The L Word: Generation Q: Questions for the Universe (2022)
WHYYYYY did they make a nonsense musical episode????????
Actually impressive how they somehow managed to make Dana look like cgi? They bring that beloved character back and they do her like that? What the actual ****?? Whoever did her make up must have either had a day or someone in post wanted to get fired because it looked like an ai from 10 years ago.
Making the token musical episode, like many other modern shows, is just sad. Oh so sad. There was no weight or credability to it. It was all like some plastic Alice made up cliche scenarios. And the old sitcom bit, Wandavision much? There was no reason to put any of it in the show.
Yikes yikes and yikes.
Severance (2022)
JFC
Holy hell. This is sci-fi at its best. It's like a spin-off esque off of "eternal sunshine of a spotless mind" styled them of "what id we could choose inbetween or remove certain memories?".
Severance is dystopia dressed as desperation. At times I found myself laughing at how well done this was made. Other times not knowing wether to laugh or cry. Just finished watching it after not being able to stop. I just wanted more. The escalation and crescendo was 10/10.
From experience with dissociation and derealisation/ depersonalisation this show truly dabbles in the nowhere land that is dissociation.
This is without a doubt on of the best shows I've seen. Not sure if there'll come another season or not, but if it does I hope they don't change directors/writers.
Thoroughly enjoyed every second watching it.
The Next Thing You Eat (2021)
David Chang continuing to become more aware and concious about the impact of climate change on the food industry and everything we know about it.
The show brings up the heavy subjects of our soon to be reality where meat, fish and dairy-industries have become too unsustainable and too little to feed the very fast population of humans on this world.
It's just too bad the makers of the show continue to make excuses to continue their own contribution to the habits of eating meat as an example.
You might hope they would start to actually implement these changes we all need to do in our daily life. Especially being restaurant owners and influencers on how and what to eat.
I really like David Chang, in this series you also see him confronting the issue of climate change head on. Which is interesting and good. And I guess you also see the human psyche trying to cope with it. The anxiety that comes along with it. It just would've been nice to see him actually go "Ok thats it, I'm using lab fish. No more ocean fishing." when they try it and actually say "99,9% of th people would never know the difference when they ate it".
Good series overall I just wish it'd actually make them take that extra step we all rather soon have to take.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
Can't even find words
Didn't think i was possible for me to see something this relateable. It is hilarious, insanely tragic, gets just so real and it is incredible.
Thanks Bo.
Dear White People (2017)
9 out of 10 reviews here: White people getting offended by not being able to accept or look at their own privilage.
This is just rediculous. Watch the show and open up for, to you, new perspectives on issues that exist in todays society. Yes the show deals with existing stereotypes of both white people and POC. That does not make the issues unreal.
Good god people get a grip..
Ängelby (2015)
Incredibly poorly made
Sure the CGI is surprisingly good but the rest of it is catastrophic. They tried really hard and it was all for basically nothing.
Instead of actually making it a thrillering mystery they describe everything that is happening for you. Leaving pretty much zero mystery or thriller left.
The ending is such an anti-climax. Like another review read, it feels like a couple of "edgy" teenagers wrote this. Also directed it. And cut the whole thing.
Sorry..
