4 as I was so bored.
This one...what kind of idiot discusses a case where anyone, including the subject of the conversation can hear? That whole plot with the Mormon nanny turned bad girl and the mother boinking some dude for years and her husband doesn't know he's not the kid's father let alone that his wife is an adulterer? C'mon.
Now to Olivia taking Kathy do the doctor? What? Eliot couldn't go? Why? Because he is THE only cop who can arrest the non-daddy? No. If I was Kathy. I'd have said, "Olivia can go arrest that guy, you are going to the doctor with me. Period."
Now this crash. As mentioned by another, Olivia should know by now to NEVER move the head of a crash victim around like that. Head injury =assumed neck injury. Oh, and now Olivia, who is not a medic, gets an IV stick, on a dehydrated trauma victim
on the first try? Added bonus...let's do a video call in the middle of extracation. I call BS on this whole scene.
I'm gonna give Law and Order a rest for a day and hope the remaining episodes get better.
Taxi: Latka the Playboy (1981)
The genius of Andy Kaufman
It is nearly forty-three years after the initial airing of this episode and I feel it is one of the funniest. I was in junior high school when this show was on the air. I can remember the show and that it was funny but had no appreciation for the actors.
While Andy Kaufman's portrayal of Latka is funny, seeing Andy Kaufman literally transform into two different characters right before your eyes lets us see his comedic genius in action. It is sad to me that he didn't live past.thirty four years. I wish we could have seen more but I am grateful for the ability to rewatch these classic TV shows and gain a new appreciation for not only Andy Kaufman but the rest of the cast as well.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta (2008)
How much time did I waste watching this?
Utter rubbish. I cannot believe I wasted time watching these entitled, spoiled, selfish women who have no moral compass.
All of the "drama" is due to poor, shameful choices. I am almost (not quite) amused when these women are faced with the consequences of their childish behaviors. I suspect more than 75% of this "drama" is staged and mostly made up.
All these shows do is convince women that constantly griping, having no manners, no integrity or values is something they should try to emulate. I feel this is why I like the classics from the 30's through the 60's. When ladies dressed well, had manners and would not behave as these women do.
This is definitely not a show for anyone under 18.
It's Complicated (2009)
Terrible movie
If you have ever been cheated on, this movie should make you feel angry. Women like Meryl Streep's character piss me off. It is an insult to women that, given enough liquor, we will just toss our moral compass and self respect right out the window? The two main characters (Streep and Baldwin) act like two teenagers who cannot maintain enough self control to stop drinking or control their hormones. And what about poor Lake Bell's character who is really just a body? Because that really all we see of her character. Thanks feminism?
I didn't laugh one time during this "comedy." Further, I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.
Frasier: The Innkeepers (1995)
Was there a writer's strike?
Ugh! I dread sitcoms that play this card. I'm guessing the writers were on strike and everyone was at Kelsey Grammar's on a bender and came up with this very predictable, unfunny episode.
Cheers: Do Not Forsake Me, O' My Postman (1992)
Now THIS is Cheers!
The cold open! Andy Schroeder with explosives strapped on him looking for Diane! Excellent reactions.
Carla saying she would have paid for a vasectomy -or even performed it herself made me laugh. Woody's question of whether or not Cliff would marry Maggie because, "it would be a shame to have to stone her." 🤣 Such a great Woody comment!
"Lookin' for husband, provider, best friend, lover; Who's name is at the top of the list?" Classic Cliff.
John Mahoney as Sy Flembeck was fantastic. I also enjoy seeing Annie Golden and I'm a little sad things didn't work out for her and Cliff.
Cheers: An Old-Fashioned Wedding (1992)
I didn't even smile.
You know when an episode starts with an alleged Catholic relying on the occult, nothing good will come of it. This was just lowball, juvenile antics. From the fight with the caterers to trying to hide a dead body (Really? Normal human reaction would be to call for help in that situation.) to the German schifosa to the drunk, marriage averse uncle. I just skipped to the next episode.
Cheers: Bar Wars VI: This Time It's for Real (1992)
Yawn....
My least favorite episodes: Bar Wars. Boring. Of course a man with a last name that ends in a vowel is in an alleged "social club?" Save yourself 22 minutes and give this one a skip.
Cheers: Smotherly Love (1992)
Wow...awful.
I could barely make it through this episode. First, I find it difficult to understand how TWO psychiatrists cannot deal with an overbearing, rude, classless woman in a more healthy way. Second, the Norm storyline is not even remotely funny.
My Brother's Keeper (2020)
Very real issues
I like that this movies addresses PTSD and how debilitating it can be. I appreciated how the movie reinforces how we are all broken and dependent on God. The Donnie character is an excellent example of what can happen when we try to take care of things on our own.
The Iron Lady (2011)
I should have known better
As soon as I saw "Weinstein," I should have known this was gonna be garbage. Instead of focusing on Mrs. Thatcher career, it focused on her later, vulnerable years. So much opportunity to show history just flushed down the toilet.
The Chosen (2017)
One of the best!
I rarely review shows as most are not worth it. However, The Chosen is an amazing show and I want as many people as possible to know it. My granddaughters (6 & 7) loved season 1 and ask questions and talked about it all week.
Personally, I have been touched by the actors, the top notch production and the reminder of why I follow Jesus. I hope everyone watches this show at least once. Added bonus? It is free!!*
*I purchased season one because I love this show that much.
Wine Country (2019)
Disappointed...
With this cast, I expected this to make to laugh at least once. To clarify, I am the target demographic, but found this boring and just a way to attempt to drop f-bombs onto most sentences. Quite honestly, if I had friends like this? They wouldn't be my friends for long.
Alpha House (2013)
Hoping for season 3!!
I loved this show from episode one which is rare for me! I love the characters. Without spoilers, I cannot wait to see what happens with certain story lines! And the witty dialogue is fantastic.. John Goodman, Clark Johnson, Matt Malloy, & Mark Consuelo make a great ensemble! I also agree with other reviewers who make comparisons to VEEP, West Wing and Newsroom in the D.C./political arena but it is satire and everyone is fair game Democrats and Republicans.
If you are in anyway entertained by politics, DC, and cameos from IRL politicians and journalists, then give this show a try. C'mon, as Kevin Spacey, said, it's hard to make jokes about a town that Is one. This show does it well. Plus, it's an election year!
Total Riff Off (2014)
Happy Flashback
LOVED MST3K and this was good! I was transported back to Saturdays laughing until I cried at the witticisms of these guys.
I liked the disclaimer that they are having fun and not intending to hurt anyone's feelings. Side bar: Do I need to start injecting such disclaimers into my daily conversations? I was giggling within 5 minutes of the show beginning. That said, if you are overly sensitive and have zero sense of humor, do not watch this show. As yes, they definitely make fun of this guy. Not so exaggerated example: "The only way to determine if this shark is real, is to stick my hand into his mouth and see if he bites. Ahhhhh...he bit off half my hand!" The guys respond with, "You'll need more than a Snoopy band-aid for that."
Can't wait for more episodes!
