Hellraiser (2022)
The best thing you can get after "Hellraiser 2 Hellbound"
Hellraiser 1 - 5 are pretty good movies in that ranking.
This one gets the whole idea right and can be seen as reimagined Hellraiser 1 and 2 and it is as good as any of those first two, but with a fresh take.
Jamie Clayton really shows that she is worthy to play such an iconic role as Pinhead and also Odessa A'zion as Riley, the lead, is good aswell.
The new design of the Cenobites is spot on, all skin, well the leather was skin aswell i guess..
Their gifts and explorations are a feast for the gore loving eye.
Also the new purpose of the lament configuration is a welcome one.
I really hope they keep going with this, they have such sights to show you.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: A Shadow of the Past (2022)
It looks expensive
The visuals are very nice, but that is all good i can say.
Story is boring, characters are unlikeable and the dialogue is really bad.
I was zero invested in anything and this is supposed to be the pilot of a series, i surely won't continue watching.
I guarantee that this won't last the promised 5 seasons, i can't see many people liking this and it already shows.
My girlfriend fell asleep while watching and she is a lord of the rings fan.
It tries also very hard to be like "game of thrones" yet it fails completely in doing so.
So much money wasted and i feel bad for the actors.
They are already deleting reviews and covering up that this series is a huge fail.
I started "The Boys" instead.
Thanks but no thanks, i am out.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Sadly it can't get any better after this movie
This is how you should treat characters from older movies in the same franchise, they actually have meaning and are involved in the plot, not just cheap cameos.
All the actors are at their best, Tom Holland and Zendaya have great chemistry and i really believed how they acted and reacted off each other, all of them did so good but Willem Dafoe stole the show.
And now if you want the full MCU experience, you have to watch 5 more movies.
Sadly it can't get any better after this movie, at least i don't see how, but i will watch them.
Also Tom Holland made this movie even possible, since he helped with the negotiations between Sony and Disney.
Sherlock (2010)
Not bad and not that good
Some episodes are well done, others are just meh.
90 minutes runtime feels too long per episode, the episodes aren't good enough for such long runtime, it is just dragging.
Started good and ended not bad, inbetween it's just meh.
Maybe good to watch just 1 time.
Unhinged (2020)
Starts strong, ends weak
After the first half the movie went a bit overboard and they kind of forced the happy ending.
Also that Fortnite reference will let that movie be dated fast.
Has some good stuff in it, but it could have been so much better.
Not gonna say i regret watching it, 6 out of 10 is not bad, but not good either.
Falling down did it way better.
Batman Ninja (2018)
Beautiful japanese reinterpretation of Batman
It is exactly what it sounds like, an anime version of batman set in ancient japan.
It is fun, gorgeous and without any direction.
As for a japanese reinterpretation, you have to watch this with the mind as open as possible.
The plot is insane and so much fun to watch.
So don't expect a dark tale of batman, almost all the time the story is set during the day.
This movie is not for everybody, it will work for some and not for others, so watch it yourself and while doing so, tune in the original japanese audio, with subtitles, because any other audio is just awful as expected.
Tales from the Crypt: The Man Who Was Death (1989)
Press start
A story about a modern-day executioner who is obsessed with people getting killed by electricity.
You follow this guy while he is narrating his own story and breaking the 4th wall while doing so.
Great 1st episode of an awesome series.
Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999)
I wish there would be more
If you're a fan of the 1st movie, then you have to see this one, since it's the best wishmaster sequel you can get. Andrew Divoff is such a joy to watch, he delivers his lines perfectly and he really lives his role. Sure it has stupid plot holes and it has it's goofy moments, also the effects are not the best, but that doesn't make it a bad movie.
I just hate the other "good" main characters, i only got my fun out of watching "the wishmaster" doing his magical wonders and his eloquent speaking.
If you like a movie with a charismatic bad guy and if you enjoyed the 1st movie, then i would definitely say "give it a watch!", since it's the last time you see Andrew Divoff performing as the master of wishes.
5 Stars -> average horror movie
+ 1 Star : if you're a fan of the first "Wishmaster"
+ 1 Star : for Divoff's awesome performance
just skip Wishmaster 3 and 4, even as a fan of the series i wouldn't recommend these.
