Dilwale (2015)
Dobara aisi film mat banana. jaan leloonga
This is from a fan of both rohit shetty and srk The only good thing in the film is cinematography.
The film does not even seem to be properly structured. It failed to keep me interested. It has quite a predictable plot. Action is well choreographed but even that did not make it up for the bad screenplay. Looks like rohit shetty tried to be different than his usual self but has failed miserably. Characters are not well developed. There are no moments which connect with audience. Supporting actors are just wasted. Stay away from this trash
I wanyed to write more but this film had given me headache. I am out of patience now
Ek Villain (2014)
Mohit Suri's moral science continues
Opening scene was interesting. Everything after that was quite pathetic. Shraddha Kapoor irritates and tries too hard to be cute. Everything that could go wrong with her has gone wrong and hence she lives the life to the fullest. Fine let her... but why torture us! Siddharth Malhotra's performance is okayish. He has maintained 1 single expression throughout the film. It works at places and at some places it doesn't. Ritesh has done a fantastic job and proves that he is much more than KKHH and Masti. Rest of the cast has done decent job. Our legendary KRK does justice (surprisingly) to the role. Script included evident preaching. It was too much for me to handle. Mohit Suri has this habit of preaching in every movie. Kalyug, Raaz, Crook, Murder 2 and Aashiqui2 too. I mean, we don't go to cinema halls to learn moral science, come on! Music is fine. Cinematography is apt and the cutting is slick I just did not like that 1 single long take of fight between Siddharth Malhotra and the men of his underworld godfather. There the fight seemed too unnatural. The editing table zoom in and zoom out was stress on eyes.
Ek villain can be easily avoided
Dhoom:3 (2013)
one aamir was unbearable.
Dhoom 3 opens grand but drastically falls as the story progresses. The songs are irritating and they disturb the flow to a great extent. The entry scene of Abhishek with an auto rickshaw stunt was ridiculous. A robbery happens in Chicago and something is written in Hindi (Aisi ki Taisi is the most creative line the thief could come up with!) Surprisingly a few wire stunts are good and are in sync with laws of gravity (at least visually) Uday Chopra is funny at time but as usual irritating mostly. Management quota entry... can't help. And the firang lady officer on whom he line maarofies has 3 dialogs yet she is there in more than half of the scenes in which Uday is there Katrina Kaif is good but doesn't have much to do Aamir Khan looked more retarded than SRK in My Name is Khan. Stay away from this hyped junk. you'll thank me for saving your time and money
Madras Cafe (2013)
Not must watch yet somewhat it is
The disclaimer is shown before the film plays "all the characters and incidents...." So we are asked not to relate it to any incident that we know. Yet the film forces you to relate.
This is one of those films which did not get adulterated in bollywoodism. The story is honest and so is the narrative. The fact that Vikram narrates his past to a father in church was a little out of place. The artificial facial hair and wig of John Abraham was laughable. There is so much to remember in this film that you might lose it somewhere. If you are looking for some entertainment masala then this film is not for you. But this certainly is something 'Hatke' in true sense.
Madras cafe is not a film which falls in the set of my personal taste. However, the effort that has gone in making this film is extremely impressive. So that makes it a must watch film for the effort if not for the film itself
Chennai Express (2013)
DDLJ magic + Shettyism = Chennai Express
After disastrous Ra.One and a fairly watchable Don 2 followed by a baseless JTHJ I had started accepting that King Khan's retirement is near. With Chennai Express, that notion of mine turned out to be wrong. This film is a total entertainer. King Khan yet again proves that he is the king of romance. As story there is nothing much I can write about here and I don;t want to. I would want you people to go watch it yourself.
What I liked: Shahrukh's acting till the climax, comic timing, Deepika Padukone, Action scenes and songs
What I did not like: Overdone color grading, Overdone scene transitions and sometimes the editing transitions within a scene, Deepika's accent and climax
Climax looked a little forced but the fight scene compensates for it.
must watch for a bollywood fan.
PS: Dear Mr. Khan, Your Lungi dance under the shadow of Rajni's Lungi has made us forgive your attempts to ridicule us in Ra.One. We forgive Deepika for that pathetic accent too
Son of Sardaar (2012)
Another one in the era of 'TOO MUCH' Cinema
Lot of promotions and Ajay Devgn's previous hits had kept my expectation high. It did not turn out to be the way I expected. But it was not bad either. The movie largely revolves around the rivalry between two families and... Well sorry. As far as the plot is concerned, that is about it. This film, pretty much like what the trend is, relies on wire stunts which are live action version of many cartoon network programs. It was, till a few years ago, limited to Telugu and Tamil films. Then I realized that it is a remake of a Telugu film (No wonder). Fun filled good songs get over withing 1st 25 minutes of the movie and you will have nothing to look forward. Is SOS complete waste of time? No. It does make one laugh but not very often. Certain dialogs are well written and well delivered. If you are a fan of PJs you can give it a try. Editing could have been better. Wait till the film comes on DVD or till it premieres on TV. Paying Rs.250 (or more) for SOS does not look justified.
Good Night Good Morning (2010)
Must Watch if you are into sensible cinema
Well if I have to sum it up, the entire film is a telephonic conversation between 2 people shown in split screen. Does not sound exciting, does it? There is not much happening apart from their conversation. But the subjects explored in the conversation are quite diverse, different and yet related to each other. It definitely makes you think. I really liked the idea of showing real events in black & white and the imaginary parts in color. It belongs to less explored genre of thought provoking entertainment. It's really sad that such films are not promoted properly. I went for a Saturday evening show and I could spot 11 people in cinema hall. I could not help overhearing rest of them ridiculing the film. I am rating it 10 to increase its rating but it really deserves seven. Good Night|Good Morning - For people who like films that make sense and more for people who never knew films can make sense too
PS: Nothing personal against mainstream cinema aka Khan monopoly
Ayaash (1982)
A good watch
This film stands out because of its unconventional story and brilliant performances. Arun Govil has lost it in business of Photography and seeks employment under Sanjeev Kumar. He is hired as personal photographer by Sanjeev Kumar to 'document' his merry making activities. As soon as he begins his work, he notices that Rati Agnihotri happens to be Sanjeev Kumar's wife who used to be his girl once upon a time. Rati Agnihotri is extremely unhappy with her marriage since Sanjeev Kumar is into alcohol and other women.
Rati Agnihotri and Arun Govil keep having secret private meetings when Sanjeev Kumar is busy with other women. After a while, a baby boy is born. The baby boy grows up and starts getting attracted towards alcohol and Mujra dancers. Arun Govil starts restricting the boy from doing that is supposedly bad which annoys Sanjeev Kumar. Sanjeev Kumar fires Arun Govil after which Rati Agnihotri dies in a domestic accident. Several years later Sanjeev Kumar finds Arun Govil's photograph in Rati Agnihotri's old locket which provokes him to suspect Rati Agnihotri's fidelity. Sanjeev Kumar goes to Arun Govil whose health has deteriorated. Arun Govil dies without saying anything. Now there is no way that Sanjeev Kumar can clarify his doubts. He commits suicide later.
The director has not tried to justify anything in this film, nor has he tried to define right and wrong. Its simply a good story, nicely told with an element of 'unanswered question'. Songs are average and they disturb the narration flow. Cinematography is not out of the world but it is apt. Background score is pretty neat. It's definitely not a Saturday afternoon DVD watch film but you won't regret watching it if have a taste for old Indian films.
Ra.One (2011)
Bad.One
Ra.One - Bad.One
Let me just take a moment to scratch my head
Yeah
so where were we?
Yeah
Ra.one... Story is cliché, stunts seem familiar, jokes (supposedly) don't make you laugh, religious quotes are forcefully made relevant and you end up connecting with none of these.
A game programmer and a wannabe Superdad makes a larger than life game in which villain is much more powerful than the hero
. Why??? 'coz his son tells him "Dad! Villains are kick-ass". Rest of the movie becomes an extremely predictable man vs machine affair and there is "Happys Endings" too with a scope for sequel.
) 2D ho ya 3D
Ra.One Hai Ek Khichdi. Why would anyone want to watch a bad combo pack of Spy Kids 3D, Terminator, Spider Man and Enthiran?
) Why does G.One bleed blue? World cup Ka Asar or Royal Tevar?
) What is Sooooooooooo special about Arjun Rampal's look that SRK legally made the cast and crew not disclose it?!
) Hasn't Shahrukh watched Dus and Cash of Anubhav Sinha yet?
) Where is the SRK loaded with Tashan and where is SRK's signature mannerisms' pack? 1 sec
did I get a dose of both in this film? Sorry I could notice neither.
) Anubhav needs more 'Anubhav' to handle sci-fi stuff. Till then he should stick to his Tum Bin kinda films
.
) Kareena is a little less than wasted. Thanks to Chammak Challo
) Why is SRK a Tamil character in the film? Does he think that he can be more appealing to the people in south by doing so??!!! Rajni Sir is still the supreme and will always be and that's the reason I believe SRK featured him in a scene which is the only entertaining part.
Shahrukh 'Khan' never do Rajni and there's nothing our Rajni 'Kan't' do.
Thumbs down to Ra.One.
