Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

I am conflicted
2 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am conflicted (warning spoilers ahead)

I liked the three new girls and Gilbert (and Cobweb) was hysterical but the film seemed to lack the charm the original had. It was also almost too slapstick in a way (and seemed to try over do it with all of the pop culture references). I had read the sequel book that Disney published a few years ago and I don't understand why they didn't just go with that story and bring back max and Allison and Dani. I enjoyed that they brought back Billy but it didn't make sense he was "awake" all of this time because he literally went to sleep at the end of the first movie. Also SJP's makeup was not the same (it wasn't pale enough) as the first movie and she didn't give Sarah the same voice either (she wasn't supposed to sound like Carrie Bradshaw!!) . I will let Mary's mouth being crooked slide.

It was cool but also strange how they showed footage of the first movie on someone's tv but if it was done as a loving tribute to Gary and Penny Marshall, I actually think it's kind of heartwarming.

I liked the musical numbers but I also missed I Put a Spell on You. And the DRAG contest was amazing!!!

I am confused as to exactly who Hannah Waddingham's character is supposed to be? I was thinking it was the girls mother but I am not so sure...could it just have been some random witch?? Since it only showed the girls in a house alone I was like where are their parents?!

I also thought at the end of the movie when Winnie was thanking the girls was very out of character for her, but perhaps it was written that way because Disney is on a "villains are good" kick. I had also heard that the mayor was supposed to have some villainous alter ego that teamed up with the witches so I was confused when that didn't happen. Maybe it was just a rumor??

I am all for a hocus pocus 3 but I just hope it addresses all of the many plot holes this movie had. It also needs to have Max and Allison and Dani (and Max and Allison's child) in it. Perhaps they could team up with the other girls??

Somewhere between 5.5 and 7.0 for me.

Cute
16 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is very cute. Jodie does a really good job. Yes, the movie is cliche but that's hallmark for you. It has a great message though. The only thing is that the guy in the movie was not very good. He was a weird combination of two put together and geeky. No hate intended. But other than that, it was a great movie!

Like The Family Stone but Better!
14 December 2018
This movie is super cute. It's a lot like the family stone (which also stars Diane Keaton). A great ensemble cast makes it even better. While this might not be a Christmas classic, it's one I can watch year after year.

Dermot
14 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why I keep coming back to watch this every Christmas season. This movie is almost unbearable to watch in the first have but gets better in the second half. Sarah Jessica Parker is so annoying in the movie. The best parts are probably Dermot Mulroney and Luke Wilson. I will say that despite its flaws the movie does have a lot of heart which might be why I come back to watch it every year.

The best movie of the year!
7 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I was not born when queen was popular but I consider myself to be an old soul. I love the music that comes from these decades. When I saw the trailer for this movie I knew I had to see it. I loved it. Rami Malik is great as Freddie and the movie is both funny yet emotional. There are a lot of great suprises along the way and you will leave the movie uplifted.

Best parts: The back story Behind the scenes of the music Need I say more...the music The cats Omg the cats. Two words: Live. Aid.

I saw both Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born and both are good but if you are looking for a movie that's happy and uplifting pick this one. I would definitely watch this again. I saw many movies this year, but this was probably the best one.

Candace Wins Again!
27 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I really loved Candace's 2016 movie Journey Back to Christmas. I wasn't as impressed with last years probably because I was trying to compare it to 2016, but this years film is amazing! While I'm not particularly religious, the faith part of this film was very inspiring and beautiful. While this wasn't your typical "what if" film, this was definitely like Its a wonderful life, The Family Man and and a Christmas Carol all in one. I would definitely watch this again many years to come.

More than Just Politics
25 November 2018
Ok here me out. I might not be the intended audience for this show as I disagree with Tim in many political issues...however, with that being said, this show is more than just about politics...it's about the struggles of a working class family trying to get by. And this show does have a lot of heart and is not afraid to pull at your heartstrings. Do I laugh at every joke? No...but I don't do that with anything I watch anyways. I try really hard to not get offended (and I rarely do!) because at the end of the day it's just a comedic family sitcom. I have been watching since episode one and I intend to watch until the series finale.

Almost Perfect
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen this movie hundreds of times. While this movie should make me happy, it kind of infuriates me.

Now I'm probably going to be in the minority here but I strongly believe that Julianne and Michael should've gotten together at the end. Yes, I guess it sends a message that you can't Always get what you want, but still Kimmy was a 20 year old spoiled rich college drop out that Michael had only known for about two seconds. Julianne and Michael are both the same age and have more chemistry.

I know it's just a movie but I can just about guarantee that marriage was a flop. At least we got Rupert Everett to sing a musical number out of it!

Sweet as the Sugar Plum Fairy
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this for the first time today. It was really sweet. It was totally not what I was expecting and it went beyond the normal hallmark movie plot. Amy and Sascha has freat chemistry and the dancing was beautiful. Would watch again.

Guilty pleasure
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie annoys me so much every time I watch it, but I still watch it every year. I really hate all the people fighting in this film and the plot is kind of odd. What saves this movie is Vince Vaughn and his fast talking ramblings. Also if you stay to the end you will hear a Tom Petty Christmas classic.

Great Christmas Film
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Whoever hates this film is a real Scrooge just like Luther was. While I might not agree with Tim Allen's views, I enjoy his humor and I love every Christmas movie he's in. This is definitely a Christmas classic and Jaimie Lee Curtis and Dan Ackroyd are bothexcellent in this movie too. I hope people walk away from this movie with a newfound Christmas spirit.

Better than the first one!
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Ok I know I'm probably going to get hard for this but this film was much better than the first one. I felt in the first one that the dad was a real jerk and Abusive to his kids and while the dad was a bit like that in this film at least Daniel stern toned and it down and made it humorous.

Classic?
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry. I really tried to like it...but I didn't. I felt the dad was abusive and a horrible parent and he was the one that told his son the bad words and he didn't get in trouble for it. Also that Santa is creepy! The only good part of this movie is the you'll shoot your eye out part.

Great Christmas Movie
25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the those Christmas movies that is way more than just a plain old Christmas movie. This movie is something special. This is a movie I can watch any time of the year. It's that good. It has a great ensemble cast set upon one of the most noteable cities in the world. As Billy Mack would say, "Christmas (and love) is all around)

Sandler Makes for one Heck of a Girl
25 November 2018
I love this Adam Sandler movie. Since it's set around Thanksgiving, I love breaking it out every November. This has to be one of Sandler's better comedies. I was laughing out loud. Sandler does make for one heck of a girl though. And Al Pacino is amazing in this movie. This is one you can share with your family for sure.

Great Chemistry
24 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Lacey Chabert and Brendan Penny have great chemistry in this film. It's based on a book. I liked how they went from enemy's to lovers. I think that's what made the story so interesting and also it made it more humorous. I have been extremely impressed by hallmarks Christmas lineup this year and I hope it continues to be that way.

Only liked Melissa
24 November 2018
I'm not sure what it is about him, but I didn't find Dean Cain's character to be likeable at all. I'm sure he's a very nice guy, but I think that in this movie he's almost too nice. The fake kind of nice. I agree with the previous reviewer...Melissa (and the Christmas season) is the bright spot in this film. Maybe if she had a costar like Brennan Elliot it would've been a better movie.

My favorite of candace's movies
24 November 2018
This movie is definitely my favorite out of all Candace's Hallmark Christmas movies. Maybe it's because I'm a little bit of a geek, but I love the time travel aspect of this movie. Perhaps this movie is like Back to The Future meets the Notebook or something. Of course, I also loved the romance. I'm glad the movie didn't end wit the "modern" guy traveling back in time with her as that wouldn't be realistic at all. I liked this movie so much that I found Candace's 2017 movie to not live quite up to my expectations. Overall, this is a great Christmastime movie and a very sweet story with an inspirational message. 10/10

Vince Vaughn is great
23 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Vince Vaughn is great as Santa's brother in this movie. It's probably an underrated Christmas classic. I love Vince's humor and his crazy rants and this film. The kid Sam is really cute. One of my favorite parts is when he reposes the tv from the little girl and also when he goes to the support group for the famous brothers. Ludicrous is great as the elf DJ. Over all this is an underrated Christmas film that the whole family would enjoy.

Magical!
23 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I put this movie at 11 o'clock Thanksgiving night, not intending to watch the whole thing. Here it is 1am and I'm just finishing. Chris Columbus did a great job producing this film! It definitely reminded me of Christmas movies he had worked on in the past like home alone and Christmas with the Kranks. This movie was very childlike and magical. I will say some of the parts of the movie were a bit scary and some were eye roll inducing but other than it's a great film. Kurt Russell does a great job playing Santa and I think the only person who might've played this type of Santa better would be Tim Allen, though they were virtually the same. I think maybe Tim would've liked to play Santa like this if Disney hadn't given him so many limitations...but what do I know? The kids and elves were so cute. As a fellow New Englander I was Happy to see a small Mill town like Lowell, MA represented. I was honestly surprised in both and good and disappointing way that they didn't revive the dad at the end but that would probably be pushing it too far. All and all this is a wonderful Christmas film that will definitely become a Christmas classic as it's like elf, home alone and the Santa clause in one film.

Cute
21 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is pretty cute hallmark. A little over dramatic, but still cute. I love the hallmark Christmas look in Vermont for sure and I'm happy that the movie has a slight diverse cast. Personally I didn't like the leafing man and I think she should've ended up with her best friend. But oh well.

Really wonderful Christmas film
13 November 2018
I believe that this is one of the first hallmark Christmas movies I saw. This movie is super sweet and while it's unrealistic I eat it all up. I know many hallmark movies are unrealistic but some are more unrealistic than others. This isn't have bad.

This movie was ok. I have never hated any hallmark movie, I can always find something good about them. I think the only reason I liked this movie so much was because I like both Candace and Paul. If it was any other actors it might not have Been so good.

My Second Favorite CCB Christmas movie
13 November 2018
This is my second favorite of Candace's hallmark Christmas movies. The first is journey back to Christmas. I love how the big city girl goes back to the small town. Candace and the male actor have great chemistry and he's easy on the eyes as well.

13 November 2018
This is a great romance. The actors are perfect and the story is super sweet. I love hallmark movies and this is probably one of my favorites. I would watch this even if it wasn't Christmas. Sarah Lancaster and Brendan Penny have great chemistry that makes this Christmas movie even better.
