Kald mig far (2024)
Emil is to good for this world
'Call me dad' is a really fun serie about a sub-assertive guy trying to make a little difference in the world while running a catering business with his best friend. I recognized the leadactor from his role in Vikings, and the contrast with this role as a people pleaser is kind of hilarious,.
The story is honestly very funny. The cast is great, making the ridiculous twists in the story kind of believable. The serie is nicely shot. Episodes are short and amount of episodes is just good for telling the story. The humour is maybe a bit typical Scandinavian, which is in my opinion the best kind. I also loved the plot of the last episode.
The Black Demon (2023)
Quite a solid shark movie
Usually shark movies tend to be a little ridiculous, the black demon is not an exception in this case. Little bit cheesy story, CGI shark, but the movie was honestly very entertaining. Sounddepartment did a good job, the setting of the movie was kinda original, the cast was fitting and performed pretty well. The story is a little bit silly (as should be) but not boring which is very often the case in other sharkmovies. Extra plus: the movie does not contain forced unlikeable characters in the cast.
Just have realistic expectations and it's a fun movie. Don't trust the low rating, i have seen pretty much all sharkmovies and this was quite a good one.
Stowaway (2021)
Excellent drama in space
I always feel a bit sceptical about sci-fi movies, lacking believable characters and drama. But i honestly liked this movie. It was all very balanced, building up tension with realistic drama. Cast performed very well, good dynamics between characters. The story was moving and exciting with beautiful visuals and excellent cgi.
Anne+ (2021)
please keep this a tv show
Absolute terrible movie based upon an average but enjoyable tv serie.
The first half of the movie is a forced internal educational dialogue, about finding yourself, being free with your sexuality, gender identity bla bla like this has ever been an issue in the Netherlands. The movie introduce (force) a new non-binary person in the world of Anne+. The sexscenes and nudity are very random and cannot save the terrible script. None of the characters are likable or believable, there is no plot, a waste of time.
Swallow (2019)
Unexpected small masterpiece
The summary caught my interest, i did not have to much expectations, but this movie is a small masterpiece, visually appealing and the script is excellent. Haley Bennett perfectly fitted this role, it's imposible not to sympethise with her character.
I would say this is sort of a drama arthouse movie. So don't expect any horror or thriller vibe. Although still exciting, with many uncomfortables scenes, this movie is far away from boring. I should also mention the sound/music was fitting very well in this movie.
Martyrs (2015)
Awesome remake, do not trust bad reviews
I really loved the original movie, and expected a soft American version with this remake. But it's not, it's very well executed. I do have to say it has been at least 5 years ago since i seen the original, and i do recommend not watching them after one other in a short amount of time. Luci of course reminded me all the time of her character in pretty little liars, but that didn't really bug me, in fact it suited her well because both characters are full of conspiracy theories. The movies kept my interest and surprised me with some twists. Over all the acting was done very well, it has been at least as painful to watch as the original.(in a good way) It deserves a way better rating then it has now!!
Knock Knock (2015)
Not bad at all, very entertaining
Seriously watch the trailer, if you like the trailer and somehow are disappointed in this movie, your expectations went retard. It's a movie about two girls with daddy-issues blackmailing a father and husband. I love the way the whole situation escalates kind of like in the movie 'Funny games'.
If you're into these kind of movies "knock knock" is an instant watch. The movie is well acted and the script was not quite predictable as i expected. The movie does not serve any answers for what motivates the 2 girls doing the things they do. This makes this movie less dramatic and serious, and that fits the movie well.
Supernova (2014)
worth the watch
I watched this movie in an entirely empty theater, my girlfriend really wanted to see this movie, so we went. my first impression was that the movie had quite an hard voice-over during every scene, this bothered me a lot during the first 20 minutes, but as the story evolved the movie became very entertaining to watch, and the voice-over was lesser a problem. The main character is a teenage girl whom lives with her parents in a house in the corner of a street. Her life is quite isolated and boring, she only has one friend and is curious about other people especially males. The film is beautifully shot, visually worth watching. The script/dialogs and acting only turns out better during the movie. If you're about to watch this movie, keep in mind to be patient the first 30 minutes.
Boyhood (2014)
Story of a boy whom later turns into a spoiled teenager
I have seen this movie in cinema and luckily for me they had a break because it's a long movie.
It's a story of a boy named Mason whom later turns into a spoiled teenager. The first part of the movie (the part when they where younger) was much more interesting than the last part, The last half hour was almost painful to watch, when Mason discovers his talent for photography. His character developed into a 'creative deep thinking' guy which did not suited him.
The movie is well acted and it contains a detailed storyline, I sure admire the dedication to make a movie that took 12 years to finish.
Midnight in Paris (2011)
boring as midnight in Paris
my girlfriend fell asleep while watching this movie, and i regret i didn't. It took about 45 minutes before i give up. The movie is categorized as romantic comedy, and it's definitely not funny in any way.
After every meeting with a famous writer or painter in the 'midnight' Owen Wilson embraces this character by saying it's name several times. This namedropping of 'famous' writers (who i never knew until this movie) becomes really irritating after a while. Also the pseudo-intellectual conversations about art are painful to watch.
The concept of the movie is not bad, the acting is also not bad. In my opinion the dialogues are to boring and obvious to keep the movie interesting. And i miss humor!
