Animal Kingdom (2016)
Sensational
This show is so well made and cast it's insane. The acting is incredible. What's so impressive about this show is the Characters are so consistent from the 1st to the 6th season they have the same feel throughout and the growth of the characters through the seasons is so spot on it makes everything feel so believable.
Who ever cast the younger versions of the Cody family deserve a medal! Young Popes movements, mannerisms and looks match Pope so perfectly it blows me away.
This show also touches on so many issues in such a different and smooth way none of it feels forced it just feels real and believable.
Top Show.
The Vampire Diaries (2009)
Great Characters great show
Probably the first ever book to show adaptation I've watched where the show was better the books. I was late on the TVD bandwagon because I couldn't even get through the books they were so boring but imagine my surprise when the show was the complete opposite. I loved all the characters and casting was great! The characters are really what make this show so enjoyable. There was so much chemistry in all the relationships and friendships I really felt it.
SPOILERS!
The biggest fail of this show was Caroline and Klaus not ending up together.
Not to mention Bonnie and Damon having so much chemistry during and after the prison world.
And we all needed more Kai Parker.
I'm not really a fan of how it all ended but still a show I can watch repeatedly.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)
Disappointing but still enjoyable
As a huge fan of the books I had hoped this movie would be great. But unfortunately it fell short.
The casting was really hit and miss. Clary, Simon and Magnus where cast perfect and Jace was somewhere in the middle, his charisma and charm were there so I felt Jace but didn't see Jace. Isabelle, Alec and Valentine just weren't as I imagined and the characters didn't translate from book to screen.
Book comparisons aside what disappointed me the most was the low budget feel of the movie, It had so much potential but failed to connect. That said I still enjoyed seeing the characters from my favourite book brought to life and have watched it more than once.
Vampire Academy (2014)
Disappointing but enjoyable
I had high hopes as it's one of my favourite book series but unfortunately it fell short. It had so much potential to be a great 'Hunger Games' like production but instead had a low budget feel. Even though the B grade feel was disappointing it was still enjoyable and closely aligned with the book.
The casting was all on point except for Dimitri. The movie Dimitri looked too old and was slightly creepy, he didn't have the book versions looks or personality and I didn't feel the chemistry between him and Rose which was probably the most disappointing part. Rose, Lissa and Christian's relationships were spot on and Mason couldn't have been casted better.
All in all I enjoyed it I just wish it had a higher budget feel.
Vampire Academy (2022)
A painful watch
Besides the story line being completely changed from the book (unnecessarily) the show is B grade at best. If you are a fan of the books you will be more than disappointed as it's not just the story they changed but the vibe and personalities of characters.
I've watched many other shows and movies adapted from beloved books that even when the story line was changed (Eg. I am number 4, true blood, Vampire Diaries ect) it still manages to be a decent and engaging watch, this on the other hand was painful, boring and hard to sit through.
Even detaching myself and putting the disappointing book differences aside its still all over a lame and low budget production.
I can't decide if I'm more sad or angry!
