Premutos - Der gefallene Engel (1997)
Gore at its best!
Even though the whole film was in German without English subtitles, that still didn't stop me from enjoying this gorefest. I personally think Olaf Ittenbach made this movie with the intentions of trying to top Peter Jackson's 'Braindead' in the gore category, but unfortunately, I still feel 'Braindead' is the King Of Gore Films. Nevertheless, 'Premutos' never fails to shock and awe with the gallons and gallons of gore, blood and guts that the zombies so desperately crave. Even though this film is very over-the-top at certain points; there's a scene where the main character is picking his nose at the dinner table and flicks his booger off of his finger and it accidentally shoots down some dinner guest's throat - very reminiscent of the dinner scene during 'Braindead' where mum squeezes the pus and blood from her bite into the dinner guest's creamy custard. Whatever the case, 'Premutos' is definitely a movie of its time and could quite possibly be the 2nd goriest film of all time. Don't worry Peter Jackson, 'Braindead' is still undefeated when it comes to gore.
Violent Shit II (1992)
Is this movie legal?
Well, after watching the first 'Violent Shit' film, I couldn't help myself but watch the sequel because I couldn't comprehend how this movie could get much sicker than its predecessor. The plot is along the same lines as the first 'Violent Shit' except that the infamous Karl "The Butcher" who is slayed in the first 'Violent Shit' leaves behind his son Karl "The Butcher" Jr. to take over...with the help of his sick, twisted and perverted mother. Mommy dearest gives orders to Karl "The Butcher" Jr. and he listens, even if it's "motherly affection." This movie is one of the most disturbing and perverted movies I've ever seen as I thought nothing could top the first 'Violent Shit'. There is more of the same style slaughtering and torture in this film but with a sick twist on a relationship between a mother and son. If you're into shock value - or lots and lots of blood and guts - this film could make as the perfect Christmas present for you.
Violent Shit (1989)
What the hell did I just watch??
After seeing the title of this movie a man can't help but be a little intrigued, so I picked it up. Wow, and is that saying right..."curiosity kills the cat" and it nearly killed me. This is by far one of the most sick and twisted movies I've ever laid eyes on. The movie is about the Karl "The Butcher," an unrelenting mass murderer who shows no mercy to his victims. Judging by the title, you can imagine some of the things he does to his victims...no nevermind, you can't because a sane person in their right mind wouldn't think of the sick ways to kill a person. 'Violent Shit' is filled with dismemberments, disembowelings, castrations, and even feces eating and it's some of the most sickening stuff I've ever seen. If you're into extremely low-budget (this movie is shot with a camcorder) and torture films, this pointless gorefest is the movie for you! Otherwise, if you're easily offended, avoid at all costs or else you will die of a heart attack after the first 10 seconds of the film.
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970)
A strange one...
Although recognized as one of the oddest movies to come out of the '70s, this cult classic never fails to amuse. This is the tragic story of a group of friends/rock band who get a first-hand gritty look at the world of stardom, Hollywood, and entertainment once they become famous. It's a world of drugs, sex, blackmail, violence, and creeps. Some of the hottest Playboy playmates of the '60s starred in this film (e.g., Cynthia Myers) and it serves as one of the harsher "reality check" films during its time. Relationships fall apart, people turn on one another, friends get caught up in sex and drugs, and people become fake groupies...towards the conclusion, it all adds up to one of the weirdest endings I've ever seen. Check this one out...it's a classic (and make sure it's rated NC-17 to see it uncut).
Braindead (1992)
Left me BRAINDEAD...
I know you've heard it a million and one times, but I can't stress enough that this movie is BY FAR one of the bloodiest and goriest movies EVER MADE! Never have I seen a movie so bloody, gory, repulsive, twisted, bizarre, cracked-out, intense, unrelenting, ruthless, disturbing and disgusting in all of my life - and believe me, I've seen a TON of weirdo movies. 'Braindead' does everything in its power to gross out its audience in one way or another and it gets the job done. Whether it's the gross-out perverted humor, the extreme graphic violence and gore, or the cheesy acting, this movie continues to pound and pound on your stomach until you've had enough...the only problem is...I haven't. The worst thing about this movie is that it ended...it's without a shadow of a doubt a horror masterpiece (even if it isn't that scary at all). I love the eerie feel of the movie, the intensity, the outrageousness of the many situations the characters get themselves into, and also the in-your-face camerawork of the film. Never have I seen a more creative, artsy, innovative, novel approach to zombie movies (not to mention gory). While the acting may be very cheesy and the budget not up to par with box-office smashes, don't be so quick to judge - if you do, you will miss out on experiencing the most genuinely cracked-out film (and most bizarre ending) ever filmed in the history of movie making. AVOID THE HEDGECLIPPED R-RATED VERSION AT ALL COSTS!!! If you must, rent the 97 minute UNRATED 'Dead Alive' even though my review refers to the original COMPLETELY UNCUT 104 minute 'Braindead'.
Zombie '90: Extreme Pestilence (1991)
Extreme PISStilence...
Wow, not only is this film a "new lesson in real bad taste," but also a lesson in "real bad film making." Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the concept of 'Zombie '90: Extreme Pestilence,' but at the same time one must realize when a movie is terrible. In case you missed out on the storyline, the plot of 'Zombie '90' is about a government plane carrying toxic chemicals that so happens to crash into the wilderness, causing the chemicals to spill, turning locals into hideous looking zombies. The next thing you know, zombies are all over the city eating people alive, while a goofy-looking doctor and a government agent are trying to figure out the disease that's making these people eat one another - hence the name "Extreme Pestilence." From then on, all we see is zombies having a field day on every local in sight - nothing but extreme and sickening disembowelments and dismemberments accompanied by endless buckets of guts and gore. Since this is a German film, the film had to be dubbed into English and when you're not laughing at the feeding frenzies of the zombies, the voice-overs are quite hilarious and entertaining as well. As user UnratedX mentioned *SPOILER* *SPOILER* *SPOILER*, there is a scene in the film that crosses the line between what's acceptable and not acceptable, hence the scene in which a woman, who is carrying her infant baby, is being wheeled around in her wheelchair by some dude and a horde of zombies come out of nowhere and attack them. One zombie grabs the baby and rips it into pieces, eating its organs as you hear the baby crying. Wow, that is a new lesson in REALLLLLLLLLY bad taste. Atrocious I tell you, atrocious.
