Getting worse and worse
21 October 2022
The first 3 movies are absolute treasures, but these new cash-ins lack all the underground gritty realism and engrossing segments.

The first 3 movies felt like you were watching some cursed or random snuff VHS that had been unearthed. These 90's installments feel like some kids decided to create their own little creepypasta style shots and it just falls flat and feels empty, the bad CGI doesn't help either. Some segments have decent story ideas but either bad acting, CGI, or dialogue ruin it.

Like '94 there's only one good segment, and the overarching shots between segments is bland. Still waiting for the series to get back to its original brilliance.

Slow Burn Done Wrong
17 March 2021
Not engaging, not scary, not creepy, and utterly senseless. Even the jump scares fail. If you're gonna make a movie with next to no dialogue or audible story, you better make it visually engaging and telling a story through cues - like Aster or Van Trier do so well (or hell, Oz Perkins). No attachment to or development of the characters, just overall blah. 4* because I didn't fall asleep and the effects are rather well done, but there's a lot better slow burners out there that can actually get under your skin without overused horror cliches.

Photoshop Smudge Tool Goes On Killing Spree
26 April 2020
The whole movie is a complete mess. The demon seriously just looks like someone pressed undo on red-eye reduction and went slap happy with Photoshop's smudge tool. Can't wait for the sequel: Spin the Bottle

Worthy Successor
10 February 2020
While the tone of the novel is more a drama with occasional horror elements, the ending was deeply satisfying. The movie held fairly true to the book until the end, taking that sucker punch oomph out and replacing it with, what I'm sure the execs assumed was "what the fans would want". If you expect this to be a fear-inducing sequel to a great horror movie, it is not, but it is a satisfying watch. The acting is great and the attention to detail of the old cast was amazingly well done.

Diarrhea Masterpiece
3 October 2019
Good: Lots of attention to the set designs, very Doomy, even though it didn't always look great. Some practical FX were decent. Some external CGI shots of the base and ship were pretty ok. Um... There were two, maybe three, capable actors that did a 'decent' job.

Bad: Literally everything else. This a groan-inducing train wreck of a movie that spits in the face of any Doom fan. The easter eggs were terrible. The lead actress was abysmal. The script and story were Sharknado worthy.

Avoid unless you're looking for a laughable film to heckle with friends
