I truly enjoyed this movie
5 November 2023
If you are reading this review before you watch the movie, I recommend you stop. Watch the movie without any preconceived notions and you may enjoy it so much better.

This is a movie I wish I had watched without reading other reviews first. As I watched the movie with the negative reviews in my mind, it took me a bit to put them aside to give the movie a chance. Once I was able to do that, I really enjoyed it.

It was a movie that made you ask yourself what would you do if it were possible and you were in the position to make such a decision. While at first, it may have seemed like things went totally wrong, but as the movie went on, I think things happened the way they should have.

I loved the character of Ngoc Lan Tran and really felt that she made the movie.

I probably would have given it an even higher rating if some parts had been expanded on and explained a little more.

One of the best movies ever!

I absolutely love everything about this movie. The actors are fantastic and some of my favorites. It is a beautiful story with some sad parts, which aren't surprising considering the historical setting.

When I first watched the movie, I think the strange title was what attracted me. I had never heard of Guernsey so I did some research. I really hope to visit one day.

The book is also fantastic and I highly recommend it.

I watch this movie anytime I want to relax and take myself to another place and time and I am always sad when it ends. Like I am saying goodbye forever to a wonderful friend.

Much better the second time
10 September 2022
The first time I watched this movie, half the time I was questioning myself as to why I was wasting time but the other half I was laughing really hard. The second time I watched was with my husband who thought it was hilarious. It was even better the second time when I knew what was going to happen. My husband described it as dorky funny and I had to agree. I don't normally like or enjoy dorky comedy, but this one grew on me. I think my favorite scene was at the theatre (bread). Some great actors, some good, and some mediocre. Some very awkward scenes and it was a little drawn out. But overall, I laughed a lot and would watch it a third time...maybe in a year or two.
