Game Changer (2019)
Horrible
What is it with these "improv" shows that make them get roaring reviews?
I don't get it.
It's obviously scripted, and even then the jokes fall flat, and the show host is annoying to no end.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Not every hacker is as nuts as your average screenwriter
To the credit of the writers of the show, it's nice to finally see something that actually sort of rings true from a technological point of view. The tools the characters use, the dialogues concerning the hacking, it all isn't annoying if you are in the business yourself. Obviously they made mistakes here and there and took the liberty to add BS stuff for dramatization, but I found it refreshing to see they actually made the effort to display hacking in a way that remotely resembles the actual act of hacking.
That being said it's such a shame that they didn't took the effort into looking into the real people that are attracted by the type of work that hacking brings with it. Somewhere along the 3rd and 4th episode everybody involved appears to be suffering from borderline personality disorder, having some dark secret or perverted sexual preferences or all of the above.
After hiring hackers for more than 15 years I can say with some confidence that this isn't representative for the hacker community as a whole. I think these characters tell you more about the guild of screenwriters than anything else.
Johan Cruijff - En un momento dado (2004)
Strong documentary also suited for non-soccer fans
This strong movie features Catalan people talking about how Johan Cruijff changed their lives. The movie shows in a humorous way the importance of Johan Cruijff for the Catalonian identity, after being supressed by the Franco regime. The people interviewed tell about their personal Johan Cruijff moment and this gives us some hilarious moments. One to remember is the journalist that tells us how Johan influenced the spanish language by translating sayings from his native language (Dutch) directly into Spanish. Off course there is some beautiful footage of Cruijff as a player and as a coach at FC Barcelona, but the Catalan people play the central role in this movie. This makes it perfectly suited for non-soccer fans.
