Mr. Corman (2021)
I tried very hard, but gave up
Tried very hard to watch the first three episodes.
I stuck with it.
I gave up waiting for the point to the whole thing to be revealed.
The only thing I understood was that he does not want to die alone. OK got it. But everything else in the series does not seem to support that line of development.
Other than JGL, the remaining actors seem to be zombies, dialing in their performances.
Being a JGL fan, I am disappointed, to say the least.
What I wonder is how the series made it into development at all. Don't they have focus groups to judge whether there may be problems with a series?
Too bad really, a waste.
Kajillionaire (2020)
Can't rate it minus 10 so giving it a 1
How does a movie like this even get made in the first place? Doesn't somebody with common sense step in and say "guys, we're making a complete PoS"?
The characters are absolutely unlikeable and unrelatable.
Land (2021)
Survival in the wild and the beauty and pride of the Native American culture
Of all the movies I have watched recently, I can easily say this was the best. Robin Wright's acting here is top shelf. We understand early in the movie that Edee (Robin's character) has lost her family, but it's not revealed how until the very end of the film. As the viewer, you accompany her in her struggle to hold on to life. One would expect such a movie to be depressing, but it's not. It shows the difficulties of surviving in the wild, and friendships that can be formed between strangers. I especially liked Demian Bichir's portrayal of Miguel. (I hope to see more of his films from now on.) If you are fascinated like I am about Native American culture, you'll love this film.
I sincerely hope Robin Wright directs more films.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: Eddie Murphy: I Just Wanted To Kill (2019)
A great episode
Jerry and Eddie talk about old days, and it is thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Jerry Seinfeld.
Enemy (2013)
Don't be fooled by the star names in the cast
I thought that a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and Isabella Rossellini, would be at least decent. I was so wrong.
The story is very slow moving and very confusing. Each scene is endlessly long without much happening.
Dialog can't be understood. I had to listen several times to what Mélanie Laurent was saying, and still couldn't make it out.
Don't waste your time/money.
Turist (2014)
No way this movie warrants a 7 rating.
I gave this movie a 1, although it is difficult to call it a movie. It shows a family skiing. That's it. Just skiing, sleeping in a hotel room, talking. There are English subtitles in the version I watched.
There is no plot.
There is no point to the movie.
Nothing happens.
How it got to a 7 rating, is a mystery to me.
Don't waste your time/money.
Joe Gould's Secret (2000)
Gould is an annoying and irritating character
Joe Gould comes across as an annoying and irritating character.
Unfortunately, the character has no warmth to it. Instead, it grates on the viewer.
The movie started OK, but as the Gould character came into itself, its shenanigans became too much to bear. The incessant bickering, the tantrums, the mood swings were just too much. At one point, the character was vandalizing a phone booth, and it was just not believable that the barkeeper did not kick his ass out of the establishment.
Also highly irritating is the fake accent employed by Stanley Tucci for his Mitchell character. For some reason, it just doesn't work.
All in all, I pretty much hated this movie, and could not wait for it to end. Some movies are not great, but are serviceable. After about 15 minutes, the Gould character makes this movie completely unwatchable.
