Shetland: Episode #8.1 (2023)
SEASON 8 UPHEAVAL
I love Shetland. I totally expected Season 8 to suffer without Doug Henshall's "Jimmy Perez". He role he assumed was the heart of the show, or so it seemed. But, Alison O'Donnell's "Tosh" has completely and utterly stepped up to the plate and made this show her own. Ashley Jensen's "DI Ruth Calder" character is simply a wonderful, added bonus who makes every role she plays worth watching. Who doesn't love her? Sandy and Billy are definitely top notch, keeping their characters strong. Everyone has definitely brought their A game. Kudos to all involved. Can't wait for Season 9!! Please say it's in the works!!
Vienna Blood (2019)
Does it get any better than this?
I love Victorian period dramas, and this series does not disappoint. The dynamics between the 2 main characters may, at times, be amusing. But, during tense moments, their true friendship and purpose shines through. I seriously could not get enough. Will it help to beg for Season 3?
Doc Martin (2004)
No Continuum
I started Doc Martin by watching the prequels. I loved them. Now I'm having to adjust to a complete personality overhaul in the regular series. Who would do that? Who would totally not stick to a continuity in characters? Very odd, to say the least.
Waking the Dead: Waterloo: Part 2 (2011)
One of the best!
As an American totally in love with British crime dramas, I found this series to be one of the best yet that I've watched. Peter Boyd (Trevor Eve) and his team made this series come to life. I literally wanted to cry when I finished the series. A big kudos to the powers that be for giving the last episode closure, unlike the endings of some episodes. I love this cast. I'd watch them forever.
