Three Wise Men and a Baby (2022)
Only Three Extras Would Make it Excellent!
Great little movie that I ignored for a while because I thought it would be formulaic and silly. In reality, it is a charming, fun movie with a new and different plot line that was engaging. Great to see Margaret Colin again and she was perfect in her role. Paul Campbell, Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes are fun together and their personalities mesh. Only three things would make this better, based on their natural chemistry with the stars:
Nikki DeLoach (Walker)
Kimberley Sustad (Campbell)
Bethany Joy Lenz (Hynes)
Sustad,is in the movie as a cameo and helped write the screenplay, but an expanded role with Campbell as his love interest would be a home run.
Adding these actresses would make this a Hallmark Star Movie which could become a series of movies if done right!
Enjoy!
This Is Christmas (2022)
What an Adorable Movie
Heartwarming characters with real 'stories'. 'This
is Christmas' is interesting with very good writing and characters. I agree with the reviewer who wrote that it has a 'Love Actually' feel to it. Of course, the Christmas theme and backdrop made it festive, but the story of a group of regular passengers on a commuter train who barely acknowledge each other's presence is worth the watch.
Prompted to get to know each other by an impulsive act of kindness by one of them, we get to slowly learn more about their lives and loves.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Wish they would make a sequel so we can follow this disparate group to their next Christmas!
Absentia (2017)
Tried to like it...but what a mess
I tried to watch this and like it but what a mess it is. With quality shows like Bosch and Sneaky Pete, this is a poor option. And Amazon cancelled Sneaky Pete - should have redirected the money from Absentia to it instead.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
The Worst, Most Miserable, Absurd Charade
Wish I could give it a negative rating.
Trust me that the reviews on this board, some of which are hilarious, are more entertaining than this drivel. Most of them have already captured the supporting information that this is NOT Star Trek: the darkness, complete disregard for Gene Roddenberry's vision, the horrible destruction of the Picard character; the foul language, beloved characters killed off, the overfocus on women heroes, the crassness, the notion that these characters haven't kept up with each other.
I'm amazed to see Admiral Picard cowering, with little to no leadership or command skills left, allowing a crass, undisciplined character to call him, "JL (if I cared enough to finish this, I'd say STOP, STOP). He has no energy, is disrespected at Star Fleet and talked down to by the other characters, and accepts that behavior. In this universe, even some strange Will calls him 'arrogant' and tells him he is not up to the challenge. And weird Deanna tells him, 'You had it coming'. Horrible.
To revisit Hugh, which is such a wonderful character, and kill him.
Why couldn't we just enjoy revisiting the positive Star Trek world, our beloved characters and see their legacy honored, not destroyed?
And is it lost on anyone that Hugh doesn't even mention Geordi?????
Complete absurdity.
One Small Hitch (2013)
Entertaining and fun
Really entertaining for the movie it is. The family members are fun and the two leads are enjoyable and have quite a bit of chemistry.
Great afternoon movie you'll enjoy. The story has enough sweet moments and funny ones, as well, to keep you smiling.
Noel (2004)
Sweet, kind movie for Christmas
It never ceases to amaze me that professional critics bash movies like this one. This is a sweet, endearing movie devoid of cynicism and sarcasm - traits that appear to be necessary for a positive critical review. Don't be fooled by the reviews you see. Watch this movie for yourself.
If you want a heartwarming story, well-acted and poignant, Noel will not disappoint. Because Christmas, in reality, can be a lonely time for some, this movie portrays the 'imperfect' side to the holiday. While the stories intertwine, we witness the struggles and loneliness of these characters, each dealing with different, but very real, sadness.
The love and joy that still is present in this lovely story make this an enjoyable movie, well-worth your time if you want to be uplifted and inspired.
Holiday Engagement (2011)
Great Movie - Great Chemistry and Performances
Jim Fall has created a winner with Holiday Engagement. From the casting to the story to the chemistry of the leads and the cast, this is a great holiday movie. The cast does a great job and both Bonnie Sommerville and Jordan Bridges have a connection that is warm and comfortable. Jim Fall's nuanced use of music and creativity in some of the scenes and story line are really exceptional and the dialogue is interesting. Wish we could see more of his films. This movie quickly became a holiday favorite for us. Naturally, these movies aren't designed for in-depth analysis of plots so those reviewers who have commented on those aspects appear to have unrealistic expectations.
Watch Holiday Engagement for what it is. A sweet, charming, interesting little movie that will live up to its goal: to make you feel good.
