Promising Young Woman (2020)
Solid film that suits Netflix
Cinematography was excellent, Carey Mulligan was phenomenal throughout,
soundtrack was nicely crafted and the final 30 minutes really picked up the rather slow first hour. I could see this being suited for Netflix instead of a theater film.

Considering the fact it cost Cassie her life in order to get revenge, which most likely won't even result in Al getting life behind bars is a slightly disappointing fact.
Despite that, I enjoyed the film and the story was engaging.
All in all with this performance Carey will be nominated for best actress alongside Frances McDormand and Viola Davis.
Hope she gets the oscar! Go Carey!
Kidding (2018)
'Optimism, Grief, Death, Making an effort' Jim Carrey 'Kidding'
Jim Carrey plays father Jeff or 'Mr.Pickles' as his alter-ego 'kids friendly' character that is a multi-million dollar brand on kids television.
Jim's performance is outstanding as are the supporting cast with the likes of Catherine Keener, Judy Greer, and Frank Langella.
Screenplay is nice and crisp and the cinematography correlates beautifully with the characters emotion's in dealing with the aftermath of a tragic event that we see unfold.
One of Jim's best pieces of work with sophistication since 'Eternal Sunshine'.
Looking forward to more of the show. (Showtime delivering the goods, woohoo.)
Magic. 10 stars.
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
* You Movie
Average, big fan of Daniel Brühl's work and even he couldn't save this messy sci-fi film that turned into some sort of Final Destination.
The visuals are impressive and the only reason I stuck this movie out 'til the end.
Though I cared very little for the characters or what happened to them,
for a movie in space I didn't expect a spectacle but at least some tension would have sufficed. In end it was quite anti-climatic of a space cliché.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw retained a strong performance as Hamilton.
Was looking more forward to seeing more of Michael's POV of the unfolding event as a fan of Cloverfield (2008) but instead we're left with a Godzilla-esque tease of the monster and a bunch of dialogue attempting to fix the space craft as the team encounters an unholy dimension.
I wanted to enjoy it as I love Sci-fi movies especially in space.. but.. yeah.
Oh and the ending..
As Cinema Sins would say, "F### YOU MOVIE!"
5/10
Newness (2017)
For Anton
There doesn't seem to be any moments that show a real connection between them that would solidify a base foundation for the infidelities and emotional insecurities that threaten their relationship. This, in turn, makes the film feel a bit trepidatious in making its ultimate point. All this can be rationalized as "real life," but the longer the film plays and the further each emotionally drift from each other, it feels like we want to see these characters fight to be with each other rather than let personally manufactured insecurities let the story peter out.
Yet for these few dips, Newness sees Doremus further developing his directorial storytelling abilities while also showing what he can do better than most of his peers - tell a romantic story that feels so electric, alive, and which captures modern love in all of its beautiful and messy form. Newness is dedicated to the late Anton Yelchin, star of Doremus' Like Crazy, simply put: "To Anton, Into the Jungle."
The Mist (2017)
Made me laugh
I went into this with neutral hopes having never seen the movie adaptation but, my oh my what a pile of forced garbage this is.
Only one episode in and I have no motivation to continue watching.. characters are completely bland, the acting is below average, the petty teen drama trying to coincide with a gory, bug infested, zombie inducing? mist monster just fails to connect with me on any level, and I love all those things on the latter!
Long story short The Mist is a lazily written, messy half arsed attempt at a Netflix Original and a 1 star is being generous.
@Scene with the *typical b#tch of a mum* having her mouth ripped off made me chuckle HARD, oh my god I mean, its trying so hard. /end
Candy (2006)
Hauntingly powerful outlook on life as a drug addict
This is my first review on a movie here, and I'll tell you why..
Candy was a movie I struggled to watch at times, not because of the pacing, but because Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish brought an uncanny dimension of realism to create this story of two drug addicts that live for each other and the conflicting addiction that fuels their abusive relationship.
There was a particular hospital scene that had me straining in my chair.. the performance by these two is hard to put in words. Just a truly phenomenal screen presence.
Far from a light-hearted film I recommend this to anyone who wants to confront the reality of drug use and the repercussions they have on your life and those around you.
Haunting and just belligerent at its core. Cinema perfected.
